Dr. Strange Bud - How I Quit Worrying And Learned to Love The Medi Bomb

Top of the BUD To you my friend Fish...... Harley ..Great Topic and lots of great ideas .....good input from Canna, Omm. Pot C. and others I may have missed. I can agree with everything said, (wait until flowers start and get them into flower room). I have always done that and it makes sense that you'll get a bigger yield ! This will be a good experiment and/or comparison! BUT a little of both 1) I'm a little impatient 2) I've reread Jorge Cervantes book. This time I decided to follow his book ...I start counting when I put my seedlings into their permanent home, 5 gallon air pots, at the end of the 7th week I have put them into flower room (Jorge says when they get 18" tall) They are about that tall but very bushy from topping, FIMing . They have been there for about 10 days and are stretching very nicely. I don't believe everything I read and only half of what I see, I read and take bits and pieces of advise from many sources. SO WE WILL SEE ! There is no right or wrong....its like Pizza its all good !!
In the past I have stressed my babies in one way or another(over water, under water, too much nutes , not enough nutes so - on ) This time I was very vigilant and no stress at all so I decided to go for the 7 weeks in veg then into bloom.
Defoliating : I snip leaves everyday , some days more some days less, if I'm undecided I let them go because they will be there tomorrow. I trim from the bottom up the fan leaves on the bottom are uselessly sucking up nutes . When I see a few that are blocking out the light , trim them, if not , they will be there tomorrow.
I use 1/2 ounce fishing weights with soft cotton string to create my SCROG , bending and snap a few! It looks like a few of us are just about to , or are in flower already so this will be a great comparison. good luck and patients grasshopper
At this point I think I'll wait until the girls have alternating nodes that way I know they are mature and ready for flower
Has anyone made tincture with a magical butter machine ??
:peace::thanks::party:
smoke2js wrote a good review on using the butter machine making all kinds of stuff with it.look in the product reviews section. I don't have one but from what he wrote it sounded easy as cake

Yep, organic coconut base.....1/2 ounce leaf and trim, 12 oz. oil, 8 hours. It's ok, I wanted it really manageable this first batch, it's for an alzheimers patient. I took a teaspoon, and that will be a half days dose....one at breakfast, one at lunch....and smoke plenty weed...all the time. That's the thing about the cannabis, the more you can get to metabolize in your body, the better off you are..............

Morning Clay, Big Fish and minnow-ions!

I'm a fan of a little defol here and there, but I try to remember that fan leaves are serving a purpose. Instead of sucking up nutes, they actually take those nutes and convert them into sugar and store it for the rest of the plant, buds included, to use when needed. The big fans on the bottom of a plant don't typically block light to any buds so it doesn't hurt to leaves them intact and let them do their thing. Once they start turning yellow, take them off and recycle them back into the dirt, if you grow that route.

rained here yesterday and its starting to warm back up. we were in the 40s yesterday and had frost.
had my three year old chilli plant outside but she made it. I would feel worse losing that then any of my MJ grow:):phew:

Hi Fish Cake! WOW I ate a thai bird pepper by mistake once long ago. Eyes water up and I breathe fire still just thinking about it- lol. Hey would you mind answering a couple questions from this noob.

I have 8 week old girls that I am planning to go 12-12 with tonite. That in itself is a miracle as they had major malnourishment their first 2 weeks; then ph problems for the next 3 weeks, due to a tap water ph of 8-8.5. I finally put "ph down" in the water to bring it down to a 7. Within a week they were healthy enough to transplant into ffof soil. Now 2 weeks later here is the first question- the ffof soil has enough nitrogen for 4 weeks. If I flower them now should I hold off on using the flowering fert for 2 more weeks? I plan on usin a bloom fert that is 5-10-5? Or should I wait to flip for 2 weeks- (they will be monsters by then)?
The other issue affects only 3 of them- all the same strain. They are showing signs of ph stress again with a few clawed tips and a couple upturned tips. I ph'ed the runoff at last watering and it was 5-5.5! The ph of ffof soil is 6.5 to 6.8 but from what I've read the runoff can be pretty low. Would it be beneficial to stop ph'ing the water for those 3 so it is more alkaline to start with? The other girls are happy with the ph'ed water so I'll leave them with it. OMG This growing and this website are turning into an addiction for me! Anyway thanks for taking a look and have a Happy Holiday!

I would use a 50 50 flowering and veg nute for the next 2 weeks and then there after run just your flowering nutes with every other water.
I really dont do much with Ph myself but I also top dress my soil with peat moss. this helps buffer the Ph as far as I have read and haven't had any problems that were obvious.
hope that helps

FC, are you letting your tap water out gas the chlorine before using it? Usually high ph tap water will be just fine if you let it sit open to the air for a while, sometimes as little as a couple of hours to maybe 24 hours.

Thanks fish cake, 50 -50 on the ferts it is. And KushMeister, I do let the water sit out for a day or 2. It comes out of the tap a 7.5 but rises to 8- 8.5 by the time its dechlorinated for a day or two. I can't afford anything but tap water so I'm kind of stuck with it- its acidic mountain water that the city adds a lot of alkaline stuff to.
