First Time Grow

:( new beginnings, new improvements :). Drilled tie down holes in the lid for LST and drip for testing and adding nutes. Upgraded the air pump again. Unfortunately the last plant did go full HERMI. I made the choice to cut it before the male flowers could do anything. I removed “it” and cleaned everything with Lysol and boiled everything else. The new seed is now in a shot glass beginning it’s journey. Thanks for all the helpful tips I learned from those who contributed. On to grow 2!

sounds like you have got it all sorted out . Just know that this kind of thing does happen . Now you said you have a seed germinating . Like someone stated earlier on ..if its from the same batch I would be extremely hesitant to run another one from it . Why ? simply because there is a very strong chance of it happening again especially with how pronounced it was in the very early stages of preflowering . Also know that very late in flower some strains have a tendency to sprout a pollen sac here or there in a last ditch effort to live on ..but those pollen sac are again very sparse and extremely late in flower .

Was very disappointing. I do believe what happened was caused by my mistakes more than faulty seeds. I caused root rot on week 2 and week 5. Week 5 being the worst when I actually had to cut off 80% of the root system. May also have had a light leak. All have been addressed to not happen again. I did stop at the dispensary and got a fresh pack. Same strain new pack. After over night in the shot glass it’s sprouting. Gonna give it most of today before I plug it and put it in the bucket.

yes it can be . Could you have caused it by stress? It is a possibility but never the less not worth the risk . I'm glad to hear that you purchased a new batch of seeds and I'm hoping it was by a different breeder just to remove everything from the equation .
Know that some nutrient brands do stain roots and you can trim roots if necessary , just not aggressively. To aid in potential root rot I recommend UCROOTS by current culture its an acid that will descale the roots and will not affect ph ..The downside is you cant run any beneficial bacteria ... My other recommendation is Hydroguard which are beneficail bacteria which will also keep roots clean ..the thing with beneficial bacteria is when they die off they have a tendency to affect ph if used in abundance . Since I run a chiller and have good aeration I only use ucroots at a minimal value and for a root promotor I use Rapid start by General Hydroponics as its not affected by ucroots as its enzymes that encourage fine haired root growth ,, this is my first run using it and i am impressed . If you would like to see a pic of my root zone just say the word and I will post one in my journal .

Lol it is same brand so we will see. Trusting my local guys. As far as beneficial bacteria I started using a brand called orca. It reversed the first root rot completely and exploded the root growth so this is what I’ll be using. Unfortunately second root rot was my fault as I filled reservoir to high after res change and had crap air pump.

I drowned the roots. The orca couldn’t save that lol. I since upgraded air pump twice. Now I have one that could put 6.6 LPM of air into my bucket. Over kill on that now. I haven’t had any temp issues as my bucket hovers between 68-71. Attached are pics of all the nutes I have.

Awesome man. You keep doing what you done on that first grow, you’ll have it down pat in no time. You done a really awesome job I think and that’s coming from someone who’s new to growing. It’s got me all tangled up man.. I wanna give hydro a go but I’ll have to change up everything and invest more $ I don’t have atm

Yeah I feel you on the money part. It’s why I started to grow. Long run save a couple bucks.

Day 4- hit the water (already have nutes and micros unlike last time) not having the water ready like I did last time is what caused my root rot at the very beginning on grow one. Lesson learned. Also much more bubbles.

Fantastic I hope you have a great time. :yahoo:
I've been waiting over 50 years for that parade.
I was there when the Jay's won their 2nd world series, that was a crazy night.
That should be fun for the family, something they will remember for ever.
Get some good pic's.

Stay safe
