First Grow - Bag Seeds - Germinated July 27 2015

What kind of lights are you using? Cfl? You may need to exhaust the heat with a fan.....im using an inline hurricane fan with a 400 watt hps. My tent runs 80 degrees f. I exhaust it for 1 hour afterwards to hopefully prevent mold from humidity. Hope this helps.

Hi ponticaman. All cab lights are CFL.

Just one pic today because I really was one toke over the line this morning. Hitting the upper limit on coffee and cigs too.

You will note at least the potassium deficiency which hopefully was corrected this morning with nutes at full strength for Grow and Bloom. pH 6.35.

Hard for me to tell if nutes helped. I still suspect lock out due to pot size. Next time we'll go with a custom fabric pot. Anyway, I've decided that they will veg one more week and we will flip to 12/12 next Friday or so.

Ooo... Exciting. I flip Carnival this week sometime too, the first time I pull that little trick off. My plants were all autos, or auto expressive due to the 11/13 lighting. This is such great fun. A few days under 12/12 or less and things get much more interesting. Still like watching the most exciting grass grow, but then they get stinky and all your senses alert. Hahaha!

I don't think I'll ever tire of the run up to harvest. :woohoo: Sorry Jim, by now you should be used to the enthusiasm. :battingeyelashes:

Cab girls got their nute feeding this morning and lamps were changed to 60 W (14W at wall) 2700k CFLs. At 6:00 tonight they will go to a 12/12 schedule. I'll do whatever I can to separate those tops within the screen. I'm starting to wonder if a two month veg is normal but I have no way of knowing anything about this strain.

It's fairly typical to take two months for begging. It usually takes a mont or so to get the initial core of th root ball established and then it's a matter of putting on the stature and getting the canopy under control before you flip, if that's your intent. Sometimes it's more desirable to let them go natural.

The standard seems to be at least two months veg and two months flower, but each plant is an individual. Yours are complete unknowns. I'd figure at least 100 days from seed to harvest, with the expectation that it could take up to three weeks longer. I think they're going to challenge your closet. I suspect that by the time you harvest you won't want to ever see that cabinet again, although, if you run photos it would make a decent veg area.

Congrats on your first flip. I did a dance of joy. You? :battingeyelashes:

No...no dancing here. I guess I might be more interested in seeing if these girls really are girls. If the sex were known I'd either veg them longer or I'd sharpen the axe.

I'm really having more fun in the tent with that LED and all that soil those girls are enjoying. Duggan's got me convinced there. Jim

Hi Jim,

Isn't the first grow fun? I'm loving it, biting your nails every time you're about to pop your head in to check on the kids, trying to save up enough to help them pay for their first semester at college... ahh yes.

I'm in my first grow as well and it's so exciting every day, I find the hardest thing so far is trying to pay attention to them and see what they're trying to tell me they want.

Anyhow, I'm excited to see how yours turn out! Hope they're ladies but either way, it's a fun ride!

Looks like you've gotten over some hurdles already so it's a win no matter what!

Hi gearthbeta....Yes, it really has been an adventure. Welcome.

Got plenty of these seeds Spitz, but cloning is in my future.

Ha.. Agreed. It would take me 3 lifetimes to grow each of the strains I have. Oddly enough, I was just looking for more. Searching for a heirloom Thai. I know I should take a clone of every plant I grow, just in case, but I dont. I can read the headline now in the FAQ section:

"Help! Reveg Help! My plant won't reveg and I can't lose these genetics"

Master Graytail would be pleased, but it would only go to his head, so let's not tell him. Not that he was your influence for such a move Jim. Just that it made me laugh from the memory. Haha!

They look like they appreciated it. Have you asked Cy how he can determine sex by his leaves? I'm certain his dad taught him a valuable trick that works every time. Might want to touch base with him, have him take a gander at your pictures. Just a thought.

12/12 Started 10/3/2015

A few things done this morning. Still have a few fungus gnat issues as I saw two in the cab this morning. The diatomaceous earth treatment was 9/17 and gnat life cycle is supposedly 30 days. I crumbled a mosquito dunk and spread the material in the cab and in all the pots in the tent; although no gnats have been seen there.

Cab girls got full strength nutes grow/bloom. Sprayed plants with insecticidal soap and neem oil.

Adjusted timer to compensate for a few minutes of power outage yesterday.

DE needs to be reapplied fairly regularly, but most particularly after you water. It also works best if you can puff it on as a fine mist instead of applying as a powdery topdress. The fine particulates won't compact like the field of it will, so the gnats can't avoid getting the exoskeleton damaged. I've seen them casually stroll across a white field of DE and come away unblemished. Puff it on and they don't stand a chance.

The mosquito dunks will work. Most people lose patience and you have to stay vigilant as they do their own magic.

Higher Brix plants don't often have problems with pests, so learning to increase the general health of the plants is a worthy goal for all of us.

Hmmmm. Over at Sue's grow I've been reading about males. I'll lay, sit or squat down on the floor again today for a proper inspection and clean up the cab girls. I look in every morning just to see that the babies are still alive, then take a few pics and go on with the early part of my day. I am beginning to see signs of the stretch I've been reading about. That's pretty exciting right there.

Graytail spoke of his Dug Out and Pinch Hitter last night. He said 30 years old. I dragged mine out just for giggles and I've had this one at least that long. If used everyday, the brass pipe will shine like brass railings in the finest hotel.
