Equanimity's First Grow - Lemon Kush - Canna Coco - CFL

Hey, now, see? I kinda wish I'd read your whole journal, but I suck. haven't and probably won't. Stumped kind of underlined what I've been thinking, but he said the whole thing out loud. Flowering is the last hurrah, that last burst. Repottiing just before makes sense, but not during. PeeJay is dealing with the roots, giving them their best shot with what you already got. My kinda guy!

I'm getting ready to bet another shiny dime or two that your girls are not root bound. "Root Bound" is a catch phrase that gardeners use at tea parties when they are referring to plants whose roots have twisted together under the soil in pots. Too many roots, not enough pot. My bet is that now they are not root bound. They look so great! They may become root bound, but, well, then I'll loose a penny and you may loose that 4th jar I'm hoping for.

But, I'm only betting on three jars at least, so somehow I still win! Oh, shit, I think I just let slip that I have a side bet going on here. Dammit! My side bet is that you will fill 4th jar. <--I can't believe I just slipped. I didn't want you to know because you'd be hiding that 4th jar and keeping the damn penny for yourself!

thanks :)

I'm currently preparing more coir to top them off, theres at least 2 inches of space between the top of the coir and the pot rims that i can utilise. The coir will be boil sterlised as that worked very well for me last time; a fifth plant i had was not planted in coir that was prepared in the same way and succumbed to mould and other issues. there were other factors but if i stick to what's proven to work then i can't go wrong really.

I don't think they'll become root bound, the coir as reduced somewhat since i first potted them yet little has been lost through the bottom, also, the mass has not increased much at all so the roots must still be thin and light to a certain degree. With the extra two inches of coir per pot i imagine i can see it through in these pots. Hopefully lol

disaster appears to have struck.

i went down today to continue preparing the new coir and noticed the lights were still on; they were supposed to go out at 8am but did not

this is the second proper day of 12/12 and i'm wondering if this will hermiate my plants.

i've swapped over the timer to a new one set to go off at 8am and come on at 8pm

was i too late?

well i think i know how to check for bollocks and stuff so I'll just keep an eye on them.

i really hope a broken timer doesn't screw me up at this stage though or I'll visit the manufacturer and cause a disturbance lol

A friend on here had a timer failure about half-way through flower. Her timer didn't shut off and she was under lights 24/7 for at least a couple of days. Her grow was in the basement and she had been down there but only when the lights would have been on anyway. Her plants reverted to veg. It was messy! In the end she got a decent harvest but the buds weren't great. Timers are inexpensive, but the cheapest ones are more prone to failure. I keep a close eye on mine now - especially if I've made a change. I wonder if your lights were on 24/7 ever since you changed the light schedule a couple of days ago? Did you ever see them go off?

i had seen them go off and come on at the specified times, as i spend time in the living room (lounge) and the cupboard door is in there. i am fairly confident that the failure occured today. the plants would have dried out much, much quicker under 24 hours of light with the door closed.

I believe u will be ok... I've had a similar hiccup early in flower and my girls fought through it like the thorobreeds they are

I have been wondering about minor light inconsistencies. Equa Blue, I'm with PeeJay on his whole answer as far as your little bump goes. No need to panic--I'll do it for you when the time comes. LOL! I figure anyone else who swoops through your room will say the same, but I am still curious. You'll be super surprised to know that I have done some really asinine things with my lighting. You, uh are surprsed, right? You are laughing in surprise, I can hear you. May I ask how many hours they were on? They were to go off at 8a, but you came down at what time?

so, i've topped them off and tested the new timer - seems to work.

i'm wondering now whether to increase the nutes again.

Currently i'm giving 5ML each of Canna A & B per 4 Litres.

Considering raising this to 6ML

they were on until 4pm :/

I want to see your :/ turn into a ;) Here's my thought, and I just toked a big store bought bowl, so hold onto your hat....

Your girls have only had one Dark, right? This is my simple-minded thing about Sacred Dark. You can have cloudy days, even an eclipse on a cloudy day--but the Sun never shines in the Dark. Your beautiful vegging gals had a momentary interruption of Light that they've been used to, rather than screwing up the Sacred Dark that they've become accustomed to.

There, did that make you smile?

One last happy thought, just in case you do develop banana balls. Er, that didn't come out right...anyway, sorry, dozed off--It seems to me you may only get half a banana and one ball. Statistically speaking. More likely you just confused the flower by a day, and your girls will vegg another however many hours. Do you do the 20/4 hour thing? I'm too lazy to look it up. Betty is too impatient, so we go straight from 24/7 to 12/12.

That's my small fraction of a Euro money thingy bit of advise on today's market. In other words, that and a cup of coffee would get me a dime.

Awww, heck, I just gotta say it. You are a good Dad, Euro Blue. I mean, Equa Man. Damn, my ear fell out again. What I'm saying is yup, you and I are newbies, and I talk way too much, but you said it all, dude, when you said you would stick with the tried and true. What did you say, really? Hold up, lemme look.

found it. That's it, that's really all it is. Brings a tear to my eye. Oh, sorry, I managed to stick my ear in the hole where I usually put my glasses. Dag GONE it!

What I want to know what have you been watching that has banana balls

the link appeared to work for me.

I think my plants have started to sex; I'll pop some pics up later and hopefully get confirmation.

Am I counting right? 4 days and you are getting sexy already? Did I ever ask you straight out if you did the 20/4 lighting? 'Pologies if you did tell me.

Hope you get some nice shots. I LOVE boring slideshows. I'll bring some pop corn with canna butter, enough for everybody to share.

Day 59

So, at this point i've added fresh coir on top and raised the lighting array for the second time in 8 days.

I suspect that the girls are showing signs of sex; however i could be totally wrong as i am a newbie after all.
So, here goes:

Christine Kochanski

Still the strongest plant of all, i don't think that's likely to change at this stage however the gap between her and the others is widening, which is annoying; anyone would think she'd gotten a week's head start from seeding but you all saw them at the start. I'm hoping those two long stems will grow to resemble some of the 'donkey dicks' i've seen on these forums in terms of thick buddage.
She has a leaf with slightly crispy edges in the mid section, still researching this.

Caprica Six

The runt of the litter.
Slow to start off with; she has now almost caught up with the others in terms of height, width and how quickly she drains a pot.

Aeryn Sun

This one has remained consistent throughout; standard size based on the averages for this crop. Good height, nicely bushy, healthy leaf mass and seems to be utilising all nutrients with no obvious signs of burn or deficiency. The force is strong in this one.

Kaylee Frye

Analogous of Caprica Six in height whilst twinning Aeryn Sun on the horizontal plane. Like a sordid love child between the two. One or two yellowed leaves close to the base, possible nute burn but i'm still researching that. The rest of the plant looks beautiful; seems to be on target.

My attempts to have two mains that split into 4 stems each seem to have worked reasonably well; I've got 8 stems per plant which are balanced for the most part and should remain so if i keep on top of rotating them.

Overall i'm very happy with the progress of my first ever grow.

Thoughts?
