Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Also Farmer...if you add water while still on the tarp...now your tarp is wet and a mess...and u cant fold it up like that....please trust me and mix it up dry...on the tarp...then add water while u put it in the totes. Btw...it takes a full 5 gals to properly moisten a full bale...or a full 'kit'.
Thank you and my tarp thanks you

Sorry @FutRfarmer and thanks Duggan! I should probably not give advice about something I don't do, I mix right pin the totes, ooops!

Your well water should be good, Doc can confirm but don't concern yourself with ph! You're supposed to take a rake, cut the handle off halfway so the top of it will just reach your groin and every time you think about ph, step on that rake, giving yourself a nice jolt to the old family jewels. the soil does all the work! One of my favorite things about the kit!
love this :passitleft:

The mineral amendment ratios essentially lock the pH. You'll kill your plants before the soil pH will change. :)

But over time, high alkalinity water will cause the calcium/potassium ratios to drift, and that'll starve the soil biota. The pH will drift up, but the biota will rebel before that.

Anything under 80 Alkalinity will do just fine.

I think I'm going to run barneys LSD also I really liked how they came out for you

Happy to share. In my 1st grow with bottled synth nutes, I had the hardest time with the ph up and ph down, kept going up and down until I got it in the range. When I read the passage about the rake, I was sold!

Welcome to 420Mag. Farmer!
You have made a very wise and informed decision to switch from syn nutes to this method! As i like to say around here.....you will soon become 'assimilated'...yup...just like the 'Borg'. Docs gear is simply the bestest way to grow....we recycle our soil on the average ,3 times and some do it more. The cost is excellent and Docs 'real time' assistance is invaluable. You will find after you get the drift of it..it is actually boring...and we like it like that...as it frees up loads of time to enjoy your grow...and life! The gang around these parts are very knowledgable growers ..who as people are full of integrity and smarts who will offer guidance and help along the way whenever you need it. Please feel free to get around and do some reading of the other brixers journals to get a 'feel' for our group. A most awesome collection of misfit, ner de wells...lol!
Once again Farmer...welcome to 420 Mag...and especially ..this neighborhood..:welcome:...

Oh no!...Wait Farmer. Dont add any water until you start putting it in the totes! You will just make a friggen mess and the soul does NOT mix as well when wet....way better to mix it all up dry....then add the water and mix again as you layer it into the totes.

It really does make a mess! I’m glad I know it for next time.

As long as we're on the subject of soil ...

I just finished upcanning a pot and I had to open a fresh bin of soil. As I was scooping it out, I was aware that I pull new soil out in a trenching motion, digging all the way to the bottom before taking any more off the rest of the top. The soil has enough body that it will hold a wall. And as I get to the bottom, the soil becomes heavier and wetter. Then I work my way sideways, still trenching. When I'm done, I spill the rest of the soil into the trench I made, smooth everything out, and put the lid back on.

And it occurred to me that not everyone would do that. Some people might just pull soil off the top and gradually work their way deeper. The soil at the top will be different than the soil at the bottom. Very rarely, we'll see someone who can't get the soil life going. I wonder ...

It's a small thing, but maybe it makes a difference.

:Namaste:

This is priceless!! Thank you

Seemed like I should take a little from each level so that’s what I did - but mostly from the bottom and middle:thumb:

Exactly! I do it subconsciously. :high-five:

Yes...Gray..your giving away our secrets!:reading420magazine:..........:bravo:
 I will be going the cleaner route! Glad I asked first, my wife wouldn't have been impressed
Oh ya..woulda been a friggen mess ,..with a wet , dirty tarp...not good...not happy wifey! After your done mixing it all up and it's moistened in the totes (in layers...it's easy that way)the tarp just gets folded up and put away,...all nice and clean and dry, ready for next time. Remember farmer to make sure the containers, totes are OFF any concrete floors and kept at room temperature for a proper cook Ok. Up to about 80 F is OK ..any hotter is not good OK. Remixing during the 30 days is not required also ...just leave it alone ..check on it after 2 weeks , or so , just to make sure it's still moist OK. Cheers Farmer...
so boring sometimes I forget what I drench I used last time I checked in on the plant
Come on Killer...just use a big calender ...pinned to the outside of your GR door. write down there what you do to the plants. Quick, easy reference when you care for them. It's not rocket science , but we still need to keep track of things...that is how i do it for simplicity. I can't rely on my memory...it's bad! Some members are more 'anal' than me and keep very strict records of amounts and such. up to you ...but keep track , cheers bud!:passitleft:
