Dr. Strange Bud - How I Quit Worrying And Learned to Love The Medi Bomb

Well, unfortunately that's a pipe dream for me, so does that mean the bud I do grow will be crap?
not crap just not much of it brother.
but if you do add the cfls with your other lights it can only get better. I have seen some very impressive grows with Florescent lighting. but there comes to a point that watt for watt compared to HID lighting the heat and the lumens cant keep up IMO

I wonder if it might be more benificial to get either 2 or 3 more of my 24" T-5HO Fixtures??? You know to hang length wise on each side and maybe the back?

:Namaste:

Calculate the wattage, and if it nears 200 you might be better off heat and lumen wise with a 250w hid.
If you are below, just keep adding the cfls or t5s.

Comparison: seen a guy with 2000W worth of T5s, he got 20-30k lumens or so. My 400W HID puts out 56k.

And you can have nice harvest from it, just not much, and buds will be airy a bit.

Well I already know that each T-5 puts out 24 watts, so that's 96 watts per fixture. What I need to watch out for, because this is stealthy too, is my landlord pays for the electricity. That's another reason besides where I'm going to put the heat, that I didn't go HID. He see's that spike in monthly electricity and he will come asking questions. He finds out and I'm out the door, and with my luck when its 55 below zero out!!!

my HPS adds about $8 a month to my bill. and if I stick with GLR during veg its about $6.
I know that your electric is probably more expensive in the great white north tho:)

You can limit the space too a bit more, if bud density troubles you.

Just wanted to make sure you know that the heat and energy consumption is less with HIDs then with CFLs or T5s for the same amount of lumens. You space would be perfect for a 250Wer. Pay less, heat less :)

What do you mean by limit the space? I was just going to have 2 plants in there so that they got most of the light and were not crowded.

I just mean if you want less but more dense buds, you can use smaller space, and add some reflecting surfaces like mylar closer to the plants then the walls are.
I don't think you will get better yield this way, just better looking and perhaps stronger result.

Bite the bullet jeff and slap a 4oo watt hps in there and the ventilation to run it......if you do that you're DONE....that fuc-er will give you as nice a finished product as anything available..............IMHO that's the max light I would put in that tent.....they don't cost a lot to run.......I am runnin close to 2100 watts with all my lights, + a million fans ( it seems like ) a window ac, my pwer's included too, and my landlord doesn't complain. You don't need shit for light for your aerocloner........a single bulb 24" shoplight is enough. I have 8 24" walmart grow lights screwed to a board that I can veg, clone, or keep mother plants alive under.

Your landlord pays for the electricity? No issues? Nice guy!

Good weed fish and friends. Hope everyone is enjoying the hot hump day.
CFLs and T5s will produce great plants, you just have to add more bulbs
when flowering. Using mixed spectrums of 24k and 65k helps the buds become more dense.
There are all kinds of DIY cfls lights on the web to make. Just search it
and you can build a cfl light that will produce killer bud. I like this setup...

WildBill, can you get the same result using multiple T-5 HO's?

:Namaste:

Jeff

You want to have equal amounts of "hot" and "cool" light, which means simply put, half the bulbs in the 6500 range, and half in the 2700-3000 range. This will give you a fuller sectrum.....YES jeff, you can grow killer weed under cfl's!

Are you guy's talking mixed spectrum throughout both cycles? Like my T-5 2 6400k and 2 3000k and whatever cfl I get the same way through veg and flowering?

good morning fishy.........pretty technical this morning
good morning snowbird:)
why yes it is:geek:

sure Jeff. think about the sun it gives both all year round.
I use CFLs along with my HPS with more blue in them like the 5000 or 6500k through out the grow. so if you use a70/30 blue to red in veg and then vice versa for flower its all good:)
