Fanleaf Tries For A TLO, True Living Organics, Grow With 6 Plants

Hey i've been thinking about this....what if you used full strength soil for a couple plants and the cut down version on a couple, this would be a great oppertunity for some side by side data
I was re-reading Revs stuff again today for the 3rd time. All 6 will get full strength soil with layers and spikes. I'm thinking I probably won't do the spikes in the VEG containers because I am going to be using larger containers for a good 8 week veg so I don't think they are needed as Rev mentions the same. Once they go in the 7 gallon or so flowering pots they will get new bottom layer, probably 2 high N spikes and 2 flower spikes along with the top layer of which I already mixed all of these up as shown...

I guess you missed the part where I said that we use plain old soil in parts of our containers and super soil in the bottom. We know that 100% of either soil is not as beneficial as what we are doing by using layers and zones.

So, the seedlings were 90% dry. I could still feel a tiny bit of water weight towards the bottom. The top 3/4 of the soil was dry though so it was a good day to just dampen the top portion until the bottom is ready.
I used the opportunity to introduce the Mycos. I mixed up 1/8 tsp of the Great white with 1 quart of RO water...

I only wanted to keep moisture in the pots even so each pot got 50ml of the solution which should be about the right dose for this container size anyways.

Then, I almost forgot to add the mulch I wanted to add lol. So 5 of the 6 then got their Cypress blend mulch and 1 of the 2 Black Russians got the Cannabis stem Mulch.

This should be very interesting, you seem to be following rev's directions pretty close, can't wait to see what happens. I've been reading some of my old notes and have realised i myself have never followed his recipes or instructions that closely, i never had the whole nutrient list nor did i have R/O water...etc. Anyway i think i might try one of his flowering pots just for shits and giggles, not really adapted to my style but always fun to experiment.

If you do, please start a journal. I would love to follow along to see how it works out for you too. It's definitely a different style for me too. This is a nice change for me, new and exciting :p. His writings say they must be followed to the T otherwise things go south so I'm doing my best to do just that. I have no issues with making small changes or adjustments just 1 at a time, but only after I stick straight to the book the first go at it. Like @Emilya said, (I'm paraphrasing), every ingredient in the soil is supposed to be spot on and in the right ratios of every one of them for it to stay in balance. Time will tell. I know, I'm sure looking forward to some awesome true organic stuff!

But do you really know it? I havent seen any side by side tests, if so could you direct me to it i'd love to see the results
Now you are just being argumentative Henr8, and using an invalid logical argument to try to say that if I have not done a side by side according to your specifications, I therefore have no basis for my position. I however, have a very good and documented reason for the opinions that I give.
I can even tell you how I came to these conclusions. I went through all the steps. I have grown in normal un amended soil and I know the yields that I used to achieve. In my early supersoil experiments, I indeed tried a few grows with only supersoil and no layers. Now, as my knowledge and experience level has grown, I have settled on the method that I now use and which Rev recommended in the first place, the use of layers, with supersoil and manure at the bottom and base soil and layers of nutrients at the top. The results you seek are in my journals and my experience, and I offer both of them to you with no other intent other than to show you the results. I do really know it.

It is simply intellectual laziness to accept that a soil mix is "impossible to study or that it has infinite variables... it does not.
I'm not saying it's impossible to study, just incredibly complicated. Every individual input has an impact an the others. So when were creating the experiments in the lab the idea is to isolate the variables so that you can end up with a plausible cause and effect relationship. If not you end up with studies with endless Discussion sections where you basically discredit your own work. Believe me when i first started studying soil i wanted to study the ''whole'' soil....it's kind of like trying to understand zoology by studying every animal that lives at the same time. Instead we ajust one molecule or organism at a time and note the results.

Growing in different ways, experimenting and being able to share it with the world via 420 forum brings debate and conversation among growers. Imagine that! I wonder just how far behind the curve many growers would be without the internet to advance and evolve weed growing techniques.

That is so true. I often joke that growing weed in the basement is the best decision i ever made. Got me back in school and got me a farm. None of that would have been possible without all this info i picked up on forums.

Lights just turned on for the day. So far, Malawi X Panama is the runt of the litter and has been since day one. That being said, look at our little runt today. She is really trying to show off by stretching up towards the light more vigorously than the other five of her bigger sisters.

Nothing else happening with them today. Everything is looking good and coming along nicely.

I'm betting on the black russian with the cannabis stem mulch !!

I've never grown any of these strains but I have wondered for a few years why I haven't planted those seeds lol. I'm watching the Malawi for now. That was a tiny seed and I'm hoping she surpasses all expectations I have.

Great thread bro, I have been wanting to get into TLO growing but didnt know where to start. Now with everything I have read here already, I know what bboks to get my hands on.
Thanks @fanleaf and @Emilya for the insight greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you Orlando! Glad to see the thread is encouraging debate and spreading useful information. As things start to speed up with the grow, it should get very interesting.

:ciao::nomo:

Love your light build. I put something like that down on paper until I started running prices. It's still on paper haha.
Thanks Turbo. No doubt building them that way is expensive. VERY! Prices have come down a little bit but roughly $80-90 per cob is what a build like it costs in total. Thankfully, I'm very happy with the choice.
