Five Strains In 33"x33" - 600W HPS - Organic Soil Mix - 7 Gal Pots - Water Only?

Oh man Major I am heartbroken for you. Truly the growers kryptonite.the last time this happened to me it was from a gifted clone from a buddy. I let everything finish flower, tossed the soil, put on clothes I didn't care about and sprayed everything with flora mite. Then I threw out the clothes and started from scratch. I just couldn't stand the thought of having them pester me forever.

I lost my last post, will try this again.

I had a terrible infestation throughout both tents that took me two months to kill. It was my first time, and I didn't recognize the spotted leaves until all the plants were infested.

With a lot of research, I acquired or created 3-typs of cannibus-friendly miticides, rotating them every other day or so, followed by vigorous cool-water showers (I have a hand-held shower head). The one important rule I learned was to spray the miticide just before lights out and wash them down in the morning. I would leave them in the shower for a day to take advantage of the high RH. Then repeated the process every 2 or 3 days until the mites were gone.

BTW, even tho their water spray-down was vigorous, the trics shone like Xmas tree lights when I was finished. They really liked being cleaned of the dead bugs and dried detritus! I also took advantage of the shower and flushed them every time I washed off the miticides from the night before.

Meanwhile, I vacuumed out both tents, then washed them down with a household disinfecting all-purpose cleaner, before returning the plants to their respective tents.

The two ladies in flower looked like hell by harvest, and practically bare of leaves, but one I managed to get plenty of tiny buds and shake for use in an alcohol brew/tincture, and the last one, which I just harvested yesterday, gave me 4 good 3 to 4" colas and a lot of smaller buds for the brew. I had almost no leaves left on that poor Lady, and she gave me all she had left.

Meanwhile I had 3 very large clean ladies in veg, and I've trimmed their skirts and small inner branches and put them under flower. These are 30" tall and just as wide due to topping and tying down, so I expect the best harvests yet. They went through the mite treatment while young and came back with unusual vigor, lots of branches with HUGE leaves!

major...im sure you wrote Doc. What did he say? sulphur?

Actually I didn't. Since this is not in his kit soil, I didn't think I should bother him with it.
I know Doc has a miticide foliar. If I remember correctly it is a neem/pyrethrin blend (?). I have and use those already. This kind of caught me off guard because the plants look so damn good and I really thought all my cleaning and other prep work had paid off. TY.

Major, have you tried Mighty Wash? It's a very safe product to use on mites in flower and leaves no residuals. It also kills mites dead! It's sort of spendy... A good friend used it to wipe out a recurring mite problem by spraying every three days for three weeks. Based on what I saw first-hand looking in his grow room it will be Mighty Wash for me if mites rear their ugly heads in one of my grows again. I've battled them in the past with neem oil, and also with Azamax (or Azatrol) which is azadirchtin. Azadirachtin is an extract of neem oil (the active ingredient) and is OMRI approved organic. I found it far superior to neem. It has a very short half life and can be used right up to about two weeks of harvest.

No matter what you use, you need to spray every three days because the half-life of the products is so short. If you don't, when new eggs hatch there is not much of the product left to combat the new bugs. You have to keep stomping the blighters!

I as well was steered towards mighty wash and yes it does work good! It saved my first grow. I did neem first and then did the wash a few days later. I didn't like what the neem did to the plant.. I was 3?4? weeks into flower.. When they popped again later in the same grow slightly i mighty washed only.... dead again... Continued with it every 2-3 days for a week and then a few days later a straight water bath.. always cleaned in the dark and lots of ventilating to dry. Layed under plant and sprayed basically every leaf from underside.. seems where mites are mostly...it was a good size scrog. I was told wash can be used up to like the week of harvest very clean so to say.. I couldn't find ANYWHERE! what the ingredients are and that was my only hang up....

good luck and stay at it... make sure you don't use shoes in there that have been outside... spray all plants continually in veg until flower... especially right before they go in there... I painted the grow room and floors and then mighty washed the whole area after my episode and all clear now.. besides and occasional real spider...

Good luck and don't get too down it does suck yes but implementing some new procedures etc you can get it right...

:peace:

Standing off to the side and listening to all of the voices, my gut is telling me you should be listening to PeeJay.

Persist Major. You can overcome this. When you do you're that much stronger.

Holy crap batman, I need to go back and see what the heck I am missing. Apparently when you were solving my mite issue they took their revenge out on you. be back in a sec.. need to get up to date.

friggin borg anyways. a few thrips for me too. the warm weather is keeping them alive longer this year. been battling both since i signed on lol. now i know it's all oldergrowers fault :laughtwo: i just dropped a py bomb and did a soil drench this morning. hate doing that but the SNS 209 won't be here until monday, and the azamax by itself is just not quite doing the trick. the weird thing is my room has never been so clean lol. usually don't have these problems unless i'm really slacking.

otherwise looking good major. you'll get 'em. :cheertwo:

So I know this has probably been discussed and my bad eyes missed it but you can not pull your plants out of the shower, why? I would be sliding those big guys out very slowly and carefully and checking each one top to bottom. Any sign of mites on the leaf, well it was nice knowing you mister leaf but you my friend has got to go. I raped a 1/4 of the leaves on my scrog, then sprayed the hell out of everything. I fear if you do not and they are on the back plants you will have bigger issues down the road then what you are having now. If they are on the back plants you could literally loose your whole crop before it is over if you do not address them all. I really hate being the one to say that especially since it was you who convinced me to go back and do a double look on my grow and saved my butt. Better to loose a branch or two to breakage then the crop to mites. You still have time to get them under control, but the longer you wait, the harder it becomes.
Nothing but positive thoughts coming south from me to you on this one Pita:Love:

I actually do feel kinda bad about the whole deal. When those lil SOBs were setting up shop in his garden Major Pita was busy spotting issues in my garden.

i've been noticing this around here. people looking out for each other. nothing wrong with that. nothing at all. proves i've been picking the right friends. :green_heart:

oh and hey pita.. you may already know, and it's not always a problem, but those pyrethrin sprays can be photo-toxic. best to leave the lights off until everything dries and the air clears.

yeah peej nailed it with the azamax. i go extra heavy when adding it to the water too.

it IS comforting to be able to compare notes (tell war stories) in the battle against mites.

Something I came across is that the most effective miticides (with pyrethium) are not sold in, or shipped to Alaska. I found ONE place that allowed me to order Safer EndAll online. The other miticide, also not sold in Alaska, I found was not recommended for use on edibles, and so steered clear of it.

I received the EndAll after I won this round, but I have it for next time, because surely there WILL be a next time. I am also saving large plastic bags that come in with such recent purchases as a humidifier, small furniture, etc, to use as isolation bags if I spot trouble before it hits the whole grow.

Learn as you go..... Inspect the Ladies every day!

I've been a neem preacher for years. Not as an instant treatment, but as a preventative measure.
I use it... in fairly infrequent and small amounts. When I grew outside I used more and more frequently. It's really done me right. I've had 1 indoor outbreak of mites once when I let my regular program down for a while over the last 4 or 5 years. Not a bud worm. Not a caterpillar. Nuthin. Had lots before implementing a normal program.
2cents.

Major....what the....? I leave for a few days with PC trouble and return to find my brotha havin all these issues with bugs! Not good....Major , what have you tried already ?When i won the potm two Aug's ago , one of the prizes was a box filled with plant care products....one of them was a bug spray , i beleive SNS stuff. I would gladly ship the whole lot to ya ...just let me know pal, and it's on it's way....just sayin pal! Hope your day is ok despite those nasty critters! Hang in there major and try not to get to worked up brotha....youl'e beat them, and all will work out just fine!:circle-of-love:

Wow - you are all so amazing! This just proves to me, we are all in the right place here at :420:
The support from all of you is appreciated more than you know.

I'll get my head right. I'm not giving up. I should quote and reply to each of you, but that's probably more than any of you want to read.

Random thoughts and replies:
In the future I will be more proactive. I think I can assume mites (or some other little pest) can or will be a problem. From now on I will start a preventative regimen before bloom.
I do have SNS on the way from the MotM last month. I have Azamax which I will continue with in the meantime and while I research the other products suggested.
Very cool leaf diagram showing the stages of damage. I can easily live with the damage I have (maybe 5%??), but hope I can keep them at bay with additional treatments.
I could pull all plants out of the room, and I know I should. It would be a major undertaking since the door to the room is narrow, the pots alone barely fit through and the plants will get beat up. I'd also need to tie or wrap them so branches don't get busted. As it is, they all sort of hold each other up. I will spray again tomorrow one way or the other. I like to spray with lights off but I can't do that outside the room. Dunno...

Regardless of the outcome, I'm going to give them hell and keep on keepin' on.
No more pissing and moaning from me, for the time being at least. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Let's get back to the  You guys (and ladies) ROCK! :thanks:

well dang dude if you are going to be that positive today so am i :laughtwo: i woke up grouchy.. culture media didn't set.. left pots for auto flower outside and got rain soaked.. spent all day yesterday in a war of the worlds with planet pest. but today is a new battle! right after i get my mocha.

yep. best thing you can do is keep it clean.. i keep telling myself that one lol. the next is an IGR like Azamax.. and it sounds like you are on the right track with the SNS209 for plant protection. once in a while i have to drop a pyrethrin bomb like yesteday, but only as a last resort.

Here you go. :passitleft: This will set you right.

Same here. It is pouring right now with rain forecast for all day. My neighbor still has a couple plants outside but I think he must have written them off by now. Looks like a good day enjoy my summer harvest, get caught up on the forum, drink a few beers and watch some games.
Best of luck in your battle. :high-five:
