Dutchman's Auto Quads Vs LST With A Critical+2.0 Twist!

Pick everyone's brains! It's why we're all here :).

Thanks, I appreciate it. Basically I've got 3 plants that were supposed to be tangerine autos and turned out to be photos. It made their veg sorta screwy not knowing. I don't know if thats why or not but the branches are on the small side and I'm worried they won't be nearly strong enough to support any decent size flowers. I grow in soil and I flipped 12 days ago. So I guess the two biggest questions would be is it to late to introduce silica and what brand/company would you suggest. There are pictures of the plants in my journal if you wanna check them out. Any advise is welcome. Thanks again.

I have used Pro-tekt from dynagrow and ArmorSi from General Hydroponics. They are basically the same and the ArmorSi was cheaper/ounce last time on Amazon so that's what I went with.

Starting now is fine as plants need more K in flower anyway. I stop about a week before I expect to harvest. I think I learned that from Derby. I go with ½ tsp per gallon but if I have weak stems I bump it to 3/4 tsp over the course of two waterings.

I personally haven’t added any silica to my grows yet. From when the plant is about 3-4” though I start grabbing and rolling the stalks and branches as they grow. Lightly rolling them and weakening them then letting them recover. I do this mostly all through my veg period and come flower ive got some good scaling on the main stalk with some thick branches. I had to add yo-yos on my big girl last grow but she was an absolute monster which I had no problem helping her support those massive colas!

After this grow though I am switching my nutrient line which has an all in 1 formula. Hopefully it will be as easy as it sounds and produce some killer harvest but my next few grows will determine that!

Thanks I think! Round?

Do I stick with adding cal-mag and silica when I start? Those are the two I add to my veg nutes now.

See..already confused.
Sorry, I missed this post, and a few others.
You grow in coco right Shed? The way it's stated is simple like this. Every growing medium is the same and should be treated as such with the feed schedule. Personally I don't think you need it. But I have not grown in coco. This is off their site regarding their use of silica, or rather information

"Soluble Silica from Potassium Silicate (K2SiO3) source, easily dissolves in water and can be absorbed by plants directly. Silica can benefit your plant for its entire life cycle, strengthening cell walls, stems and leaves. This increase resistance to insects, disease, drought/heat and overall produces more robust plants. Silica also improves CO2 uptake and nutrient absorption to increase harvests and yields."

So try it as is. I think you'll be surprised what you see and don't see. With the Calmag, again, I don't use it in soil until flip and never really had any signs telling me to. But I use low dose as a supplement at flip til harvest. They say it's not needed.

I try and find the point of overfeeding and dial down from there. When I see new growth is doing good I know I hit my mark. So I intentionally look for the tip burn at the beginning and adjust from there. I want to see how much my soil works with the MC to judge my feed schedule.

ProMix HP. And I'm wary of cal-mag deficiencies under the new lights.
If it's any help, in my tent I run a 600W during veg/bloom and then hit them with 2x1000 leds as well during flower only. It's off an on and not all the time with the leds to try and keep the temp and rh in check this time of year...but just sayin mine do get hit with leds as well, just not full time.

Good “tip” sauga! Be sure to watch out for that!

I'll check the MC silica numbers against the brand new unopened bottle of ArmorSi and see how they compare. Thanks for the info :thanks:

I’ll be running In promixHP as well so should be interesting to see our compares results!

Well hello again! What a lovely day here at the Dutch house! Plants are growing, buds are forming and trichomes are starting to glisten! What a lovely time of the grow when your plants are transitioning and showing healthy, bright, vibrant new growth and fresh new pistils!

Let’s kick it off with the autos !

All the girls are doing well even my troubled PEa1 is looking a bit happier...( I think ) lol. The budlets on her are pushing out more pistils daily now and also have a light purple within them. I tried to capture it here in this picture but it should be more visible as they get bigger I’m hoping!

PEa2 is really stacking her buds up and starting to look like a nice plant. I’m excited to start getting the smells from the PE ladies!
Crystal Candy autos are getting really frosty already and the smell they have is very nice already! Skunky but sweet with vanilla and watermelon hints.

These critical girls are really stealing the show right now! Beautiful structure and super healthy growth has given these girls a beautiful start to flower! The pistils are making more of a presence now and the little budlets are beginning to form! Such a beautiful view I can’t wait to see a bunch of colas again!!
I got a nice side shot of #2. The qaudline formation is really nice and she just needs a bit of cleaning up underneath with a healthy lower defoliation!!

But that’s about it for today! I hope your all safe and doing well!

Stay medicated my friends !:ganjamon:

Highya Dutchie,

I gotta tell ya, I was skeptical of quadlining an auto in the beginning. Now I'm impressed that you pulled it off. Looks like it has worked for you. The candy strain didn't take it so well as the pineapple express. My curiosity is centered around the projected increase in weight of the PEa2 over the PEa lst. Can you perceive a difference in bud amount? Great wrok.

Oh, and the Criticals looked stellar from way back. I love the form and growth habit of those. Cheers

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas! Nice to see all that frost coming and I have faith that PEa1 will eventually find her groove or at least grow some nice buds and look sad until the end :).

Those Criticals are spot on. Beauties!
Thanks Shed!

Thanks Bode! It’s hard to tell how much one will yield compared to the other. I think Shed May be right though about her making some nice buds but just looking sad forever lol I hope not but If it is the case then it is what it is! PE definitely took better to the qaudline technique than the CC that’s for sure. I will remember that for my next PE seeds!! I can’t wait to see the criticals swell up with buds!

What height are the SP-150s?
I have been lowering them over the last few weeks and have got them to about 18” above the canopy except for on PEa2 it’s about 14” away and she’s happy.

Howdy everyone! I know I know .... I dropped the ball.... no pictures this update!!

What could I possibly be thinking lol.

Well I’ve been busy busy this evening trying to get some things sorted out for the wedding and just haven’t got the time for the pictures this evening. So with this update I’ll keep it simple, straight forward and quick.

CCa1 / CCa2 / PEa2 all got fed today.

The mix was Into 1 gallon of distilled water :
-5mL calmag
-8mL Voodoo juice
-4mL Bloom A + Bloom B
-6mL Big Bud (first time)
-8mL Bud Candy
PH:5.9-6.0

I have removed all Veg Nutes now since the autos are all full flower mode now.

Critical+2.0 girls are going to need a feed and watering tomorrow so I’ll be sure to follow up with the nute mix and some well missed pictures! These girls continue to surprise me. The stretch is increasing and they are looking just gorgeous! Another week and it will be time for a defoliation and then letting them do their stuff!

Again my apologies for the lack of photos but I’ll make it up with lots tomorrow!!

I hope you al have an amazing remainder of the day!
