DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

doc, it seems u're followers are more worked up about u're reps than u. haha!

Well, I'm certainly thankful for all the well wishers!
On the other hand, I don't care one way or the other about the rep points.....

But I definitely don't want followers! My whole view is that we can all learn from eachother and help flatten the learning curve for eachother.

Anyone can do this.....you can grow stoner-proof hempy style.....or get really exotic with all the soil mixes....hydro.....wow! All kinds of fun to be had.

My whole view is:

1.)dispense with the mythology and nonsense
2.)find something that works....the less complicated the better
3.)share what works and what doesn't so people can learn faster than I did.

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

doc, is that space jill available in seed form? that's an exceptional strain.

Yup. That's what I'm growing.....seeeds from TGA. And I did make some seeds this run. This is an ideal indoor plant, if grown 12/12. Nice and Tidy....full of resin, and so far I must say it's a very happy, very powerful effect.

I tried some again yesterday.....it's gotten better.

Chop today!

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

The era of Space Jill is now over....till next time I grow it.

Now, we're all about Willie Nelson, Jack Herer, Purple Paki, SF Berry, Lemon Paki Kush.

Willie Nelson. One plant....50 or so colas. This is challenging to put it mildly. This strain better be really, really good....because it's a PITA to grow. This one plant gets 2000 watts.....whereas 19 others share 2000 watts....

Ya'll know the Space Jill. Just the main cola on the small plant was 110 gms wet. The larger were 159 and 151 respectively. Very dense, very frosty and sticky.

Random pics.

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

That Willie Nelson is ridiculous! If she fills out those colas that yield will be huge. It does look challenging to say the least ;-) Great work.

She'll fill out. Not fat Indica buds....but wispy Sativa buds....loaded with THC.

If I can keep it alive and healthy I should be rewarded. But the flower time is just ridiculous. This is a greenhouse strain.

Next year, I'm going to plant it in early August and shoot for a January harvest.

aside from doc's other attributes......HE HAS NERVES OF STEEL! i don't know of too many growers that would hang w/a plant that long. i think doc's real name is JOBE!

Hi Doc -

I'm really curious to hear how the Willie Nelson smokes/vapes. Congrats on the Space Jill - I plan on fully exploring the TGA strains over time. I'll be growing Jack the Ripper next grow cycle.

Even though I'm a hydro guy, you've been a great influence on me regarding maintaining a proper grow environment. Oh, and you grow amazing bud, too! Nice work as always, Doc. :thumb:

I've got a hydro surprise coming up in a short while. I have a great respect for hydro done right....it's faster and better yielding....and uses less power because it's faster than soil. If done right, it tastes damn good too.

But you've got to really have your nutes dialed in for a given strain.....takes years to get it optimal.

I couldn't have said it better. Those tips are hard to come by for awesome hydro grows. I mean really awesome tasting buds too, the kind you swear were grown in soil. I can't wait to see your hydro setup. I'll wait, but am curious if it will be DWC, AERO, soiless drain-to-waste, hmm......

Oh yeah, I'm sure you'll have no problem keeping Willie alive and producing sticky buds ;-)

Re: DocBud - New Room - Super Soil - Etc.

Doc,

It,s hard to tell in your greenhouse pics, but what is the covering made of?

I just bought a used vinyl shed for $200 and thinking of taking the roof off and maybe the south facing side and use something to make a greenhouse out of it. It is a Black and Decker, looks just like the Rubbermaid ones if you have seen them. I was thinking of heavy 6mil visquene plastic, but that wont take the snow. maybe something sold at HD like those ripple panels, or something called Solexx corrugated 3 or 5 mil panels from an Oregon company.

Thinking ahead for next spring already.

The covering is Solex....the stuff from Oregon. The owner of the company knows what we use it for....says that's his main business now.

I like this covering for a few reasons:

1.)It insulates a bit...like R4 or something
2.)You can't see in...no idea what's growing in there, so your orchids are safe.
3.)It diffuses the light and filters out about 30%, so the plants won't get burned and there are no hot spots or dead spots.
