Yeah, Blaze she reeks of lemon. But sweet lemon, as opposed to lemon-cleaner smell, if you get me.. I try to resist touching the buds too much but she is wet; you give the lightest squeeze and your fingers come away shiny and wet looking and will stick together.. I'm considering not even trying her til she's been cured and I've been off the smoke for at least a week...

freakin out a bit... Found some bud rot on an Atomic top last night. Quick inspection showed no signs anywhere else but I have to wait til 8 to get back in there... Was hoping this would not be an issue this time of year; no such luck.. I guess high humidity is high humidity, no matter what time of year.. Fingers crossed for the rest. 8pm will be 13 hours dark so I'll pull em at at 7 which is still 12 hours off. Also, one of my timers is def playing up.. Was stuck on lights 'OFF' for at least an hour but I was out the night before and didn't bother to check em (home late), so lights coulda been off for a full day.. Not really worried about that but still.... My luck this whole thing will rattle itself to pieces before harvest!
Nah, not that bad but I gotta pray to the universe that there's no more rot.. Finally got all the gear for the scrubber, so that will get done tonight too.. Just in time as I'm starting to detect the smell outside the house! When I open downstairs, the whole area has a 'weed' smell; not super strong but noticeably not a normal under-the-house smell...
Update, photos and results of rot-check later tonight or tomorrow...

The good news is that the Atomic is frosting up well. Picking away the rotted bits after cutting it from the branch left about 2 mil of resin/gook on my fingers. I stupidly wiped an eye and it burned! Eyelid stuck open a couple times before I washed it!! Crazy! So, now I have a bit of mostly mature Atomic bud to test this weekend.... I removed the rot, of course... And I will def be smokin it so don't worry about warning me about the potential bad-stuff being inhaled... I won't listen!

I know, right? Not what I need with a cab full of otherwise rock hard buds; for the mot part, anyway.. I swear i could break windows with the SOG, so, yeah; nervous. Hour and a half to go....

Seriously, tho'; I cut away all the mushy bits.. The stuff I saved is totally rot-free (according to my loupe); but it was the whole bottom-3/quarts of a top, which means I cut out the whole top. Couldn't in my right mind chuck all of it! That'd be a real cannabis crime..

OK. First off; bud-rot seems to be just that one top. Def a bit hot at the canopy...
So Atomic not gonna yield that much.. That's ok, though, cos I suddenly don't care that much about yield. Might have some good quality smoke on my hands real soon..
More about that later..
Finally did the scrubber. Watered my outside plants this arvo after work and while rolling up the hose, which is 7m away from the cab, and outside, I could clearly smell weed. So, luckily the final bits arrived this week to allow me to get it done, for the last 2-4 weeks..
Anyway, pics:
Ok so they're in order.. Had to make a frame for the fans to sit on, and had to make the hole in the cab-ceiling bigger (jigsaw, upsidedown, sawdust in eyes) so the fans could just plop nicely in their place above the carbon (last pics). Two grades of carbon; the pellets and some granules.. Activated carbon foam pads, then pellets, then granules, then more foam.
Works great so far!!! No shit! Looks dodgy but really works... I would've been happy just to have had 65-85% odour removed but.. Well; one or two hours later, no odour til I open the doors...

OK. I'm outta beers and it's almost beddy-bye time so I'll save the descriptions for another time... But here are some pics from tonight.
No other rot found. Trichs on all plants are about 50/50 clear/cloudy, with a smattering of amber here and there... Surprisingly, the GTH has the most amber, so I'll keep an eye on her..
Lots of new pistils also, so there'll be eye-keeping on all of them... They look great. The Atomic is frosting up. They all have! Choc Mint is really catching up with the SOG in size and frost; and density.. They're all chunking up... Can feel the weight of the buds flopping in the breeze when I carry them around.. I apologise for some of the pics... I was in a hurry cos it was getting late...

I was a little concerned that those fans wouldn't be powerful enough to pull much air through the filter & carbon, but if it's working I don't need to be worried!
The frost on those buds is fantastic too!
Sorry about the bud rot. And, I'd hate to do it to any "primo" buds, but if you get more bud rot, you may want to look at a water cure.

Cheers, Mr Krip! I was worried about that as well, so I turned them up to full and no problem.. No smell at all for now! I can feel plenty of air being pushed thru the top there, so all good. The sponge is very open, and the carbon is surprisingly open too... I had a whole kilo bag of the granules and I could easily blow/breathe through it.. But I think it's fairly safe to assume they cannot cope with the moisture in the cab at present... The sooner I get my shed built the better! Next grow will be smaller plants and less of them and we'll see how that goes. I really don't wanna have to buy a fan for the cab but it might come to that after all if I have any hope of growing in summer..

Well that fucken sucks about the rot bud. I'm terrified of that shit. My humidity has been quite high, but then I read on someones journal (can't remember who) that if you switch your fan off at lights out it lowers humidity. Doesn't sound right, but it works. I've managed to drop my average RH by 10 - 15% just by doing that.

I switch mine off for 15min at lights off to try and save heat... Now it's warmer, I was thinking of putting back on 24/7.. Been dry here, too, so I'm hoping to replace that moist air with dry stuff... But the reality is that the 40-odd litres of moist coco in there that is the real culprit, esp now that they're not drinking as much... I bought a couple cupboard dehumidifier things; they have granules of something I don't wanna know about but for the last few weeks it might just be the saviour I need..
Thanks Fez.. The fans on fleabay I think I paid $35 for a four-pack of CoolerMaster 19db delivered. Carbon was around $25 total. Shop around. You might be tempted to spend the 40 bucks at an aquarium (aquaria?) shop for a kilo or less. Don't! I found an online shop nearby that let me pick up 2 500g packs of pellets for $5 each.. The pads I had to wait for from china (fleabay again)' $2 bucks each delivered for 130mm square.. I used about half the carbon I had.. I started low, so I can add more if I need to but so far, so good. If I were to do it again I'd use four fans..Damn santb, killing it in here
PS That saved bit of Atomic smokes up well
!Pretty quick; I noticed I was bent as in about 5-10 minutes (I was busy working at home) and the initial rush lasted for a good half hour before chilling out... Nothing head-smashing but I noticed it so I'm happy.. Had a very pine-o-clean taste/smell, with a mild minty undertone.. Not too good at the taste description but there it is.. Air-dried-in-3-days-off-a-rotten-flower kicked arse, so proper cured stuff should be something worth waiting for..

PS Fez I only went down that fan road to save $$. It does work well, tho'. Check this out as well.. Bit bigger idea for a bigger cab.. Or just more for a small cab. The only reason I didn't do this was height.. PC fans saved me a few inches..

Not sure where exactly in there but in the first pages... If it is not he right journal give him a pm about his diy fan setup; Otta's good people..
If i'm being honest, this build was the main inspiration for mine.. I just needed smaller..
