Did the wire survive or did it get blowed up after you got off it? Ya mighta got killed if ya had a Zoot suit on...those are just as dangerous sometimes .

How did your hair do?

As a kid I shorted string wrapped 120V and blew a house fuse. My fingertips blackened and my hair stood on end. I think my hair was just blown upwards from the puff of black smoke that sooted my face. Scared my mom something fierce when I walked out of my bedroom followed by a puff of black smoke - but it was just standard 120V - ya know?

Damn Buck that is scary! I met a guy while looking at a car with my step father and he was telling us how he got hit with either 440 or 480 while at work. When he went into his bosses office he did not believe it happened. He went to the hospital and they said he was fine, well when he went home he took his pants off and said his legs were ghost white, almost transparent. He went back to the hospital to find out he had just about cooked one of the main arteries going to his heart and had to have it replaced. He got home and got a $1mil bill. HIs boss tried saying it was a work place accident and did not want his insurance footing the bill! The guy was still alive and kicking and still smoked about 4 cigarettes in the 20 minutes we were there.
 
Wow,...just wow! You guys have 480 in the US, we got 347 and 600. 347 is the bad one,..can't let go of it. 600 just burns thru whatever ...really fast , but 347 hangs ya up..bad , bad , bad. Heard of sparkies dying from grabbing a tbar ceiling(nice ground) and getting 347 while hooking up flour. lights. getting 347 off a neutral is the worst ...just say bye , bye!
 
Yup, your right Yeti,..but i'm in Canada and our mid, voltages are 347 and 600. The lower ones are just like US ,..120/240. Any voltage over 750 is considered 'High' voltage. If Buck had of got cought up on ,..say 13.8 KV , that would have literally blown his hand AND arm apart! Just like a grenade!....I don't work with High voltage. :)
