DrZiggy's 1st Journal Featuring High Brix - LEDs & Cool Strains

Im interested too :)

Here is the break down of what would come from making your own salt water for a reef tank or something. This would be full strength :)

Approximately 0.30 lb. of Coralife Marine Salt dissolved in 1 gallon of distilled water at 78°F, will yield a solution with the following properties*:

Specific gravity - 1.022-1.023
pH - 8.2-8.3
Calcium - 430-450 ppm

*NOTE: Test results may vary with different test methods.

Suggested Aquarium Level: Average Level:Parameter Reef FOWLR Coral Reefs
Specific Gravity 1.023 - 1.025 1.020 - 1.025 1.025
Temperature 72 - 78°F 72 - 78°F 82°F
pH 8.1 - 8.4 8.1 - 8.4 8.0 - 8.5
Alkalinity 8 - 12 dKH 8 - 12 dKH 6 - 8 dKH
Calcium 350 - 450 ppm 350 - 450 ppm 380 - 420 ppm

Hey Zig....sea water eh! Interesting experiment. Wonder how much actual salt is in ,say one gallon of it! Keep us posted on this Zig....never heard of anyone else trying this....cool to see you venture out my friend. Cheers.:Namaste:

Some companies sell sea salt amendments derived from sea salt.
Ive view some vids where they grow in a garden and use sea water diluted 1:10 at least.

Zig, remember that sea water is heavy in sodium (NaCl), and plants do not really like it. It's actually used to kill the plants. Have you seen anybody else doing this with good results? Just be careful.

Im doing it with week to go to harvest. Im soaking 2 Budha Tahoe OG to try a plant one with 1:10 dilution and Kit when watering and near end, the other just kit. 11/13, from seed.

I can totally see how this went down in Zigg's head.

Highly mineralized soil is > Normal soil
HighBrix soil is > Highly mineralized soil
Watering HighBrix soil with highly mineralized water has to be > HighBrix soil with boring old water...

Logic looks sound to me, can't wait to see what happens :)

I'm pulling for you Zig, but even dilute salt water sounds like a bad finish to me. Best of luck with it. I hope you prove me wrong.

Ziggy knows a thing or two.....I've used seawater in the past as well.

It won't kill the plants if diluted. It is loaded with potassium.

Glad to hear it works!

Really nothing to lose.. Doesnt OG mean Ocean Grown? Lol
Every grow is a new experiment.. Not just mine... Everyones. :thumb:

Its discovering and refining techniques to not only duplicate your grow but improve them when desired.

If people before me didnt experiment (Doc, Curso, GT, Conradino, Von, Tav Paki, etc..) we would not be smoking Snob Weed :)
These plants that world wide grow near coasts are exposed to sea salt air from tropical storms, wind etc..
Crops that used to be flooded by tides etc, soils were mineralized..
Fish heads, carcasses were buried at base of trees for N and minerals..
Seaweed was used and still is used as mulch year round. Most people are needing Iodine, Mg, Ca..

Sounds like a great experiment. Do you plan on going to the beach and filling bottles or are you using a product? Im a little far from the coast but would be interested in trying a product on a few tomato plants to see what happens.
