Update

Hey everyone! First update of 2020 so figured I should make it a good one and go over everything that’s been goin on!

So grab a gummie, sit back and enjoy yourself!

First up is the Mother/Clone tent.
I’ve got all of the clones from Pheno group 3 growing strong now and my newly cloned mothers of CBD/Cookies/Purple Queen as well. They are loving this 250W Series 2 SQ 4K Veg light that’s for sure!

Then moving over to the growbox where the IHG girls are growing great and are in need of a transplant! I’m trying to keep them in these 1Gals until flower is done so I can transplant right into 5gals and let them Veg out a bit longer before I flip them. That may not work out though depending on how long the flowering ladies go for.....we will see haha!
Day-67 from seed

This is the branch that I had broke and didn’t think would survive but did! Little rough on the edges but I didn’t lose my quadline!

Alrighty then it’s time for what you’ve been waiting for! The big girls got a defoliation today. Nothing major but I removed a lot of big fan leaves blocking prime Budsites and blocking lowers from light as well. It was a very sticky and stinky task but someone’s gotta do it!

Purple Punch

Glookies

Gorilla Glue #4

I unfortunately missed the lights on my 2x2 this evening so I’ll get some photos from the Maple Cookies (Purple Pheno) and the 2x CBD Blue Shark tomorrow!

I hope you all have an amazing evening!

Sensory overload mate ! Following along :)

Update

Hello hello! Hope everyone is well and ready for the week ahead. Got a quick one today but a few good points to touch on!

So my plan was to keep the IHG girls in their 1Gal pots until I harvest the 4x4 but that just won’t happen. I’ve noticed over the past few days a not so happy couple of girls which lead me to begin investigating. Nutrient levels are good and my watering wet/dry cycle was fine.
No signs of pests bugs or deficiencies except I have noticed a few of the plants with a slight wilt.

This led me to the roots... Here lies the problemo! These girls being over 60days old now have been needing a transplant which I was trying to push out longer than they would have liked.

So tomorrow I’ll be up potting them to 1.5Gal containers to continue growing until I harvest the 4x4. This left me with some rearranging to do moving the IHG girls into the 3x3 and the clones/small mothers into the growbox!
Here they all are currently in their new temporary homes!

The 2 bigger plants in the growbox are Twisted Helix which will be transplanted alongside the other IHG girls tomorrow and moved into the 3x3 then.

A transplant party and frosty 4x4 photo update tomorrow so get some rest!

One Love and Stay Medicated!

those 2 in the back corners have such a nice shape. short with huge stalks. And i love how the leaves on reveg always look waxy and super green. nice pics!

Looking good as per usual Dutchie. Actually it's looking better than usual! It's looking busy as well. Do you work? Lol. You've probably explained this multiple times in painfully excruciating detail but how many mothers are you hoping to end up with by the end of all of this?

Dutch I am in need of another light and I was wondering how the budget LED compares to the Mars Hydro lights I am looking at their SP250 or the TSW2000 and was wondering how Budget LED compare Pros and Cons of their lights compared to the Mars lights. I also have a carbon filter in the tent which uses up a lot of head room so I am wanting something thin to give me that extra 2 or 3 inches. Can the Budget lights driver be put outside of the tent in place of having it mounted to the top of the light

Oh PC... you have hit the jackpot if you run with @BudgetLED.

I have 2 of their 250w R-spec setups and they are amazing.

I use them full through a grow. 1 of those will veg a 4x4, and flower a 4x2 (or 3x3). I have 2 in a 4x4 tent and just turned them down for veg, and ramped up for flower.

Now don't get me wrong, Mars are nice lights and if that is all someone can afford then that's OK. Lots of members around here are killing it with their new white LED stuff.

However there are some caveats with that.

First, they use Epistar diodes. (Cheaper, not as efficient.) Second, it's a pain in the ass to move the driver off the light. It can be done, but you have to order special stuff. Old Salt did it, and I think Jack did too. They also use lower grade parts, and the dimmer is under the driver, making it more difficult to change the fixture intensity.

Now with the BudgetLED lights they use the top bin stuff from Samsung and Osram. The same diodes and bins that HLG uses in their Quantum board lights. They also use meanwell drivers, and are also happy to customize your lights for you a bit.

For example, I ordered the R-spec, but since I wanted to use them in veg too, they used 1 3000k board and one 3500k board on each light. (Each light I have has 2 boards.) They also would have put on a longer cord so I could do exactly what you want to do, and move the driver outside of the tent.

When I bought my lights, I was looking hard at the Mars lights. The above differences are what pushed me to the BudgetLED lights. The "premium" for doing so really wasn't as much as you would think. The Series2 lights were $299/ea, and they offer a 20% discount for forum members here. So that made each light $270, and VERY reasonable. I also tried piecing together my own similar light, and couldn't do it for that once I paid for shipping to 3 or 4 different places.

So if you can make the slightly higher investment in the BudgetLED lights, do it. Those guys are great, and have been an excellent sponsor here. :D

If your budget is super tight and you can barely make the Mars light, then that's OK too. Although if it were me, I'd save up another bit to get the BudgetLED lights. They really, really are worth it.

Thank You So much Vortex that helps I know their boards are thin and with the drivers outside the tent and not on top that would give a couple inches of head room and it wouldn't be as hot in my tent. I have 4 Mars COBs right now and I agree the meanwell drivers are mounted with the adjustments on the bottom so I would have to order Mars extension cables, I would also have to unmount the lights. Not sure why they put the adjustments on the bottom. I need to look on Budget LEDs site and check out what they have. Thanks for all the info it is much appreciated

You're welcome!

Me personally, I like the idea of having two lights in my space. It lets me fine tune for multiple strains. Taller in the back, shorter in the front. With a single light, that can get tricky and someone is always going to be a little farther or closer than they would like.

I know @BudgetLED is starting to roll out their Series3 stuff, but their Series2 is still killer. Every bit as good as HLG, but will cost you less.

As for heat, if that is why you want to move the drivers, mine run about 90F-92F on full power. How do I know? Well, I might have accidentally left my hygrometer sitting on the heatsink after I watered yesterday morning. Whoops, but good to know. So they do get warm, but nothing drastic for sure. And that is with nothing but passive cooling, too. My tent temps aren't suffering from it, that's for sure.

To clarify, the dimmer is on top of the driver, not underneath. Its easy enough to adjust on my TSW2000

Is that a recent update? I'd swear that I've seen several mentions of it. Maybe that was another model?

No...not new, always been for the TSW 2000. I know its the Spider Farm lights with the Meanwell drivers that have dimmers that are on the bottom though. Such a shame....tsk tsk.
