Escape Velocities: Syenite's Stealth Miniatures

You demons!

@13goody13 .. I see you online! Please be the tiebreaker.

Pistils came out in the last 24-48 hours. Do you think there's any point in LST here? I don't know how much more this plant is going to grow. If it's barely going to get any taller, I'd be inclined to let it go straight up now.
I've definitely done training at that point, they still grow quite a bit sometimes. For me it was worth it. Thanks for the shout!

Thank you my friend!! :Namaste:

Trellis 2 - 1 @InTheShed

Ok ok, in all seriousness, I'll keep the trellis and ties for the next few days and continue monitoring.

If the plant shows a good rate of (vegetative) growth over the next week, I'll leave the trellis!

Grub, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, day 8 of 12-12

She's looking good, folks! :thumb:

As is typical of the early flowering stages, she is bushing out, and up, rapidly. Her node stacking is tight. I also spotted her first pistils today!

I'm a little concerned with how crowded the canopy is. I was just saying over in @InTheShed 's journal that I may have to defoliate a bit more than I would ideally like, in order to maximise light penetration and also keep the RH manageable. We'll see at the end of stretch! There'll probably be quite a few lower fan leaves that aren't blocking anything that could stay.

IMG_0741.jpg

And here's how the box is looking right now. I might shorten the trellis further as it seems unlikely that I will be able to take full advantage of its current height, but I'll give it another few days before making that call.

Grub still has plenty of headroom which is nice. One less thing to stress about. I shouldn't speak too soon either, still a couple more weeks to go in stretch.

You'll notice I've given them plenty of heavy reading so they can make the most of the light! :laughtwo:

:thanks::cheer::surf:

Probably a good idea, both to keep me upright and to lessen the shadows it's casting. That's a lot of thickness for a little plant.

LOL!

I think that trellis will fill up yet

I think you're both right. I'll be trying to find the sweet spot with that trellis, making sure that it's not a waste of space/blocking too much light, while also ensuring that there will be enough of it to manage the plant.

I did some research via GrowDiaries and checked out other people's grows of the same Humboldt Blue Dream auto. I learnt a couple of things:

1. Its showing pre-flowers at week 4 wasn't caused by a mistake I made, that's just when they typically do so
1b. I could've done better by raising the plant earlier and giving it more light, but I was definitely unprepared for the speed of auto growth
2. Based on other grows, I see that this cultivar often grows quite a bit still after week 4/preflowers

I'm glad I didn't chuck her out yesterday. :cheer:

Honestly.. I hesitated over including certain books. I made some tough choices there.

Hey brother. She’s got a beautiful green to her. Mmmmm

Cheers BC! She's an even deeper green in natural light! :high-five:

Grub is stacking nicely mate. Looks like she’s going to be generous to you. :yummy:

Thanks DD! Yeah I'm very pleased with the internode spacing. I'm so curious as to what her flower structure will be like.

According to Katsu's accounts of the Pre-98, hard golfball nugs are typical.

Lazy-ass-Sunday update!

Our social obligations have been picking up towards the end of the year, so have had less capacity to be on the mag. However, the promise of a chill summer is strong, and I will drag myself across the dirty floor of December to get there.

These are some photos from last night.

Loom, HSC Bigfoot Glue (GG#4 x Humboldt Headband), day 47

Base building is kicking along. This part is the slowest-seeming, although also the part that requires the most care and attention.

You can't easily tell from these photos, but I've already pruned the "sideways" secondary nodes, leaving the "vertical" ones.

10 or 12 colas are still possible, but at this point I am aiming for just 8, and inclined towards not cramming the cabinet.

Grub, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, day 5 since first stigma, day 12 of 12-12

She's just killing it.

Most nights I just tip my hat to her and say, "Please carry on, ma'am!"

Too funny, it’s real! I honestly once stopped myself using Bertrand Russel’s History of Modern Western Philosophy for a plant riser. Just couldn’t disrespect the plant in that way! :laughtwo:

The Sour Bubba nugs have that going on - yep, golf balls. :thumb:

Loving the trellis. My tent bamboo kung fu is starting to look kind of, accidentally, similar. All the greenness is a goodly green! :ciao:

Beautiful Sye :)

Thank you Tra!! I'll have to catch up on all your new video content. Your garden is blowing up! :ganjamon:

:headbanger:
Grub’s looking terrific at 12³ :cheer:
Great gardening. :peace:

Thank you DD! I can't wait to see (and smell) some flowers!!

I'm so hyped for this particular future! :yummy:

:high-five::green_heart::thanks:

Oh jesus, Amy!!! That book could be very, very confusing and unsettling for a plant, especially when its just wee!

I do also have some really dense and intense stuff in that pile. I hope the plants forgive me for it!

I'M SO READY FOR THESE FLOWERS!!!!!!!!

Lol, I'm starting to really love this unsteady walk/dérive/improvisation, especially since all the other plants have more or less grown in a completely predetermined fashion (cf. my totalizing egomania).

Have you posted an update with pics of said kung fu?? Keen to see!

Wish, HSO Blue Dream auto, day 33 above ground

It's the first of December. Lol. Wtf.

This girl has reached the end of her growth spurt!

Still a tiny thing, really! The trellis has been cut down to fit. I was sad not to be able to take full advantage of it, but it's given me a good sense for the conditions under which I would actually use it. In fact, it will probably be crucial for a certain future grow...

I was glad, at least, to expose more of Wish's secondary growth, and to attain a relatively even canopy along her spine. It fits very well next to Grub in the cardboard box.

I'm curious to see what I can get out of this one. It has a distinctly floral note that rises above the usual dank.

:thanks: :thumb: :tommy: :yummy:

My autos would double in size after they showed pistils, so there's that!

She had a few days after showing, where she grew like an inch a day?? But has seemingly slowed now.

What's left of the trellis should be able to constrain a few more inches' growth, if it comes to that. :thumb:

There’s always room for one more
She looks great. She’s going to give you a good taste of the blue dream - a cultivar James Loud reckons can not be improved upon. Nice work :high-five:
