First CFL Grow Using 30 Watt CFLs

im still the elephant man, it seems my tooth is not finished with me yet, its back with avengance and im in so much pain, got some strong pain killers from my mom as its bank holiday here so docs or dentist not open till wed, so get another day of suffering to go. thanks for coming over and having a read through my journal, great idea about the vent in my cupboard, never thought about doing that, i have got an old bathroom electric fan vent then would fit in the same vent so if i fitted it and wired the fan the other way then that would draw air into the grow, plus the air would be cooler and give me more movement of air, ill give it a try.

ive been letting my tap water stand for at least 48 hours before using it as i have tropical fish and know that it takes 24 hours to remove all chlorine type chemicals from the water, ive not used a ph tester or ppm tester at all for my aerogarden witch is like hydro and ive not been using them for the 2ltr dwc hempie and both are doing really well, my tap water i tested when i get my ph tester the other day and it ranges between, 7.0 and 7.1, tested at room temp, now ive not tested it when i have added nutes to it, but this is what i have been giving my aerogarden and my dwc and both are doing great and growing quicker than any of my soil grows, so it cant be that bad, im not going to mess with the ph or ppm for this grow, i dont want to change something thats working, if i was having problems then id start using it, but id prefer to use it from day 1 and not start when my plants are in flower, so ill be using the ph and ppm meter when it comes for my next grow,

i did say id put some pics up but i just didnt get time to take the pics, been out with my daughter and my mom and sister and her kids watching them dance at a jubilee fair so been busy with that today, tomorrow my daughter and sisters son and daughter are dancing at the beer festival tomorrow, but im sure ill be the main attraction as the elephant man, dont even think i could get a pint down me unless i take my own straw, i looks like i got a tennis ball stuck in the one side of my mouth, couldnt even open my mouth wide enough to eat a sandwich i had to rip pieces off so i could get it in my mouth, im so hoping this tooth is done with me soon, cuz then its payback, im gona get him or her ripped out and when its out im going to dip it in some acid or or something and make it suffer like it made me suffer,

when i get back tomorrow ill get the camera off my mom again and take some decent pics, i checked the nl x bb and its not looking any different than it did but it looks like the trichs are getting thicker and more of them as it seems a lot whiter than it did yesterday so ill check them under the microscope and see what colour they are,
 
get that tooth out and when you do grind it up and make a calcium supplement for your grow:) hope you feel better soon.:peace:

thanks for your concern mate and everyone else, well last night was worse night ever, i was in that much pain that i got a knife and was starting to think about stabbing my gum as it was like a balloon, i was in tear's it was that bad, then the pain went and it was like 8am, so i fell asleep and woke up to a mouth full of warm liquid, ran to bathroom and spat it out, totally disgusting, brown warm and stinky, so all i day i had that filling my mouth, then i gave the side of my face a squeeze and loads more came out, now all the swelling has gone, im hoping its gone for good now, its was the worse thing i ever had in my mouth, smelt like i had been eating a dead rat, my mouth really stank, so anyway, the good news is, im not in any pain, only a small tiny bit of lump on my gum, thinking this will go down over night or a day or 2, so ive got no tooth ache, no swollen face, all been well im back to normal, going to try and get the dentist, last time i went i had 2 wait 2 weeks for an appointment so ill see what they say tomorrow,

so thanks everyone for all your kind words and it looks like it worked, i think im on the mend, unless it all goes down the shitter in the night, but ill guess il find out tomorrow,.

now for my plants.

nl x bb fem, this is now not far off done i think, all the trichs are cloudy now, didnt see many orange trichs, but it looks like its pretty covered now, the trichs are really close to each other now and some are starting to wilt so im thinking its nearly their, ill wait till i see some orange and wilting trichs before i chop, so im glad i never chopped it the other day, seems it did need a few days more, but ill check it again tomorrow and see what it looks like. i dont think ill get much off it, if i get half oz ill be happy,

special kush,
this is now starting to turn the white hairs and orange colour, not as much as the nl x bb seems the kush is slower to finish than the nl x bb as both have been in flower the same time, the kush is only just starting to have the white pistils wilt and start to turn orange at the end, im going to leave this as long as i can so its a nice couch lock affect for my night time smoke,

g13 poisen dwarf, now sure whats happening with this, its gone a lot longer than it should, i thought it was starting to flower and it does have flowers forming at end of branches and white hairs at nodes but it seems it just wants to keep growing, not put in bigger pot yet but now im feeling better it will go in 3g pot tomorrow.

this is showing sex and is still growing, i have pruned a small number of leaves as it was blocking growth lower down so i pruned it and it got the lower parts growing again, it seems on schedule due to what the seed bank said, but time will tell,

2ltr dwc hempie, ak47 cross uk cherry cheese, this is going a bit crazy, loads of leaf growth, its well in flower and i think by the looks of it the bud will be pretty fat around the main stem, well thats how it looks anyways, ill try and get some pics up when i get hold of the camera again
 
i think im well on the way to recovery, i dont think the dog will come near me stinking like i do, been using mouth wash but still smell like shit, i never tested ph as i didnt have a tester, it was only when i got one the other day that i tested the tap water and found it was 7.1, but all i do is let the tap water stand for over 24 hours then use it, either mix up the nutes and feed the plants in the soil, which is where the problem with the slow growth i had comes from as adding bpn to 7.1 water will lower the ph to low to make it good for the soil grow, but it should be at about the right range for my aerogarden and my dwc hempie, either way they are growing like crazy and seem to be loving the water,

i will be starting my next grow by using the ph tester and ppm tester, i have read you not meant to test the ph before feeding your meant to check it after you have fed, so ill need to read up on all this ph stuff as i know nothing about it, but this grow will finish as is and so far so good, no problems with the aero or dwc, if i had a problem i would test it and post the results so you could advice on what i needed to change, i know nothing about ph or ppm, but i bought the testers so i can try my next grow and do it all controlled and see if it makes and difference on what i got first time round

hi all, i just had a touch of luck, i just got another msg saying my ph tester had been sent and i should receive it soon, i sent them a msg back saying i received it about a week ago so is this msg sent in error, i said if i do receive the 2nd one then ill post it back if they send me their address, anyways i just got an email back through the rain forest site thanking me for letting them know and im more than welcome to keep the 2nd ph tester, i couldnt believe it, so now ive got another ph tester on its way to me and should be here tomorrow, so ive ended up getting 2 ph testers for £10 or $18 roughly, which isnt bad going, so ill either keep it for a spare in case the first messes up as i dont know how long these things stay acurate for, or ill gift it to someone who needs it, that is if i do actually get the 2nd one, they said a 2nd one has been sent out as the 1st order was not entered into their system properly so to them it looked like they had not sent me one out so they have sent another thinking they never sent the 1st one, so all been well im going to have 2 ph testers,

quick update on the nl x bb fem, i had a good look at this under microscope all trichs are cloudy and some not many are orange and looks like their wilting so im thinking its about ready to harvest, its not as much as i wanted but not bad for the 1st go at growing this time round, i think i had problems during veg with stunted growth, possibly ph issue or cfls kept the plant short and bushy and this has resulted in shorter buds, when i switched to hps i got a lot more stretch so im thinking this maybe the reason why.

the special kush has not got many orange hairs yet so got a while to go, both went to flower at the same time but are finishing at different times, i took a small bud off the nl x bb 2 days ago and just left it on my laptop where it could dry in the slight heat my laptop gives off, now its dry it looks just like the buds id get in a bag i had bought, smells just like it as well, can really smell the big bud in it, the special kush is going to give me a whole lot less yield as the buds are really short and fat but looks like its got more trichs on it, ill leave the nl x bb till later or possibly in the morning depending how i feel, i have not noticed any change at all in the plant over the last 2 days, no growth or fattening of buds, i really think its now done, the trichs are all cloudy and as i want this for more of a day time smoke i think its ready, on each sweet leaf i can see a couple of orange trichs and a couple that are a light orange colour so im thinking if i want it as day time smoke then i should harvest now,

the special kush will be flowered till the death i want all the trichs a orange colour,

the leaves you got after the trim are called surgar leaves this is good the leaves you trimmed before were feeder leafno good for smoke but good for grow:) them surgar leaves are going to have trichs all over them and thats what you want for making hash or you can just smoke it with the rest of your bud and they will make you smile. so dont be so quick to give up on the trimming yet. but you can do what you like:high-five:
 
i know what your saying, we call it sweet leaf, well thats what it was called back in the day, im just saying that these sweet leaf wont need trimming from the buds, their is only a small amount that poke out from the bud itself, in the past i had trimmed a load of sweet leaf to stop the bud tasting chloroform if thats the right word, but it seems in this nl x bb plant the leaves in the buds are small, hardly any poking out, ill keep any stem that has tricks on it and any leaves that have trichs on, some of the bigger leaves do have trichs but only a small amount, it just seems that the bud leaves have stayed small and not grew much out of the buds, not sure if this is right or not, possibly due to me under watering a few weeks back, its the only thing i can see that would cause them no to grow as much, it just looks like i wont have much waste or sweet leaf at all, the same on the kush, the buds and sweet leaf are really tight and packed and very little growing outside of the buds,

but on my 2ltr hempie its a whole different story, the leaves in the buds are big and have grown loads and are covered in trichs, so their will be a lot left over from the hempie, im not sure why im not going to get much trim of the nl x bb or the kush, but im just not getting much growth from the buds leaf wise, the fan leaves are all at the bottom of the plant and stems, all i got is the odd fan leaf near the buds and the rest is bud with only a tiny amount of leaf growing out of the buds, i have kept any leaves i have pulled that have had trichs on and kept them in a box, ill be doing the same with the trim from this also and it will be dried and stored or dried and froze as it seems freezing will remove the trichs easier when it comes to making hash, im just amazed that im not getting much waste from the nl x bb, it seems strange,
 
as far as harvest goes there are more opinions on this then how to grow so here is mine 2weeks prior to flush your soil with pure water no nutes let her use all thats stored in her leaves chop the hole plant and either hang it or you can place it on window screens so air is moving around it keep it in the dark with some kind of air circulating around her. if you use the screen the bud will become more compact as the weight of themselves will press them down abit. after a week or so they should snap at the stem fairly easy. now after that is something that I to am new to and thats curing but Iam doing it now and Iam digging the results. I put mine in a storage container with a lid tupperware I open it every day and take the buds out and trade places with whats on the bottom and the top let them breath for about a half hour and close the lid tight. repeat the next day snd so on till you are happy with it. good luck:circle-of-love:
 
thanks, ill reps you if i can, the nl x bb has only been having plain tap water, its ph is 7.1, i let it stand for at least 24 hours to remove and chlorine, so it should be ok to flush with, ive been giving the plants that for the last 2 drinks so think i should be ok, ive never cured before though so will be trying it this time, ive got some curing jars from a shop the other day so ill be trying them with these buds, before i just cut the plant up and hung it on string in a cupboard till dry then it was bagged up and sold, but im not selling any of what i now grow as im not growing it and smoking it just to get wasted, so it wont be sold, but i am going to try curing and see what it turns out like,

the small bud i cut off the other day looks like a normal bud buy and smells really nice as well, its not been anywhere dark, in fact its been sitting on my laptop since i chopped it and ive checked it every day and now its dry so ill be trying it shortly, but looks wise it looks as it should do, just hope the rest turns out ok
 
OHh speaking of the flush, your hempy bottle wont need nearly as long of a flush as your soil one. Seriously like 2-3 days of just plain water and it will be flushed! I just give mine a double dose of plain water for 3 days, double dose so you make sure you get all the other nutes out of there and have all new water every day. Then after the last flush feeding i put them in darkness for 36-48 hours and at the end it should be pretty much bone dry and ready to chop.

I also heard a kool trick I havent tried yet my self. Cut the plant at the bottom of the main stalk (45 degree cut) and put it in a vase of water and let it drink 2 vases of pure water that way and it will help with a final flush of sorts since it is by passing the roots and going right up the stem.....at least that is how it was explained.

yes sir thats a great Idea, big pappa. they compared it to putting a piece of cellery or even a carnation in colored water showing how much color absorbed in the plants again good one brow:thumb:

thanks for the info miwa, just popping 24hour shop to get some smokes then im on the case, ill try and take pics on my fone, i need to get these plants flowered off and done so my next can go in veg, im not getting much this time round and thats for sure, but i got this to harvest, and the kush has got another week or 2 by the looks of it as it has no orange hairs and all trichs are clear none cloudy, the 2ltr hempie is then the last plant i have got under 12-12, thats got a few weeks left, the autos dont need to be under 12-12 so im not to bothered about getting them out the way, they can flower while im vegging the new batch.

is so once nl x bb is done today and the other 2 harvested then ill be switching the light to veg, and my next go round is going to be so much better, cant wait,

i just soaked a seed, a delicious juicy something or other, ill find the name when i make next post, but im soaking that to add to my veg room, at the minute in veg i got, 2 x ak47 x uk cherry cheese, 1 x special kush, 2 x nl x bb , so thats what i got in veg, im not even sure if im going to grow them out yet or not though, unsure, depends on how it smokes, might donate 1 x uk cherry cheese and 1 x nl x bb, to anyone who i can find that wants some, would prefer to grow another strain as im not to impressed with the yield, possibly why the seeds where cheap and or free,
