First Time Grower - Dinafem Blue Widow

Looking really good and healthy there. any particular reason why you decided to take the LST off? I figured that when we do LST, we keep it going for the entire ride. I know it took mine a week or so until it started to shoot up more branches, and I feared that if I release the knot, that the main branch will just try to climb up again.
I would love to hear your ideas. good luck!

I took her off of LST as I was only trying to bulk her up in the middle of the plant. She was lacking growth between the two main branches. I wanted to have as many branches at the canopy level so when she goes into flowering she has as many kolas as possible.

hmm, so wouldn't it be better just to keep them sides down in order to encourage more growth from the middle? I hope you don't mind me asking, just trying to understand. I never topped my girls, but with the top part tied down i got like 5-7 branches shooting up. I can only imagine that after topping once, and tying down both sides (after some healthy growth from the sides) I could get as many as ten or more branches all shooting up trying to beat each other to the prestigious title of "main kola", therefore getting an even (or close to even) canopy of many kolas.
I just thought that that is the idea behind LST.

Or did you mean that you were just trying to encourage some growth in the middle parts, because it was lacking it, but actually intended on getting the tied tops back to their position as top kolas, after some more branches emerge. In that case, I would love to see if it works, and you can disregard the first part of my post:cheesygrinsmiley:

Good luck any ways.

A little bit of both actually. Trying to get more branches to support a bigger harvest, but also trying to bulk up the middle of the plant as it didn't really have anything there, between the two tops that where created when I topped her.
As its my first grow, I've been doing some experimenting to see what what techniques work the best. Granted which technique works differs from plant to plant.

Day 45, I've put her back on LST I wasn't happy with the canopy coverage, the main branches where still much taller than the rest. Also gave her some nutes this morning and some of the older leaves are showing signs of overwatering so I'm going to wait a few days and see how she recovers. Which brings me to my next point, which might be seen as bad news. I have to go out of town the second week of July so I'm going to accelerate the day that I turn her over to flowering to Day 50. Ten days ahead of schedule, all the research I've looked at says the flowering time is 45-55 days. Which will allow me to harvest and start curing before I leave.

I find that sometimes the dates from the producers are just guidelines.
One plant that I had was 45-55 days, but it wasen't showing amber until 65.
Maybe you are lucky and it's chopping time at day 45? :)

I'm really hoping it's more towards day 45 and not 55. I was planning on 60 days of Veg and 60 days of flowering. Let's hope she takes to flowering really quickly.

Day 46, looks like she took better to this round of LST much better than the last. The leaves have also perked right back up, might give her some more nutes tomorrow. I have also started the process of decreasing my lighting time. I was running an 18/6 schedule, I've just changed it to 16/8, and will continue to do so until I reach 12/12 just so she's not super stressed out before going into flowering.

Day 47, 3 days to go till she's into flowering cycle. Last night I removed the LST and the canopy looks much more even, one side is still a bit low but I've run out of time. Tonight I dropped the light time down to 14/10 after the lights turned off. No signs of any preflowers might just be her genetics or I've not gone long enough on veg to get them.

Very nice man! :)
Maybe you should defol a little bit of the big fan leafs in the middle, so the plant get's a little more light before flower.
And since you got three days before 12/12, you got time to let the plant bounce back after defol. :)
I was actually thinking of defol the bottom third of the plant. At least the bottom 4-6 inches, anything that's not going to get light to them and develop colas will be removed.

Day 49/Day 1 of flowering, nothing to note really. Plant looks happier not that I removed some of the undergrowth. Depending on the soil I may give her some nutes. Not completely sure but it will definitely be within the next couple of days. It's a little strange to come home and the tent not be running. I'll have to pull her out of the tent to take photos for you guys during the week. So day 1 day down hopefully 54 more to go. I'd hate to leave her in the final week of flowering and everything go wrong.

Just keep a close eye on stuff, flower stage is harder than veg imo. Keep the environment stable, feed enough but not too much, the usual

Cool, I'll keep that in mind. My tent is pretty steady, as far as temp and humidity go. There's isn't any extra light getting that I'm aware of. But I'll do my best to be more diligent with her.
