DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

Thanks bro!

I just checked out your journal....C99, awesome strain. I've 20 beans of C99 and 10 of C99xblueberry. I just don't have the space to grow them right away.....

I need to grow some indicas yesterday.....I'm way too Sativa dominant right now.

Hey Doc, if you were near me I would trade some banana kush or sage with you for some sativa strains :-) I need more sativas. I just confirmed a few girls of DJ Short's FLO, so that should be good when it gets flowered, but like you it's gonna be a while ;-)

Flo is the BEST! We always have lots of it. Ours is grown outdoors and in the greenhouse. It's a fantastic strain...but nothing like C99 or Space Jill (half c99) when it comes to the Sativa experience.

Flo is a hybrid, and a gorgeous one at that. But a true Sativa.....that's the stuff!

Uh... yeah, I can see that.

Willie Nelson is going to miss a light cycle and go into the greenhouse in a nice big 25 gallon pot. She's horribly rootbound in the 7 gallon pot. 43 tops starting to fill in.....this plant was not vegged, and was germinated on 12/12. It's about 5 1/2 feet tall and 4 feet across the canopy......ridiculous. Not an indoor plant.

Holy freakin' Willie Nelson -That lady is a beeeeast. Tennis court sounds about right! Great stuff, Doc. I'm personally glad you're doing the Sativas as it's a bit foreign to me compared to the Indica thing. Indicas and Indica heavy hybrids are just so much easier indoors.

Well, I've always enjoyed a little abuse....

Serioulsy, I'm defeated. Willie Nelson kicked my ass....I give up. I won't even try to grow it inside again. It's a greenhouse strain, and it's going to rock! :headbang:

A friends wife who is a med patient sampled a lower fluffy bud from the Columbian Gold....it still has six weeks to go, but the lower bud needed trimmed, so what the heck?

She shared a pinner joint with 2 other people, and had no idea what they were smoking and all of them were saying, "OMG this stuff is so strong! Look at my eyes!" Laughter, munchies, totally stoned, old-school.

I can't wait!

We're going to keep the CG and The Willie outside from now on....but a cross between C99 and each of them is being planned in order to try to get an indoor version of each.

Indoor version of CG would be awesome.....:bravo:

Lol look at my eyes!

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

Sounding like a serious greenhouse strain for sure. I can't wait to see you grow this one outside. Especially if it is a great pain-killing dreamy sativa. Damn.....

I'm looking forward to next August, where I'll try the Willie again, in the greenhouse.

BTW, I don't really consider the greenhouse to be "outside," as it's climate controlled. 50% humidity during the downpours last week......it's just indoors with better lighting, namely the sun.

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

I'm with you all the way! I wish I had a greenhouse to protect from crap blowing in the wind and rain, etc... The plants just seem to love the natural light so much more. I call greenhouse outdoors just because of the light, but you are totally right, it's much more controlled with the power of the sun :-)

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

pollination question for you Doc;

I have 2 confirmed male Querkles out of 5 plants in the room. The other 3 being Kannabia Aphrodite, Sweet Seeds Cream Carmel, and Pyramids Tutankhamen(AK47).

I pulled one male, and stripped most of the stems off the other one except for about 8 inches. I cut a 1 qt clear plastic deli container and put it around the top to catch pollen. I have no other place to keep the male so he must remain in the grow room.

I want to try and do a little selective branch pollination of each strain, not the whole crop. And also save some of the pollen to use on the next batch of Querkles. I have read a few methods for pollinating, but of course I have to pick your brain on the subject.

How do you like to pollinate? Advice or tips?

As soon as you see balls, get the male out of your grow room! Even if it has to live in the dark, you'll get pollen.

There are several ways to do it. One way I like is to put a bit of pollen in a little paper bag, big enough to fit a lower branch into.

Take the girl you want to pollenate OUT of the grow room, no fans, still air. Gently, carefully slip the bag over the lower branch....holding the bottom of the bag closed as best you can. Rotate the bag around the branch once or twice, then leave it there for an hour or so. It helps to tie off the bottom of the bag.

After an hour, while still on the branch, spray/pour water on the bag till its soggy and take it off. Make sure to wet the soil, the side of the pot, or anything else that may have gotten pollen on it, and carefully put the girl back, but keep the fans off for one day.

Business as usual after that.

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

Things are growing!

In addition to the photos below, in the "nursery" we've got 3 new strains above ground:
SF Berry...a powerful indica with a bit of purple in it
New Zealand Purple Kush
Chocolate Thai x Oregon Blueberry

These are all stable strains that were part of the breeders personal stash. According to him these were all borrowed or ripped off and renamed or crossed with other stuff, resulting in some very well known strains. I've got like 20 more strains in addition to these....so I'll be on a seed making journey for about 2 years.

The Jack Herer's are at about the halfway mark...so the large fan leaves are yellowing and dropping off....EXCEPT on the all organic plants!

The OC+ plants are doing fine, buds are forming, resin, etc. All is well.
But the organic Jack's are now starting to look better than the OC+...leaves are healthier, buds seem a bit larger...more smell. Interesting. Still about 5 or 6 weeks to go, so we'll check back a few times.

The Lemon Paki kush are sure pretty. (but then I'm their daddy....I always think they're pretty.)

And so is the Cheese.

The Barbara Kush (Purple Paki x Purple Haze) is starting to fill in too. What a strange growing, lovely plant. It's over 4 feet tall....grows like a redwood. The bud formation is really bizarre....but oh my, what a smell. It's just lovely.

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

Doc, those Barbara Kush are great looking. They look like they will work excellent for your style of grow, not spread out so you can keep them close.

Enjoy
