well for one, i got pretty nice lil scissors that i cleaned up real well with peroxide, that should cover the razor blades

i gotta tray that has ribs in the bottom of it but i dont have an INSERTABLE tray...

and i do have my light close, but my room/area for veg right there stays at about 84 degrees F, which should help with humidity

i think ill look into a heat mat, and im going to buy some more water tonight when i get out of work to put more in the bottom, thats a Great idea.. keep that rh up for Sure

is that light too close ya think anybody?... i want the heat from it honestly.. and speaking of honesty, im not TOO worried about this batch b/c they are all pretty small clones.. :/ ... and that plants gonna have a lot more oppurtunities to be cloned like within the next week easy.. so ill be happy if 1 or 2 root =D

theres actually 5 clones, the one on the left has another one BEHIND it.. making that one look all bushy n shit lol... its not, its just the one behind it.. whatta you think of the cuttings?... LOL the one up front was probably a waste of rockwool................
 
lol, well, they can still do well other ways too. 1000 ways to skin a cat ya know?

i would still invest in the tall (7" or so) dome/mat if you can. the cutting is only the first step of about a 2 week process.
 
def get an insert tray, they are like a buck or two, and then you can leave an inch of water at the bottom to provide RH. otherwise the mat might heat the roots up too much and kill them.

now dont water the cubes again until you can touch them and they seem 80% dry . . .should take days if its high humidity in there. I spray often. (2-4 times a day to start) if you have good RH, you don't even need to spray, but if you spray, you should use a very mild grow nute in there with it to give them something to make roots with) 1/4 strength or less. unless you get clonex, then use that.

the light looks ok, but remember too much light isn't good for them because they have leaves and will soak up that light. . . but they dont have any way to get any food or water because they have no roots. . . while they grow roots, go easy on the light. start out with less light and move them closer after a few days at least.

that being the norm. . . unless you see some stress on them i don't think you have too much light on them, the leaves are still pretty small on them.

if that dome is not fully covering the tray, space left over on either side you wont get the humidity to stay in the dome/tray, i hope its just knocked off, if not get one that fits the tray
i also noticed that the bottom of that tray was empty, I would at least put a bowl with water in it, inside that dome with your clones, if not just putting water in the bottom of the tray until the "ribs", as you called them are covered, that water will evaporate helping to keep that humidity high. Humidity will be hard to keep at 99% from just the water being held up by the RW cubes and even harder if the dome doesnt' fit the tray.

musik: thanks for lookin out man!! yeah i was initially told to have SOME sort of ventilation to them but not a lot so that humidity stayed up.. i couldnt poke holes in that thing cuz i lost my ONE trusty razor.... hmm .... so i had left it off a lil, but after you said that i def put it right back on all the way figuring that since im openin it to spray it here n there it will get new air just fine... thanks for helping out man and youre so right.. WOF and the Butcher are my g*dammn heroes dude !

WOF and Butch: for one, i went n bought a heat mat, and couldnt find an insertable tray so i macgyver'ed some push-pin thumbtacks under them to stand them up about a 1/4in or so off the bottom so i could put water down without drownin the rw or roots. thanks a ton for the info guys, i prolly wouldntve had any of this done withoutchyall! wish me luck! i really want all to root but 2 or 3 would be nice!

how did you do the push pins? stick the ends into the rw to make legs? lol, nice, although some would say not to put metal into anything seeing water.

you could do a number of things insted of getting an insert, if you look at McBuds journal, you can see where he puts his little ones to veg he put some kind of grate in there to raise them off the ground (i need to do this with my dirt girls.)

if you went to home depot or something like that you could probably find a small plastic grate of some kind, i think they make some for like overhead lighting or something. probably cheap. but try to stay away from metal.

warning being given, the push pins are probably fine and if it keeps them up off of the water layer on the bottom they're doing they're job. but just keep an eye on them and make sure they dont get rusty at all or anything.
 
yup thats exactly what i did... shit i didnt even think about rust! ah! haha

yet another good reason that im journalizing all of this lol... well they should be alright for a day or 2 for me to make some time..

theyre a lil unstable and i moved it for a sec to see if the heating pad was heating up and they all fell over into the water .. !! ... so the rw got resoaked :/

still, everything looks decent, some of them actually perked up a lil bit.. idk how long it takes for them to show theyre NOT going to root or whether or not they will but they look OK to me?.... hm ...

one more thing WOF or anyone else listening.. whats a good light cycle for clones? cuz ive had that light on for 18/6 since i started my plants in the first place and i just switched it to 24/0 when i put the clones in there... the mother plants lovin it ha but i figured it was better for clones to be fulltime... whats up with that?
 
well, the cycles are just a matter of opinion. i don't think there is a definite answer, I do 24/0 because its easy and it works. 18/6 may make no difference whatsoever in speed but may save you 45 cents in electricity. lol.

as far as them not rooting. . . it depends, if there is something wrong, they could all die very quickly. . . but if you have them in good conditions, but they are having trouble rooting for some small problem they could go quite sometime. . . I'v had clones that took well over a month to show roots but the leaves and the plant looked very healthy the whole time!! so it could take a long time if one factor or another is too far off.
 
hey thanks pat sayjak.. i jus wasnt sure if any dark periods at all were good for clones :/ o well.. the mama (hopefully) plant loves it so ill keep it that way..

update!... almost a month old.. i believe day 1 was sept 5th so here we go

^^ theyre actually really droopy right now when i took that pic.. there are times when each one on their own will stand their leaves up like theyre actually a l i v e ~ ~ ~

some undergrowth.. i untied her cuz i want her to stretch out a lil... make more clones =D.. which as you can see its only been a few days and i have many more options already available

and i finally changed the rez today.. goin on like a week n a half probably :/.. while i was changin it i had the plant in an empty bucket in my tent, figured id get a shot of those roots... not pearly white, and the water was pprreeettttyyy lllooowww when i pulled it out.. probably why the roots are kinda yellowish at the top there ay?

but that yellow is from before right? the bottom looks pretty good, and that's the new growth. . . so that must mean that the res is a nicer place to grow recently.

good adjustment. change is inevitable in the learning process.

weedy: yeah i was always told 5 - 6 is good for hydro, but its no big deal its gonna rise.. AN isnt a very stable nute, ph-wise so its always on the rise a lil ima go check it right now n itll probably be 5.5 or so... thanks for checkin it out weedy weed weed

sure thing botwin
1. take plant out of bucket jus by takin the lid off n settin it on another clean bucket
2. dump contents
3. clean and rinse bucket
4. fill w/ water
5. add sensigrow A via capfuls, then add sensigrow B via capfuls
6. jus stir it n mix the bucket with the ph pen while im testing ph

this time ph was at 5.0 when i mixed the nutes so i didnt bother to add any phup cuz i figure its gonna raise ya kno


WOF dont sweat it man, i do that all the time.... except minus the smoke part.. Fuck i cant wait til next year

and yeah man i can do that... right now my air pump is a 4 outlet pump and i have all of them going to one bucket becuz.. well.. why not right??.. im sure it wouldnt hurt to run another one.. heres the thing, that air stone in there is from the funky bunch before.. i know you told me to get new ones but i never did (sorry sensei)... id say "moneys tight" but theyre 6 bucks :/

SO i could either A. test by just using a brand new air stone or B. put new air stone in new bucket and test the ph increases there... watchya think bro??... n dont smack me too hard for not gettin a new air stone haha
 
quick update

clones look the droopiest theyve been since day 1 today... idk if it fluctuates to this extent or not.. im a lil worried and their rockwool is still completely Soaked so i didnt spray em again.. i been sprayin 2ce a day like ... wof or butch.. told me i forget.. and i did somethin i PROLLY shouldnt have but since the rockwools cut on the side to kind of "slide" a clone in, i peered into the gap to see if any of em are starting to root and they all are surprisingly.. idk if this means theyll def make it or not but im glad still... i was quick and gentle hopefully it doesnt F&ck Sh*t up ... also forgot to take the push pins out.... :(

as far as mama goes.. shes gotta lil funky color goin on on lower leaves, would that be from light not getting to them i wonder??.. also just changed res and its Pretty strong at 950... so maybe that has to do with it

and by any chance would this thing be starting to show sex yet??? i went from 18/6 to 24/0.. that wouldnt make any sense.. but these (yellow) look like maybe?.. hmm... btw i know that these ARENT signs of sex if you think thats what im talking about (RED)
