First Grow! So Very Excited To Share The Progress Day By Day

Day 27 - July 20, 2018: The tobacco water seems to be doing the trick. I coated them last night, and this morning before she went to sleep. After she woke up, I noticed no new signs of eggs, mites, or holes in leaves. She's becoming very bushy, and the LST I started seems to be working. The main stalk is about 45 degrees, and today was the first day I've started to manipulate the other branches. Unfortunately, the only thing I could come up with to have one of the branches bend significantly was to position a chop stick into the dirt. Pictures attached.

Maybe where the arrows are pointing will be the main colas?

Thoughts, comments and questions appreciated!

Hi there !

It will totally be the main cola !

It totally depends on how you'll train them. You can search for scrog, or just looking at my diary, I didn't even made a true "scrog", I just put a net and disposed the apex in it but it makes the job very well to have an even canopy which is in my opinion totally needed for us (not so much powerfull COB light with lens) as our light have not much penetration throught the canopy ;)

you'll significatly raise your harvest with technics like that especially with those led :)

Also I have seen on the first page that you have plugged your carbon filter, I don't know if it's still there, you can do as you want but at this stage of the plant and with the humidity it doen, better uninstal it and put in when you'll smell something or when you'll begin the bloom =)

Kiss ++

I will check into the temperature with the filter turned off now. No better time to test than now, I'll post again in a few hours.
Cheers!

(Un)Fortunately, it smells like stinky cheese from the dumpster in the tent if the fan isn't on. Also, the temp went up to 91 in just an hour and a half. So the fan has to stay on all the time.

What objections does anyone have to me beginning flower in 10 days or so?

a couple days before you flip, do a light defoliation so light gets through the plant. Just go around chopping off fan leaf's that are blocking light to nodes below. You can also tie them out of the way if you dont like chopping them off. They will bush back up quickly due to light now getting in plus more energy going to new & small leafs.

You can also start feeding it the transition nutes 7 days before flipping, or even a few days before flipping.

This is the first time I have ever heard of transition nutes. Please, pray tell share.

I use general hydroponics trio (the 3 main bottles) and when I google 'General Hydroponics feeding schedule', I can get to their site with multiple types of feeding charts. If you view the drain to waste(for soil) or the recirculating one, you will see there is a week of 'transition' nute measurements. It's basically just adding or upping the flowering nutes to prepare your plant to have the flowering nutes prior to switching the light schedule. I wouldn't say it's required but it's listed so I follow it.

If I recall correctly, I had the vipar hung around 15' from top of canopy and would raise it when the colas grew upwards 2 inches and I would raise again to 15.

I did have some burnt tops at harvest tho so you may need to raise it a bit higher towards the end of harvest. Closer you can get away with lowering the light, the bigger better buds u will get. Just comes down to the heat that can burn the tops of buds (light burn and heat)

You can actually see some of my top buds during harvest (1st grow)looked grayer than other buds. That was the light burn. Light burn damages trichomes or degrades potency for the damaged buds. Despite having some burnt buds, they tasted great haha

Day 28 - July 21, 2018: The light is sitting at just about 16 inches above her at the moment.

Plant looks good this morning, still NO more signs of buggies or damage from buggies. Gonna do tobacco spray one more time tonight, also going to give pre-flower nutes.

Will post pics in the evening.

Looks even healthier than she did twelve hours ago. The temperature was a cool 79.2 with humidity of 38%. I cleaned the area where the tent was in and decided to rearrange a little bit. In doing so, I decided to experiment with the exhaust filter funnel too. I extended the tubing to redirect the exhaust air back towards the vent on the sides. I think it's allowing for much more air circulation in the tent, in turn decreasing the temperature.

I used 1/4 suggested use for Veg nutes. Vyserage, I decided that I will just use this last batch of veg nutes today, and hopefully get 3 or 4 more regular waterings in before switching to 12/12 next weekend. I may end up having to do it on Monday or Tuesday to ensure all those nutes are flushed.

I also repositioned the chopstick, and have added a second as a stake. The first is pulling the main stem, while the second is pulling the opposite side where it was topped in the opposite direction. Basically, splaying that bitch.

EDIT: Last two pics are after I tied her down for LST.

Looking good, I'm curious as to why you're going to flush? They are small plants in large pots, there should be no worries of salt buildup at this point. Generally, people only flush for 2 reasons:
1. Salt buildup has led to random deficiency or issues you can't find the problem to.
2. 1 week before harvest. I think in soil some even do 2 weeks.

So I'm a little surprised you plan to flush healthy plants!

Not going for a pre-light switch bloom feeding then? (The transition nutes)

I didn't know I'm not supposed to flush. Just to be clear, when I say flush I mean at least 2 full waterings after giving nutes. But maybe after the second watering I'll go into flower nutes. Is it even productive to give bloom nutes before you know the sex?

Flushing is when you pour plain water without any extras into your pots with the amount being 3x the pot size (3gal=9 gal of water poured through, ect.)

It's used to rid soil of salt buildup which can lead to any and all issues. I have yet to run across salt buildup personally.

You flush to also 'reset' or lower the amount of nutes in the soil to which you add a gallon at a time and measure the point value of new water runoff. For example, my first grow I mistakenly used miracle grow soil that was quite strong in time released nutes via beads that popped as they got wet. Ppm was in the 4000+ range so I had to keep flushing until 1500ish ppm.

A flush before harvest is to get all that chemical out of buds so the plant eats itself rather than nutes you give.

If you're just adding water to feed the plants, I wouldn't call that a flush, just a plain water feeding. The thing about when you switch is it needs extra bloom nutes and by feeding it those extra before you flip, it has them vs not feeding bloom and only having small amounts around from lower dose veg nutes (bloom)

Ahhhh I understand. Well, I'll do two more waterings, then give flower nutes and shoot for several days after that for the switch.

Hopefully I explained it clear enough haha.

It's always productive to feed your plants. If males come up either way you toss em out so imo it's good to do anything for your plants that helps push it along regardless if it's male or female.

That sounds perfect
