I'm sure EM2 will be fine with an extra 12 hours of dark. I'm with PW.

I already have the 2 grow tents In our bedroom and if I bought another the fiancé would be bothered lol! Especially since it would only be for that dark period. She doesn’t want me growing to many plants and I want to respect that! I’m already going to be pushing the limits next year when I start breeding and seed making because I’m going to have more than she may like lol but we will cross that bridge then!

I’m leaning closer to this option as it will give me the easiest end result of not having to move any plants until I take down the big girl and give the tent to EM2 for her to hog in her final weeks of glory !
Well besides using a washroom for your blackout period, which I know she won't want then, I'm flat out of ideas, but totally respect you're trying to keep yourself in check. My hubby keeps trying to expand my area(s) so I have the opposite problem, I keep having to remind him there is only so much I can grow, hahahaha. Nice problem I have.

It will up your amber a bit as it ages but it is said that the extended dark period will boost something in the plant (terpenes? trichomes?) to your benefit. I tried it once and didn't see/smell any difference between before and after and haven't done it since. As they say...YMMV!
Alright, thanks. I understand it has to do with the terpenes. But I get ripped of the Widow I grew now, and it's smooth and tastes great. I'm not sure, without trying it myself like you said, I'd see any diff.

That’s definitely a great problem to have haha! Legal limits is 4 plants here in Canada and she said I can have 8 sooooo I won’t push it ! I already am grwatduk she lets me take over the house and half the bedroom haha!

It’s interesting you say you didn’t notice a difference though shed. That makes me question if it’s worth the hassle to try it lol!
But if I’m just blacking the tent out for 24hrs that’s really no bitty to me I’ll jsit close the passives for the daytime and choppy chop the following morning. But maybe I need to do more research !!
I agree I get a great high from my Widow and it wasn’t grown nearly as well as I growing this EM! The bud quality on this girl hands down blows my Widow out of the water which is great news because that clearly shows improvement !
I will grow WW again some day and give it the justice it deserves! I have a really good feeling about this upcoming harvest with my big girl EM! I can’t wait !!

Hi D, You're just trying to push out the last of the resin production as it signals the plant that the cycle is over. Some strains respond, some don't appear any different. Also depending on how long you've pushed your plant in flower because if it's under the lights too long it will degrade the resin over time. It's a way of communicating with the plant to finish up their production cycle. Hope that helps.

So not all strains will respond well to the 24-48hr dark? I guess growing it once and seeing if the benefits are there or not would tell you to continue it on future cuttings od that strain but hard to know from strain to strain I guess.
I’m sure I will be much easier for me with a smaller plant lol! This girl is just so massive it’s going to be hard to bring her downstairs for harvesting !

It's not that they won't respond well, they may just be fully done with their resin production. And some peeps over do it under the lights, to the opposite where their resin starts to degrade.

Me either actually ! Hahaha! A few months ago ... July to be exact I was a virgin grower. Never had grown weed plant in my life.
Now I have harvested my very first 2 WWa and cured them and these massive girls soon enough. I just can’t begin to explain how pleased and proud I am of myself to be able to approach this head on and produce these results. I owe a million thanks to so many people here for all the help so far along the way and it’s truly been such a great experience so far!

Plants will produce fresh terpenes daily during the dark period. Ever notice how strong the plants smell at lights on as opposed to at lights off?

Yes actually I have noticed that. Oddly enough since my tent is in my bedroom about 30 minutes before lights on in the morning I start getting strong wofts from the tent and then lights come on and the smells mild down through the day!
That’s a very interesting fact. Hmmm makes me think haha
