I don't think I quite understand this. So stressing the plant from the time it starts developing roots will most likely cause a male (not surprising). Not stressing will most likely cause a female. How do the cytokinins play a role?

OK, I re read a few more times before I realized, de rooted cuttings were given the cytokinins, and those were female. Reading comprehension lol, sorry ziggy.

"Cannabis roots and sex determination
It appears that cannabis roots grow differently according to their gender, and that a complex set of genetic interactions determines them both. A study into hemp varieties in Russia demonstrated that if young cannabis plants were cut off above the root, processed as cuttings and then kept in an aerated nutrient solution, with all new roots cut off as soon as they appeared, 80-90% of the cuttings would develop into male plants. If the roots were allowed to regenerate, 80-90% of the cuttings would develop as females.
The researchers also treated the de-rooted cuttings with 6-benzylaminopurine, a synthetic cytokinin (plant hormones that facilitate cytokinesis, or cell division) that is known to be involved in cell division and differentiation, as well as overall growth and development. Treated cuttings developed in 80% female plants. This strongly suggests that cytokinin production in the roots plays a strong role in sex determination in cannabis."

Mornin Ziggs.....off to the market for some fresh veggies and stuff! Have a great day pal!:high-five:

Morning, Duggan..:)

Have You ever grown sprouts? Fresh veggies, amazingly healthy and delicious in 5-7days with little more than a few ball jars, various sprouting seeds like brocolli, mung bean, alfalfa, lentil, peas, etc, and just a few mins a day to rinse them?

I should definitely start doing this. Great for a quick stir fry. I'm eating so badly this time that I'm losing weight, something that's never happened before. The food in my fridge is all going bad because I'm never home while he's in nursing care. Sprouts would give me powerhouse nutrients with minimal effort and I could purée leftovers for sprouted seed teas for the garden.

Nice to meet you Duggs. I've been sitting off to the side of your conversations listening to the lilt of your voice for a while now so it's nice to finally shake hands. I get things off my chest regularly on my journal. They're a tolerant bunch of travelers and have helped me maneuver through the most challenging times in 34 years of marriage.

I like the way you ramble Duggs. Have a great day. See you around.

Update: Happy Sunday! -I hadnt been in the GR for 2 days.
Remaining plants (5), including the bigger WN to be harvested end of this week, next weekend received water today.
Of the 3 Bubblegum and 4 WWs that were soaked and planted last week, 3 Bubblegum sprouted, 3/4 WW sprouted so far.
Nothing yet, of the other soaked seeds(testing) that were placed in soil fri a.m..:)
Harvested buds are drying slowly, now in jars, being burped 2-3x day starting today. Ordering some large bovedas today.
ACE plants in J2 doing well. Pics posted there in a short while. :)

I caved! :) Just had a drying, small nug of the WN listening to Always on My Mind..
To you, Doc! :thumb:
Shes frosty, sticky, and smells fruity- apricot , mango, v.slight citrus
Burned with a small bong..thick smoke. 2 hits
Taste: Super smooth, this was cut 3/18..sweet smoke, slight lemon in back of throat
High is gradual then cerebral..but want to do something physical. Clear, Strong and manageable :)
Its great! Music too! :)
Thank you again Doc for all of this!

Zig, dry it out completely and then process it into hash. The best way to taste a fresh crop in my opinion, cause bud will need at least 6 weeks to get into the zone... or go fingerhash :bong:
