First Grow! Stealth Stereo Cabinet CFL Bagseed Attempt

Haven't had an update in awhile here, a bit busy and not much in the way of huge growth so here is the past few days of progress. But first let me say I am glad to see people still reading this, although I would probably update it even if it was just me here. Anyways, fist some replies.

Looking good! If those turn out at all like your last plant then you are in business. :ganjamon:
Thanks Reefa Cheefa, I am hoping they will turn out better than my last one ;)

Go roots go! Babies are looking quite nice!

Roots grow so fast it is amazing once they get going.

Roots are lookin' good...but not as good as that nug! ;) Much better attempt than mine lol
Neutrino, I have been smoking that Blue Dream cross all day every day and it is some fine quality herb I must say. What attempt of mine is better?

how did you do that clone in that bottle????
It was actually really easy, I didn't even use rooting gel or powder. I pulled the clone out from the underside of the plant since it wasn't getting much light after LST. Make sure you make a cut under water so air won't get into the plant and kill it. Then I took a vitamin water bottle and cut off the top then put a hole in the lid to allow the cutting to fit in. (a bit bigger than the stem of course but it shouldn't really grow until roots grow) I also put a little bit of a cotton ball around the stem to hold some moisture, doubt this is really necessary but I probably would have used perlite if I had some. I put an airstone at the bottom of the bottle and just let it sit until I noticed roots.

I just used plain water without nutes and my vitamin water bottle wasn't even light proof. One thing I did make sure to do was fashion a humidity dome out of a plastic bag and slipped it over the top of my cloning bottle. This setup isn't the best as it allows only 1 clone. I have a new bubble cloner design in my head and will build it soon so I can use it to sex my plants.

I like the new setup. Can't wait to see how these new ones turn out. Hook 'em.
Thanks Falx! Hook 'em indeed.

Whew! Alright, now for some pictures. :ganjamon:

I have had a few mushrooms growing randomly throughout my soil, I have just been killing them as I see them and trying to lower the humidity a bit more. I don't know if they came with the soil when I bought it or if they were just floatin around my place. Doesn't seem to be a real problem.

Xena up first, here she(fingers crossed) is on 6/5.

Now for Ayasha, I don't know if this one is a runt or what's going on. It seems to be pretty small for its age. (about 10 days?) Today it started looking a bit better as you can tell from the photos, might have been the small amount of damage it received as a seedling.

Please keep the comments coming, entices me to update more. ;)

Shrooms a problem? pfff...lol, I am not a soil guy but I dunno they are a fungus so maybe it could hurt a plant? Like I said don't really know just a thought, either way they are looking pretty healthy nice close nodes so far on that developed one.

The nodes are super tightly packed, from the top it looks like a normal plant and then from the side it looks like an umbrella. I was hoping the shrooms would be of the magic variety but I have just been yanking them out as I see them. At least mushrooms grow in soil and not on the plant.

This is true about the shrooms, I guess no harm but it is always worth looking into :grinjoint:

Looking good man :) Thanks for fillin me in. Im building my bubble cloner tomorrow...seems pretty easy ill post pics n my forum when im all finished. I can send ya the link to the thread if u want... it seems so simple and easy and effective!! ;) As expected your babies are looking awesome keep it up

Whew I am a bit out of it at the moment, a bit too much drinking and then smoking hahaha. Bubble cloners are the shit, I plan to pick up some sort of rooting hormone in the future to reduce the rooting time hopefully and have a multi bubble cloner similar to the ones in that thread in the works. Just need to find the right tupperware container and I have a humidity dome made from a salad box. Once I get it done I will put up some pictures, I want to get some net pots or some sort of media besides cotton balls :ganjamon:

Okay so I prepared this post yesterday and smoked and then left and never posted it. I am way exhausted at the moment so going to just post what is up and then update tomorrow when I am rested.

Well I may have some bad news. Ayasha has not grown much so I went and did some investigating and discovered that her subsurface stem looks like crap. It is very shriveled and brown looking and has not increased in size compared to the actual stem. Is this root rot or something else? I plucked her out of the soil and replanted a bit deeper to get some of the thicker stem under soil and hopefully grow roots. I was going to attempt and chop then 'clone' it and see if I could get roots to grow again.

I tried to get a few pictures to show the stem and root size difference. When I did pull her out of the soil the root mass was extremely small but didn't look 'rotted', just small.

And as for today, Ayasha seems to be growing somewhat but her first set of fan leaves are yellowish and I will see what happens. Still having shrooms popping up randomly. They seem to just grow and then die when they get too big and too dry. Will see if I can grow one ;)

Here is a picture I just took of Ayasha to show the yellowing leaves.
P1020665_Medium_.JPG

I will update tomorrow with pictures of both plants.

What kind of soil are you using? I had some shrooms growing under two of my girls and they are the only two that are looking wrong. The leave stems seemed super soft and fell off just touching them. I checked on them everyday after that and I think I pulled em all (hopefully) before they could spore anymore.

obliviconsent, I am using Miracle Grow Moisture Control Potting Soil. I don't really like it at all and I plan to get a bag of FFOF for my next grow. I should hopefully be getting some seeds from Amsterdam as well as Colorado by the end of the summer. ;)

Ayasha is looking kinda iffy, very slow growth and yellowing of lower leaves still. I also wreaked some havoc on the male clone I still have revegging. I topped/FIM'd it to see how it would react and I think it may be a bit stressed because it hasn't done anything in a few days.

Here is a picture of the pruned clone.

Here is a side by side picture of Xena and Ayasha to show the size difference...

Now for the update on Xena. I started to add a little bit of nutes a few days ago and seems to be doing fine. Has really started to take off growing finally and has a really dank smell so far. I am very surprised at how pungent the smell is this early on.

I gotta say I loveee the way INDICA forums so quickly.
My sativas are skinny things.
Ima drop in and check out this grow.
~mOe

Yeah I am happy at how quickly they grow, I am not sure what type this is. I want to say it is a hybrid for sure since it doesn't have huge indica leaves but they aren't lanky and skinny either so not a large % sativa. I have some big things in plan for when the summer is over and I am done moving around. I will be building a flowering cab and probably use this as a mother/clone veg chamber as well as having some real strains to grow :slide:

Thanks SanibelGreen, I have had my fan blowing on these since they were seedlings. My original male plant only had a fan after it was at least a few weeks old and that thing had a monster stem so I am excited to see what these look like. Also, on Xena I 'supercropped' her main stem and it definitely rebuilt thicker.

Here is a picture of Xena after the LST when the lights came on. You can see the really thick part of the stem in this picture.

And the male clone from Pandora seems to be growing after being topped and transplanted. I think it took a while to being revegging since I took the clone during flowering as well as all the stress from moving and training. I still like this plant even though it is a male, has some definite purple hues (probably because its so stressed) but going to use this as my experimentation plant (hence the FIM/topping).

Sorry for the crappy quality, it focused on the leaves instead of the new growth and my camera abruptly ran out of batteries.

P1020679_Medium_.JPG

More pictures once I can get some batteries charged up.

No batteries yet, I did purchase a thermometer/hygrometer and my temps are apparently a bit warm (high of 91). I can make them more manageable (low 80s down to mid 70s) by just keeping my cab door cracked.

Xena is looking good, but Ayasha is still super tiny and seems to be covered in little trichs.

I also came home today and opened my cab and got a pretty nice smell in my face. Here is hoping to girls!

Update! :) Today I opened up the cab and Xena was looking great so I decided to 'update' her LST.

First a picture of Xena this morning with the new thermometer/hygrometer (at first I thought it was a piece of junk but it seems pretty accurate from what I can tell).
P1020684_Medium_.JPG

And after moving the placement of my LST strap. Notice the nice thick stem from a little supercrop pinch and the new growth at the bottom of the plant from LST.
P1020689_Medium_.JPG

Now for some bad:

Ayasha is not showing much sign of improvement at all. I don't want to just kill it because I am in no hurry to flower I am just wondering if it will survive. The leaves have been yellowing for some time but the new growth is still green just not growing much. I placed a humidity dome over her just to see if it will do anything (seems to make it a perfect environment for those mushrooms as 3-4 are growing and already as tall as Ayasha). Stem is still very spindly as well.

Showing yellowing.
P1020686_Medium_.JPG

And with the little humidity dome; I took this before the mushrooms grew btw.
P1020688_Medium_.JPG

And finally one more bit of bad news. The clone I had originally taken from Pandora is doing pretty terrible after messing around with it so much. It had been growing great as the previous pictures showed, but I tortured this poor male by supercropping it 2x, FIM/topping, and transplanting it all within a few days. It still shows sign of new growth from the topped area but the entire stem is purple and the leaves are a bit withered looking and pale with some purple around the edges. I don't care all too much as it is a male after all I am just using to experiment on with different growing techniques. I think it may be pH, but I don't have a really accurate test besides strips. Does anyone know exactly what may be wrong with it? (btw I was going to see if I could stress it to turn hermi or female)

Here he is as of now. Just a few updates back all the leaves were green and looking fine.

Feedback please! ;)

Was the soil flushed well? What king of water were you using? What is the humidity? temp? Could be some nutrients in the soil causing burn or like you suggested Ph probs, also looks like it needs to be misted as well as more humidity in general.....Let me know some info!

I moved the clone out from directly under the lights into the cooler corner to keep water loss from the leaves down as well as putting a vented dome over to keep a little extra humidity near the plant. It probably has some nute burn now that I think about it as I don't think I ever flushed the pot. Gonna go ahead and do that now. :) I had been using purified and distilled water from the store but said screw it and have been refilling the jugs and letting them sit open for a day to get rid of the Cl. Temps seem to range from 74-92 at the highest and that is only if I seal the box completely and leave for awhile. I normally leave it cracked and it sits in the mid 80s.

Also, I have a question. What are these 420 points used for? And how am I earning them?

I do not know about the points but your area has to be cooler, mine does not go above 83 and to me 83 is still hot but down south here you just cannot get rid of the heat. :( But ya flush that thing out and just let it chill with reg water for a bit, should see some change!
