First Grow! So Very Excited To Share The Progress Day By Day

Day 51 - August 13, 2018: Temp 80 and humidity 37%. I can tell already that she is thirsty again. Going to go half strength nutes for the first time tonight. I went ahead with one more heavy defoliation. Hoping it will help with the stretch. I decided it's starting to freak me out a little bit due to height restrictions. Thought maybe taking some more fan leaves would counteract the vertical growth.

P.S. Sorry for the crooked canopy pic. Almost ten tops that are flush on the canopy, with two more stretching hard trying to make it to the top. Would be nice to have a dozen colas.

Day 53 - August 15, 2018: Temp 79 and humidity 40%. I couldn't help myself but defoliate again. I took more than ever this time. I'm afraid she's stretching too much and will outgrow the 4 foot tent. Hoping that clipping this many fan leaves help stop the stretch and helps her focus on budding. There are only about 6 inches left between the light and the filter because I was forced to raise the light another inch. She's grown about an inch a day for the last 10 days. Fed half strength nutes on Monday, she might even be ready to drink again tonight.

Overall I'd say she looks pretty damn healthy. There are about 12 bud sites (minimum) on each stalk, for a total of 10 stalks that should be at least 120 nugs. The hairs are getting longer and more pronounced at each site, and each site finally has hairs now.

Looks like your only option is to do some tieing. Get each branch and tie it back towards the corners of your tent. This will bring your plant down to like half size as well as let light easily travel down the middle of your plant so all those lower buds get pristine light too. Its the perfect option for you since u have all that room in there.

I've done it time and time again and it absolutely slows down vertical growth and gives that lower stuff a chance to catch up to the tops.

Heres an example of mine, mine were WAY taller and stretch got away from me lol.

See all the green ties? Thats all u gotta do. You can even tie a string/rope in the back 2 bars so u can use that string to tie branches off in the middle. Dont be afraid to pull them as low down as u want, but be careful of pulling so hard that the branch splits down below, i've had that happen once but was paying attention and backed off. Once you have all ur top branches tied off towards all the corners and spread out, you will have plenty of room plus it will stall the upper growth and allow lower to catch up, win win.

Makes sense. Really the only thing stopping me from doing this is the inconvenience when it comes time to water. I will consider it if the stretching continues! Thanks!

Day 57 - August 19, 2018: Sorry for the four day gap in posting. Took a few pics today. Gave her a little bit of water today, even though she was hella thirsty. I have to show a friend how to water her tomorrow. Will probably give 1/2 strength nutes tomorrow too.

Nug sites are everywhere. Each stalk has literally a dozen nugs. Take a look for yourself!

QUESTION, PLEASE HELP:

I'm running out of space in my tent. Only about another three and a half inches until my light will be forced at an angle because of the filter. Currently, the light is only about three inches from the canopy, and from what I'm reading lately it should probably be more like 12 inches from the top of the canopy.

I'm afraid to raise the light any higher for the fear of continuing to induce stretch. But at the same time, I want the light to be the proper distance from the canopy. If it only needs to be kept further away because of temperature issues, I think I don't really have a problem with the tops of nugs/leaves burning from the heat. So maybe it's ok to leave the light this close?

Day 59 - August 21, 2018: Temp 78.2 and humidity 42%. I noticed a slight curling of tips on the leaves this morning. Possible from a mini overdose of nutes. I trimmed almost ALL of the baby leaves at the bottom of the plant. Some of them had hairs at their nodes, but it just seemed like they were too small and too far down the plant to be able to provide adequate nugs for the amount of nutrition they probably steal. So I axed those bitches. The base of the plant looks mighty fine with a big ol' knuckle of a stalk holding it all together. I counted 17 total stalks. Even if I ended up with just two grams per stalk, I would be incredibly happy with 34 grams. But I'm pretty sure that's quite some ways down the road still. Too soon to start guessing potential yield based on the number of bud sites?

Still freaking out a little about my height problem. I've decided I'm less worried about the light having to be tilted at an angle because of the filter, and more worried about her just outgrowing the space entirely. When nugs start to form on the top, do they still see a lot of vertical growth? Or do the nugs mostly just fatten, giving the appearance of growing vertically?

The stretch has been happening for about 16 days now, my gut says it's close to over if not already over.

Thoughts?

Hi there !

I am here again,

Ok from what I see you didn't took my advice  I have the same space 2x2x4 with only 2plants and gosh i can tell you that I could have easily fill the space with only one more spreaded ;)

I have manage the height with a net as I told you so :)

I fear that you didn't optimized your space and light efficiency. I am with only 200w LED and look my plants.
Sorry, my goal is not to make you angry don't take it bad. But from what I see It's such a waste, you had so much potential :Namaste:

You chopped down possible future buds. It would have become buds I you had put them at the same height with an heaven canopy. This is not difficult, first grow for me too ;)

Day 65 - August 27, 2018: Temp 79 and humidity 40%. I noticed on a handful of leaves the tips are starting to curl down. Tomorrow when I use nutes, I'm going to avoid the ones that are high in nitrogen because I think it could be because of nitrogen toxicity. That being said, I've still never used more than 1/2 dose of nutes.

I finally got around to tying off the stalks towards the sides of the tent. Hoping this will provide room in case she grows a few more inches. Hairs getting longer and longer while I patiently wait for actual buds to form. My magnifier for the trichomes finally came in the mail, so I'm excited about that.

After pulling stalks to side and adjusting light up practically as far as it goes, my newest concern is that not all of the buds are getting proper lighting now. Hopefully the pictures do justice and someone can say whether or not they think the placement of everything is ok.

PS, sorry for the missing entries the last few days, I was on vacation!

Day 67 - August 29, 2018: Temp 74 and humidity 40%. Buds are starting to thicken up a bit more. I'm having issues using the magnifier I got, so will have to sort that in the coming weeks.

Any guesses on projected bud weight? I have nothing to go against so I have no idea.

Day 69 after her nap. What a beautiful site. Gave her another half dose of nutrients. Will go two more waterings regular and then up the dosage to 3/4. :D

Lovely GIRLS my friend! Out of curiosity, have you noticed any potency increases from defoliating specific fan leaves at certain stages? Personally, my plants love it!
*Girl. You know I wouldn’t be able to compare, but I maintained hefty defoliation throughout. If you look back through the journal it’s fairly well documented. Part of my first grow philosophy is that every set of nodes should maintain at least one fan leaf except one or two on each stalk. My thoughts were that 1 fan leaf per set of nodes would supply enough juice to the nugs, without supplying too much juice to growth.

Day 74: September 5, 2018

Full dose of nutes yesterday. Tips of leaves around the top of plant are starting to turn color a little.

I haven't looked at trichomes recently, but last week they were crystal clear.

Day 78: September 9, 2018 - Temp 78 and humidity 40%. Everything looks good and well as the flowers get bigger. I've started giving 3 liters at a time. I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to give 3.5 liters because the runoff has become less and less each time. Pics for your viewing pleasure.

Day 79: September 10, 2018 - I have a bad feeling about what she's going to look like when I open up the tent tonight. I took a sneak peak earlier and the leaves look exceptionally jagged. Hoping it's just a figment of my imagination.
