DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

The peels I use to feminize regular seeds. The ethylene gas will set the sex of seeds if they're stored with skins in a sealed ziplock bag for two weeks. You wrap the skins in tissue to attract the moisture and air them out every day, changing the skins out if they dry up.

Store it in a warm, dark place and air it out regularly. In two weeks I'll plant and see what happens. All this use for healthy snack food. Like RheinRover says, it's neat to have a snack in the tent. :laughtwo:

I know, I know, lagging on pg 11 ms.Sue, would you care to explain this a bit more please....:thanks:

The surface area got me thinking of something to insert in the mason jar (that I could fabricate) and then I figured...check Amazon. Has anyone had any experience using one of these? @Smeegol, forgive me for being so late to this. :hugs:

Ripening fruit produces ethylene gas, which can be used to treat regular seeds to assure they express as females. Banana skins are excellent sources of this valuable gas.

It takes two weeks to make this work, so plan accordingly.

Wrapping the banana skin in a paper towel or parchment paper will keep down the chance of mold developing.

Making your seeds female

* wrap the banana peel
* place wrapped peel and seeds you're treating in a plastic bag
* date the bag
* place in a cool, dark place where it won't be disturbed
* open daily to air the seeds off, to keep seeds from molding
* change out the banana peel every 3 days
* remove and plant on day 14

It has a high rate of success. Both times I've used it the seeds were obviously males, and both expressed female.

Oops! :oops: I forgot to include to store the bag in a cool, dark place. I've edited the original.

Sorry guys. :battingeyelashes:

The heat dried them quicker than I expected,over 5 days,in the tent. Help us out sue,as ive still that chlorophyl taste. The plants were hanging at about 4 feet if you mean high.

How long have they been curing 800? The cure eliminates the chlorophyll taste over time. In my experience, with a properly executed curing process, that smell is entirely dissipated by the end of the fourth week. Most are faster than that, but I have had some take the month.

A good cure isn't over until three months, and in reality continues on until consumed. The molecules are never quiet. Lol!

About 12 days ago I cut ,hung for several days and jarred them,also placed the buds in paper bags. Any tips on that?

My environment tends to be either too dry or too humid for proper hang drying, but that wasn't why I switched to low and slo drying. When you hang you'll lose up to 50% of the monoterpenes to the air in the first week alone.

Terpenes are the cannabis components that actually direct the type of signal your cannabinoids are going to be creating when they attach to your receptors. I thought it important from all perspectives to hang onto as many of this terpenes as possible when I dry, cure and produce oils.

When I dry, it's into the bags and into the fridge as soon as they've hung to drip dry for 4 hours. With oil I go with either fresh harvest oil or oil made with low and slo buds.

In your case, the process from here on out is to open the jars periodically and let them air out for about 30 min. once a week. Laying them on their side will offer more surface area. This gently allows the moisture to get down to around 62-65% RH. Do you have any hygrometers?

Also, once they hit 62% I drop in a Boveda pack. They keep the buds at the sweet spot for best storage.
