Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

Well...That Sucks!!...too bad Ya' can't get crop insurance...lolool...pretty hard to tame Ma' Nature when she wants to go on a tear...one of the reasons...besides the shorter growing season here...why I like to work in a shed out of the elements(mostly)...hope she can rebound for you somewhat and you can stretch the life of some of the others...Cheerz...h00k...

Now that's some crappy news. However I had plants going down few times, and always managed to save them. If they weren't ripped out totally just use some stakes and ropes to pull them back, and they should recover in 24 hrs.

I'll be the first to admit my training and shaping leave a lot to be desired. Had I pruned more, tied more branches, added more support, I'm sure the damage would have been less. GASS has been leaning into the light that comes from the south. I had her tied up to one of the culls on her north to keep her more vertical. This wind gust came out of the south and blew the plants' tops north. Ya just never know...

The ONLY reason it wasn't worse is because of the four 8' stakes I have surrounding each of the plants. They've been wrapped with string, from post to post creating a cage. That held the majority of the plants up. The ones around the edges of the garden were also supported by the deer netting fence. The amazing thing is ZD, in the center with no other support, and the tallest, did OK. She got beat up a little, but the thinner-bladed leaves, bamboo-like stems, and no buds, all served her well last night.

The good news is, GG4 (my fav') seems to have weathered it well. It isn't heavy with buds yet. If I only manage to pull 10% of what's down there, I'll still have too much. I may just chop GASS and see if the wife wants to make a bunch of butter/oil/tincture from it. I'll see how it does over the next couple of days. I only gave her water this morning. I'm not gonna waste nute's on her if this is the end. It might be an unscheduled flush.

Bummer Major,
That situation blows. There is an insurance agent in your neck of the woods, approved in all 50 states, so that crop insurance can be real but ...........
It blew hard all day & night here in central Oregon. To top it off, we had a freeze warning as well, you could hear the plastic sheeting flying off the shelves around these parts. 30.5* this morn at my place, couldn't even feel the chill outside with the woodstove cooking this morning. First fire of the season & it feels early.
I'm sure you will still pull a truck load tho.
Cheers mon

Hello Major! I went and seen an older guys yard grow yesterday and it seems he takes all the fan leaves off before harvest. He thinks they got a couple weeks. I read where you said you super cropped and Im going to google it and see what it is.
I checked trics. on my yard grow and my most advanced are clear to cloudy with not one dark yet. I already figured a month before my first harvest. Cha ching starts today for a few. Ive got three that look like mid Nov.
I plan on bud washing this year and Im hoping you could post those pics and info you have again? I remember you have a two bucket system compared to three. I read some where that Jorge Cervantes isent the process to use. Doc Bud has a method I think too but I was hoping to use Major Pitas method. This time I will write it down Major!
My yard grows incredible and my tent is booming and the next to the dryer are wonderful! I up potted the dryer grow yesterday and I cloned some broken branches and put them in the tent. We shall see. Im thinking the dryer grow might be my mothers and pull a bunch off before they go outside next feb.
The older guys yard grow has one same strain as my dryer grow. I gave it to him in may when it was budded out and he took it home and reveged it and its the best plant he has! Its a monster! Sticky. That plant I bred the seeds and theyre named after their characteristics, SHY......Smelly huge yield. A blue dream Og cross. I got six of them next to the dryer and theyre all fem. and beautiful!
Sorry for the book Major! Supercropping? (will research) Your bud wash method?(please)
Oh, Ive been seeing little orange butterflys cruising around my yard grow and I know they must be laying eggs? I thought fall caterpillars were a moth? It seems these are they same butterflys that love Marigolds and Marigolds your supposed to plant to keep crap away? Never seen these butterflys around my yard grow before. I noticed my first cat damaged bud yesterday. Maybe move my Safer spray to every 5 days.
Thanks Major. Namaste

Butterflys and moths both come from caterpillars.
I do supercrop sometimes, but this recent one was done w/o my permission by the wind. :(
My bud washing is the same as Doc's. He's the one that turned me on to it. It is simple enough: Two 5 gal. buckets, each with room-temp water. Leave one of them alone for the "rinse cycle". The other one gets 1/2 cup of baking soda, stir well to dissolve (or you can mix the BS with a little hot water to make it dissolve easier/quicker, then add to the cool water. Wash buds immediately after harvest. Add 1/2 cup lemon juice to the bucket with BS immediately when ready to begin washing. Stir just to combine. Dip and gently swirl each cola in the lemon/BS solution first, then rinse in the plain water. Let drip dry a bit, then hang to dry like usual.

What does washing the buds achieve?

Gets the crap off them: dust/dirt, bugs, bug poop, hair, foliars if used, etc.
I wash all the other produce I consume. I see no reason not to consume cannabis that's as clean as possible. No matter how careful you are, stuff gets on the plants. They are sticky little (or big) bug and dirt magnets.

Well my Grandma always said 'eat a peck of dirt before you die' so happy washing! ;)

And my Grandma always said, "eat a peck of poop before you die", but she was a crazy old bat. Washing is quick and easy. It's the trimming. Oh! The trimming...

Thanks Major.
How long can use that one bucket of wash water? Many branches or only a few? I think Doc Bud has a video maybe? No need but might be something to see. Im washing for the first time.
I never seen these little orange butterflys around my plants before. Im positive theyre the same ones that love the shit out of Marigolds. And again, Ive been told Marigolds is a good preventive crop by your plants? Bastards are laying eggs i know it. Frolicing around all happy.
Trimming, I hate it and I get no help. Im hashing all but the main buds Im thinking. Ive got a tried and tested way of curing which is basically hang for seven days, strip it by hand into a paper bag for another 7 days then trim and jar.
With only 4-5 yard grows behind me Ive done well this year! Pics soon.
Great day to all! Namaste

Dutch, I use the water until I'm done washing whatever I'm washing. My first time, the water got too dirty 'cuz I tried to wash two large outdoor plants. One outdoor plant is plenty for a bucket of water. I won't even do that much again. I'm cutting the tops that are ready then wait until it is trimmed before I chop the lower part of the plant. I hate trimming and like you, I don't get help. The bottom of the plant usually needs more time to mature anyway, so this lets me break up the washing and trimming into multiple days - usually with a breather in between.

Thnx for the buds washing explanation Major, I was going to wade through your journal to find it again but I got lucky today, thnx 4dutchess I have a week or two left on 2 of mine and want to be prepared.

Major, I read super cropping and its supposed to be done in Veg?
Is there any kind of pruning you recommend right before harvest?
I read where you pinch and bend the branch a week before harvest (supercropping)?????
Thanks Major.
Namaste

Exactly. I would only SC in bloom if I was indoors and HAD TO because of height constraints.

With large plants, I don't try to prune or trim before harvest, other than sometimes remove fan leaves. I'm lazy. Too much work. More than enough yield so it isn't justified for me. I find it easier to trim fans and junk while they are growing and vertical, rather than trim them when limp after the chop. In other words, if I don't want it, I'll cut it off while the plant is still standing.

I don't stress plants in any fashion prior to harvest. I've not see results that make me think it helps in any way. I prefer healthy, happy plants right up until they aren't.

How are your girls after that wind?

It's raining here in the Willammette valley. I'm goint to try and build a cover for them soon. I have one mexican haze that has no pistils yet...

Any new pics?
