Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks. That’s pretty much what I was thinking. I figure even if it’s not ideal and the plants do suffer, at least they’re alive and I preserve my strains.
With all those goodies ( that I imagine are in the kit soil) it is going to do a lot better than what I’m running now which is basically hydro- inert peat moss/perlite needing to be fed every week. I don’t really go away for long very often. But I do need the option, like most people, and it seems like it already basically takes a two week crash course for some hard to come by trusted friend, just to keep the ship afloat.

Oh yeah and I also won NOTY last year, come to think of it, with some sickly deformed frosty misfit that never grew right. That’s funny.

Heheh, yeah this one was a little no-mercy quickie job - grew to maybe 18 inches tall and yielded 2/3 oz. Go figure. :bongrip:

Did you cook the soil? It sounds like you just mixed it and filled pots. I typically put each bale in 2 35 gallon totes to cook. Theres some head room left in them. You can get away with 1 35 and 1 30 but there isnt as much room to wet the soil and get it mixed before the cook in the 30's. Also as Ween mentioned that is pretty light on the EWC. I use a 30 pound bag for each bale of promix. I would say you are about 40 pounds lighter than you would want to be.I typically get about 45 plus gallons of soil from each kit or each bale.
Ya I just mixed, watered and put in smart pots, and it is that crucial to have he ewc? All I could find was the 2-20# bags at the time. Maybe I’ll grab some more tomorrow and remix. But ok ya I got about 50 gallons per bale so that makes sense then.

OK...good morning to ya OG. good on ya for starting in with the 'kit'.
You however have made two big mistakes in your start by NOT following directions. First off you have to use 20 -40 pounds of EWC's per bale of PM....second after it's all mixed up, it has to patiently cook for 30 days , before it should be used. So right off thew bat, you are starting off wrong sir. Please get all of that soil back on a big tarp or somewhere where you can remix it with more EWC's . and leave it in big totes or garbage cans for the full 30days. I'm kinda surprised the regular kit users haven't jumped all over you by now for these two very big mistakes.
Please rectafy this OG...and have a great Sunday sir!

Hey OG! So are you cooking in the smart pots? May not be the best since they're breathable. You want some air in there but you don't want it drying up. If you can grab some more ewc and remix it, maybe grab some 55 gallon garbage cans with tops to let it cool in, 30 days minimum, temps around 70.

Try to see if you can find some lacewing larvae, they're amazing micro monsters that'll eat anything that hurts our plants, once deployed your grow room will become a slaughter house :)

Thanks man, just ordered 5,000 eggs on cards to hang around!

Yea Duggs.. I was gonna say something but I figured I would leave it to the pros, such as yourself. I'll jump in next time!

I Have multiple plants stages all the time as well, and usually up to a dozen or so different strains going. But when I know I’m going to go away I do pare down; and simplify things as much as possible and sometimes in the summer I can put some plants outside etc.
Hi WK,

It wouldn't be any harder to leave your plants compared to any other soil grow. Put some work castings on top and have a helper put a gallon in.

Or the same with a drip system. Plan ahead and easy peasy. I do it all the time.

Did you cook this soil per directions? I also highly recommend the EWC.

Even so, if you didn't cook your soul you won't have optimal results.

I can't find the directions here anymore, maybe someone can help with a link, but my website is quite clear.

Its actually important to follow the directions.
