First Time Grow Journal - Outside - Kaya Gold & Freebies

I do have a question at this point. I had some Bionicare Pro Blend Bloom samples and have about used them up. I need to decide on a base bloom nute. I'm leaning toward the bionicare PBB. And still deciding on other supplements. I'd love an opinion on this. For me now the alternative would be FF Big Bloom. Brightlight? You've used Bionicare and spoke highly of FF Big Bloom. Frankly it is basically a coin toss between the two. You spoke highly of FF BB. All organic and maybe their best product. Should i go there? I'm thinking also Roots Organics HPK. If I want to use that does anyone have a recommendation when that should start. It's Bat guano and langbeinite 0-5-4. I want to keep it simple this my first grow with bottled nutes. Next year will be different.

Hello KK. You can't go wrong w/ FF Big Bloom. Mild so if used alone don't hold back. Botanicare PBP is fine but don't let them fool you as it's not organic....if that even matters to you on this grow. If you use it, then maybe some of its Hydroplex (bloom booster) too. Might be good since you're going to need to speed up the flowering. Stick w/ liquids over dry this time around....you need fast action flowering. Hang in there....sounds like bloom is underway. :Namaste:

Hi KK. I've used the Botanicare products, including PBP for years and have no complaints. Buds grow big, healthy, and with lovely flavour. For me the limiting factor hasn't been the nutrients- it's always me, the grower :). I don't answer your question the first time because I haven't used the other products you mentioned, and it's been a few years since I used anything but Botanicare, so can't really make useful comparisons. I got into Botanicare stuff because I thought it was organic. I found out after that's it technically not- but decided it's organic enough for me at the moment. I think it's something like 99% organically derived, from what I've read.

Thanks weaselcracker. That's why is got them initially. But for now at least that is close enough too. I'm sticking with them this grow. I've used the grow, bloom and Liquid Karma. Brightllight recommends trying the Hydroplex, too which is what I will do. Do you use it? If so what ml/gal do you use of each and frequency. Also I haven't used Cal/mag thus far just a bit of Epsom salts early when I thought I was having an issue. Do you use it? Many say to use it throughout the grow. Looking forward to your input. Need to go the the store very soon.

I recently got some hydroplex. I've only tossed it in the mix twice now- So, not enough to say I've really used it yet. Been sorta busy trying not to get confused over some of my plants feeding schedule as it is, so haven't wanted to complicate it.
I do use cal mag because I use only rainwater in my grow. Right now I'm using it at 3ml/gallon. Seems to be doing the trick at that level. If you use tap water you may not need it. I use it up until the last few weeks. When I discontinue using it I eventually start to notice brown spots on the plants, and some bleaching of the foliage that is closest to the light, it seems. CalMag is a source of nitrogen. Probably don't add it if you haven't needed it before this, I would say.
A bunch of the members who have posted here are way smarter and far more edumacated than me on the subject of nutes and everything else and may, hopefully, have more input.

I've got a little bit of of an update now we are ready to start a new week. First, the girls continue be green a appear happy. The three in pots that I bag and put into dark for twelve are progressing nicely. One has started to flower. The second is just starting. I can tell from having watched the first. The third is making changes that I know are positive based on watching the first two. We're getting there. The other issue we faced today had to do with the grow we had going when faced with the environmental issues we faced along the socioeconomicliegal issue. We faced that by adjusting grow by a little. Tomorrow, I will put up a shot of one girl that we haven't shown yet. A little 5.5 foot Sativa who is living in the ground. She is a rotund short one I like to call Cousin It.

Hi, Brightlight. I hope you laughed at that. Sorry for being a cheapskate. I didn't say I didn't get it. I was just the store getting the PBPB and put my hand on the Hydroplex. I saw the price and didn't get it. I told the dude there, wow that is frigging expensive. He said up, but you get the discount... I decided to use Roots Organics HPK 0-5-4. And probably, almost certainly, HP2 which is 0-4-0 bat guano. Of course, if I hadn't have been buying the Bionicare Bloom when I freaked out over the price of the Hydroplex, I would have opted for FF BB and took Roots Organic products and been done with it.

Here we have the sativa that reminds my of Cousin It. She is a rotund girl getting close to 6' tall and almost that much wide. It shouldn't refer to my girl as "It," though. She landed in a great spot that still gets much sun. She was basically laid to rest here as a seedling well more than half dead. All of her leaves were pale yellow almost white with brown around the leaf margins. Within a few days her leaves were turning green, and a week later she was looking healthy again. I still don't know for sure what the problem was.

Now that sativa is beautiful! Do you know the strain or is it a bagseed?

Seriously, weaselcracker, Conradino had his finger on this when he first saw my journal. He said that these Dutch strains are bred indoors. As I understood what he was saying, they are going to flower on 12/12. Which where I live is Sept. 25. Granted, I started them later than I would have had I had my stuff together, but would it have mattered? A month or 5 weeks earlier would have been optimal. I saw a grow on another site with these same Kava Golds where they flowered by the end of July. ??? What I do know is that next year I will line up some strains that are known to be successful outside in the latitude where I live. Rest assured, though, I have my head held high and will be happy whatever the end result is in this grow.

Understand completely if you didn't buy it. Just a suggestion considering the late season & your situation. Most 420 targeted products are overpriced. Pays to shop around. Sometimes same/comparable products can be found at non 420 type stores/nurseries with slightly better prices. Looks like you did fine....Aurora Innovations is a good company imo. That plump sativa is a pretty one!:Namaste:

UncleCannabis, I just want to make sure I thank you properly for coming for a look I'm very pleased you did. You are absolutely right. I'm so lucky to have Brightlight, Conradino23, and others here watching and helping. Thanks again. They look over me and inspire me. What I love is that they want to see me figure out things while watching constantly to make sure I don't screw it up. Props to weaselcracker, Major PITA, SS, and all the others too. I love the interaction and support. It makes it more fun.

You're very welcome my friend. I appreciate the gesture and kind words but there's no need to thank me.
When I had popped in to take a look I had noticed that you were already being given very sound advice from growers that were very experienced, in your general location, and they also had something to bring to the table that I don't have which is experience with bottled nutrients.

As you've probably figured out by now, you have a great bunch of folks here looking over your shoulder and helping you along.
Follow their advise and you'll have lots of sticky buds in jars in just a couple of months.
:goodluck::peace:
