About the notifications Duggan....I noticed that a while back as well. Seemed like I wasn’t getting notifications and then I’d visit a thread and there would be pages to catch up on. What was actually happening was I was just getting notified of the first post following my visit. If I happened to not go read it I wasn’t getting anymore notifications. Now I just pull up the watches threads page and visit from there. If there are threads with unread posts they are in bold and threads with the most recent activity migrate to the top of the list. You may already know all that, but thought I’d throw that out there.
 
Excellent Duggan :high-five: - next time you’ll be ready in advance for the delays and pauses during the process. I end up making mine over 3-4 days.

A few things from the previous discussion, in the order I’m remembering them...

This oil won’t work well as a topical. Olive oil doesn’t soak in through the skin very well. It’d be a bit of a waste to use it that way I think. Do a dedicated batch.

You don’t need lecethin or the fridge process for the topical either. It’s a totally different ball game in terms of absorption and how it interacts with the body.

Doob - that sounds like a lot of herb!! 6-12oz!!?? :hmmmm:

Mine and Sue’s recipe come from Dave Groomers original recipe - 1gram per oz of oil. Which I think can be doubled.

You’re talking about roughly 5-8g per oz of oil (8oz to a cup) - pls correct my math if it’s wrong, I’m freshly high right now!. I guess if it’s working so well then it’s worth it... mine works at 1g per oz and seems ‘expensive’ to me at that rate.

So, Duggs, On the lecithin and the cold cycles: Something molecular happens during those cycles and the lecethin binds the cannabinoids to appropriate molecules in the oil that are absorbed internally by the body - it becomes bio-available. Think of it like the way Doc’s soil has all the particular ratios and timings so the molecular activity is just right... it’s a similar kind of thing - except for our internal garden :)

It is advisable to eat before dosing (or during) and if you’re after more high, eat mango a little before you dose... ;)

I know right!? If people follow their directions they’re making pretty weak ass oil imho and wasting a lot of herb. 8hours is the kicker!

That’s true... I am definitely thinking of doubling my next batch ;)
 
Sorry, been away for a few days, but just my $0.02.... I decarb in a mason jar and, while foil-covered pyrex would probably be better (the foil pouch is fine, too!), I've never had an issue with the mason jars since the decarb is done at such low temps.

What I had read, and this was years ago when I was researching decarbing, is that you want it in an air-tight container and then, let cool for 20 minutes before you open the container. The reason given was that it allows the terpenes to settle back into the meds and not escape. ;)

I felt compelled to clarify that last post...

When de-carbing in the mason jar, always put the jar into a cold oven and heat to temp with the jar inside. If you try putting the cold jar in a hot oven, there's a much greater risk of it shattering! :Namaste:

Good morning gang. Amy,..i pulled the oil out of the fridge this morning...it's in a mason jar. It has a green tint to it...a lot like the butter i make. It's sittin in the kit. sink right now , in warm water, liquifying again. I will put it back in the fridge and do this one more time before filling the caps and lil eye dropper bottles. Mare is coming over to help me with the caps . We'le give the caps a test run before we go to the grocery store. I will take two...i'l give her one. We'le see just how much i can feel two. If i can feel them , that will give me a pretty good idea what others will feel. I will report back later with a more detailed report and some pics too. Cheers Amy and gang.:circle-of-love:

Hmmm, your call but I may do the caps after the grocery store when your settled in at home AND I may start with 1....? You know my story, heavy pot smoker and edibles took me down, I felt like I was tripping and couldn't wait for it to be over. If only I had started slow and eased in.

Yeah...a bit...I made some using coconut oil as well...1 zip to 2 cups oil...haven't tried it yet tho'...just sitting in the back of the fridge...made some topical cream as well...I used olive oil, but 20/20 hindsight, shoulda' used grape seed oil or something similar for better absorption...using beeswax made a great texture at room temps......mine is a lil greasy, but works well when I need it for my lower back...cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:
 
Great info Ween , Hook and Killer. Ya....i can tell ya one thing...these lil caps are gonna be a real pita to fill without gettin this oil everywhere...ffs's.! I'm gonna try and use a cardboard box with lil holes to hols the caps. It's puttin the caps together , after they are full....that's gonna be a bother. All i have to use is the eye droppers from those lil bottles i bought.

You are right there sir! I use and eyedropper and if you have a shaky hand your screwed lol. Can honestly just use a piece of wood with holes drilled in it to hold the pills.

Hmmm...i 'm gonna try that once....see if it will hold them a lil more securely. Thanks for that idea bud!

Just throw on some music Duggs! I used a pen to punch holes in the cardboard I used to use for this until I got one of those plastic trays that holds em like Droob is saying. Plastic wasn't a game changer, but the cardboard was certainly more of a PITA.

The biggest hassle is spillage, getting liquid that runs down the outside of the caps. To help address that, i'd grab a tissue, and after the were all capped up, I'd lightly roll them around a handful at a time in the kleenex to help get off any excess oil.


These little puppies are great though--I keep mine in the fridge. Let us know how you end up!
