Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Same time for lights . Temps range from 68 - 80, although I'm trying to keep the bottom above 70. Humidity hovers between 50 - 60 %.
I did put them on the floor ( have them elevated now) .
I hit them with destress yesterday evening. This morning is when I had to raise 'help' flag . They just look bad - curled and squiggly leaves.
I'll ride it out. Hopefully they turn around soon .

Thanks

If the leaves are twisted so that they dont' face the light....it's the light. Raise it up so they can adapt.

You didn't transplant or anything, right? Just move 'em?

It could have been a night or two of cold roots, coupled with the new lighting conditions. Post a pic?

Yes , only a move and light change . Raised light this morning , will check them out later today . I'm really liking the 'light to close' diagnosis.
I wouldn't say it was really cold - only dipped to 68 for an hour or two .
If they don't improve in a day or two , I'll figure out how to post a pic .

Peace

Use warm water next time...with Transplant and Tea. I have made the transition from T5 to HPS with no trouble, and T5 to LED with no trouble, as well as LED to HPS....and every now and then the leaves twist so that their underside points at the light for a day or two, but this doesn't happen all the time.

I suspect it's the MH and they need a day or two to adjust. Once plant metabolism rises you should be just fine.

Even if you were on a cold slab, one day won't kill the soil. Warm water should wake it right up. Not hot.....maybe 75-80 degrees.

Hi Gang!

Been using warm 75-80*f water for this whole grow, and the soil likes it!

29 days post flip

Here is the OG that got mostly GE in veg, she was fading quick a week ago, but got a full dunk in filtered water, and chased it with a rescue drench, then let it drain for an hour. Little bit of damage to the leaves, but She's making a comeback!

The previous OG has been overshadowed by this OG that got lots of TP in veg. I can't wait to see the difference in root structure between them after I harvest. Her foliage is beautiful, and flowers are starting to frost up. 2nd Cat Drench was two days ago.

Every grow gets a little better, and I learn so much with our journals...thank you all!

Thanks for showing the importance of TP in veg! You can grow to harvest with only GE.....but you can't Cat Drench very well. Alternating drenches is the way to go! They don't have to be rigid...but there should be some alternation both in veg and bloom.

Well done! OG's aren't easy and yours look great. The new formulas are really helping those kind of strains.

I'm going to wrap this issue up as the switch to MH . Girls look much better . The leaves are starting to spread out and reach up . The light was raised from around 18 inches to at least 36 .

I've never used MH in veg before . It's always been T5 to full spectrum HPS. The added light kit came with an additional combo MH , so I decided to give er' a whirl . I'll run one 600W for veg , then fire up dual six HPS for the flip .

Thanks for the quick attention Doc .

Hey Doc I need some quick advise... I have mag toxicity on the rest of my girls I'm thinking and I think a rescue drench might be in order and was wondering your thoughts

That's not mag toxicity. It's just roots that aren't quite happy for some reason. Often too strong/too often use of foliars can do that.

Give a nice flush and chase it immediately (not the next day) with Rescue drench and they'll finish right up. Be careful to run a lot of water through it before adding Rescue Drench.

I wish I could reproduce these issues in my own plants. I'm gonna start over-spraying a single plant to see if I can create these issues.

Ah I see, yes I was doing brix every 7 days with snake oil for a while at least 6 weeks of it. I'll flush and hit em with a rescue drench all tonight when lights come on. Thanks doc, and my other girls are kinda starting to show signs of the same thing. Should I do the same with those girls as well?

For the record....Snake Oil is designed to be used on Frankenstrains ONCE OR TWICE to ward off the mid-bloom fade. I'm not using it on any of the strains I have going right now.

If you sprayed it weekly for 6 weeks, we know the source of your problem! Flush...no more foliars for two weeks. They'll come back.

Foliar sprays feed the soil......too much spraying raises soil energy and salts to toxic levels.

Hi CK,

What run soil are those plants in?

Hi CK,

What run soil are those plants in?

They were in 2nd run soil when they were in 3 gallon pots and when I transd to 7 gals I had to put em in first run. After this I'll consider the soil 3rd run

Aha! Another issue....3 gallons is too large to form a proper root ball, unless you're tranplanting into 25 gallons or so. It would take months to get those roots so they're not disturbed by the transplanting process, and the fit into 7's must have been pretty tight.

So, the main issue is the excess Snake Oil and the secondary issue is the transplanting.

For future reference: 1 gallon veg container to 7 up to 15 gallons final container. A single transplant is optimal.

Ok sweet, right now all my girls are vegging in 1 gals and will stay until ready to flip!

Will do! Ah sometimes growing pains suck lol but I'm determined to get this kit down and grow some stellar plants!

Doc, with your Leaf Wash, should that be applied at lights on like other foliars or is time of spraying not an issue?

Hey Doc, think you missed this.

Also, you suggest 4-6 nodes before flipping, have you tested to see if this negatively impacts yield versus more nodes? It would make phototropism pretty easy for the plant, just wasn't sure if it impacted yield for those of us who are going for high yield.
