@Mlburk1 ,

Looking good. The OP of the Quadlining thread suggests keeping a bit of upward angle on the branches when you pin them down. Don't know if you've seen the passage so I'll post it here:

"There are certain hormones (auxins) that aid in regulating plant growth. If a branch is growing completely horizontally then it sends different hormones to that branch then if it was growing completely vertical. When you start pinning down branches you always want to keep them tied down to the point where there is a 10-20% grade to them and not completely flat. If you don't do this then the 4 main branches will slow way down with growth and the middle will explode and you want to keep everything nice and even. It is hard to recover from this once the 4 main branches really slow down."

Juuuuust about to get thirsty. Krissy, my lights go out at 530. Plants won't be in drought today. Figured I'd wait until morning to water. In your experience, have you found they were too thirsty in the morning? Or did it work out better to wait? Last grow I got them thirsty, but not until the drought we are currently looking for. My lower fan leaves are whatever, the picture are to show the fade and vampire sucking action. Watch them tomorrow!

Honestly, love the drought effects on the fade of the plant as well. The fan leaves literally shrivel back in a day and the buds get that much better, visually

Also noticed a lack of transpiration from the plants. Obviously because they're getting thirsty. So I've made sure to keep the temps lower and get that VPD in check.

Here's my end of the line, super secret recipe for my girls.

Molasses, sweet sweet carbs. Here's your last feed, microbes.

Aloe, like a "slap and tickle" for the plants. So many amazing benefits, including helping plants through drought.....Also revs up their SAR response.

Or so I hope, who knows right.

Sounds good; If I were a plant! I'd eat it up! Thanks Oli!

ONYX DROUGHT ENDED END OF DAY 7: PLANT PICS

Onyx was pretty crisp, her leaves were breaking off, yellowing was apparent. I pulled her because of how crisp her buds were becoming along with her trichie shots. She got a gallon and half of water and remained in the tent until just now. She will wait in the dark for me to trim her on Friday or Saturday. I'm taking a break after Gigi.

As you will be able to see Onyx is caked beyond caked. She is going to be a tough trim with her sticky self!

I'll be back with trichie shots of Onyx as well as some pics of harvested Gigi. I want to let everyone know how the drought did not compromise yield by any means in Gigi and I have yet to see it do anything but increase my yield in all that have droughted before and including her

ONYX AFTER 7 DAYS DROUGHT: TRICHIES

Again, we can clearly see how the flowers took on the trichomes as they moved from the leaves in some pics.

She was my amount of amber so she got pulled and I couldn't be more pleased with the results and I didn't even smoke her yet.

Thanks for viewing her post drought plant and trichie shots and coming along for the droughting ride with Gigi, Onyx, and myself.

As stated in my prior post, I'll be back later with some Gigi buds

heya folks,, gosh life is busy eh??

well i have been keeping droughting in mind,, as i mentioned earlier, much earlier, i have three sets of identical twins to do some drought testing with,, and i also have a single cherry bomb that i will attempt to drought in my 'hempy' pots

i have decided to do a last watering, then small intermittent waterings after that to try to simulate a soil drought

so today is day six of the drought,, and to my eye the plant is looking a bit stressed and wilty, and a bit yellower as well

tho the pics dont really show much cuz the cmh light i use is tricky to photograph under,, so the pics have slightly different colours even,, boo me

the first pic is a close up or the trikes,, with pin head attached. i have no macro lens and did the best i could in a lazy ass way,, not even using a tripod

P1180191 (2).JPG

this is just to loosely compare after to see if any dif is noticeable to my naked eye, with cameras help

this pic is day four of the drought, nearly completely normal so far,, the last watering lasted three days and i have supplemented with a cup of water so far

P1180193.JPG

this is day six of the drought,, noticeable differences in the plant to my eye but not so much in the pics. for sure the plant is 'yellowing' and wilting a bit. most of the drama will happen nearer to the end of the drought, i predict

P1180194 (2).JPG

maybe a smaller side by side will work,, brb

P1180193.JPG

sad the light is different,, oh well, next time i will get it right

no pics of wilt angles,, i think i can figure that part out

till next update, peace out folks

What kind of tech are you using to get those great trichome pics?
Scope info for you! Someone just asked me about this the other day so I had the post handy! I love this scope!

Don't apologize!! Thank you so much for attempting this and taking the time to document and post about it!! It is apparent in the last two pics the slight change in color and wilt! I hope your comparative pin head shots will allow you to see what we see with our scopes just a little!

No worries on the LWA pic either, I had so much difficulty trying to get a baseline with the leaning and my apparent inability to follow instructions lol maybe I'll whip out the good old protractor for next time. That's the lazy in me, I guess, I adopted the idea that I just know when it's ready so I haven't been too good about using angle measurements either. In time, you do just know-especially if you are a person that 'knows' or 'listens' to their plants...

Happy droughting Nivek. Looking forward to your comparative droughts!

Hey Miss Krissi the queen of the drought I love your plants and all your work. Check it out Clementine on the left I checked in on her last night I don't know if you looked at my journal but her tops were real crispy like she was real dried out and was drying like she was being hung up. I cut all the crispy tops off of her but I'm going to let her finish out with Judith what's left on her. My question to you is has any of your tops of your plants ever felt really crispy to the touch when drought was over and if so did you leave them on your plant or would they be okay or do you just go ahead and dey them. I was just curious but I cut off all the tops you can see in my journal if you want to check it out I got to go back to work have a good day.

Hiiiii Maritimer! Thank you so much, what amazing photos!!! I just let mine get all crispy and fall off on their own! I saw, specifically on Gigi, how the leaves lost mostly all of the goodness and the flower took it all in. We aren't smoking leaves friends and we aren't entering our mid droughters in any Plant of the Month contest, so keep your leaves...

BTW @Maritimer, I know I am not you by any means and and just want you to know that I am trying my best to express your research to our forum friends and beyond. Thank you again for giving myself and all of us, this opportunity to grow with you as we reap the benefits of droughting with eachother

Aloha my friend, I need to get to your journal today! 2 days away from following and I know with all your communication I am 10 pages back lol but to touch on it, yes of course. Onyx just now had this issue. Her leaves didn't suffer as much as some of my other plants as far as their turgidness was concerned but they did in dryness as well as my buds.

This study was not done on a variety of plants, mind you. I am under the assumption now, after running multiple strains through this, that they all respond differently and it is up to us to look for those types of indicators. We may not get the immediate LWA wilt as Onyx never wilted at all...

I think moving forward, we all need to take other signs into consideration during our droughts. I hate to say you will know cause that's not the case for everyone and it's also not a good way to teach the process, just saying you will know....but eventually, you will know...

I don't chop the tops off my buds, but I do tightly trim my buds. If I see some extra dry ends, of course I will try to trim a little of that off but when we cure and stick the Boveda packets in the jars, the buds will regain much of that moisture so I wouldn't go ham. Think about how many people over dry their buds before curing and the packets and curing help bring it back...same thought process I have when it comes to drying out during a drought. Promise I'll get to you soon on your journal!
Thanks Shed, now I feel silly cause I should have seen it...oops...next time you won't get me!!

That is a fine quad squad. I never managed to get many large cola's until I adopted the practice. I had spoken in the past with @StoneOtter about the correlation between quad-lining and large cola's and I believe he thinks it helps.
Funny I work so hard getting the big fat bracts, only to downsize them for drying/curing. :hookah:
