Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

That's not mag toxicity....that's good old root damage from transplanting too early. It'll get hooked up soon enough. Looks like it already is.

Transplanting too early is not good. Shoot, transplanting itself isn't really good, but since we must let's only do it once if at all possible.
Well, that makes me feel better. I wouldn't have transplanted when I did, but I didn't have soil ready when I popped them, and the straight promix wasn't cutting it for the little ones anymore. They wanted some of that magic and minerals.

Thank you Doc.

Yes, rescue tonite....but the goal was to have them wet for a couple hours, now, you're going to wet them again a day later....cannabis doesn't like wet feet.

Just put a half gallon down the top this time. Follow with another Transplant drench when they dry. You'd be surprised how much you can screw up roots by drowning them. Warm up your room if you can.

Thanks Doc! I want to make sure I get this right and now it's been 2 days and lights just went out so I will rescue when lights go on.

So I am mixing in 45mil of TP into 1/2 gallon of water per plant, correct?

Hey everyone... so I'm getting pretty tired of hauling bottles of water... was curious if my water is good enough that maybe I could just get one of those filters to remove the chlorides... here's a pic of October's tap water quality... please don't laugh I know our water is terrible. Can not drink this shit... tastes awful...

That water will work just fine.

I think they use chloramine here most of the time.

Same with me, I need to remove the chloramine from my tap water. I have a RO system, but I need to plan ahead with it. It is very slow and the water is below 60*F when collected, so I need to store that water in buckets, off the floor, to get temps above 70*F, before I dunk or water the plants. Some day here I'm gonna build a bigger storage system that fills automatically.

When I need quick warm water I use that inline filter you saw. I use that filter usually outside to water my garden and build thermal compost piles. My unfiltered straight tap water kills the biota in the soil. I discovered this when I learned how to build thermal compost piles, temps never got high enough in the pile for the process to work, until I stopped killing the microbes and other soil food web organisms with the tap water chlorine. After that was fixed by installing the hose inline filter, I had to turn the piles every three days for 2 weeks, or the pile would catch fire. Huge difference.

I buy a new filter each year, and buy the best one that mfg offers, very affordable.

Doc, any suggestions re the "yellowing" on these leaves?

Strain is Blueberry. Transplanted from 1 gal to 7 gal 6 days ago. Plant recovered from the transplant and took off (it was very root bound

A few weeks ago it showed signs of Mg deficiency and you recommended a Transplant drench which helped,
but I didn't feel it was quite there so when I transplanted I added a Tbsp or so of Epson Salt, ⅛ C of Blood Meal and Roots! per instructions. Soaked with Transplant and Tea per instructions.

So far, neither its sister (BB) or any other plants are showing this yellowing. This plant has six main branches/soon to be colas and only two are showing the yellowing. Any suggestions?

Adding epsoms and bloodmeal at time of transplant can be rough.....I usually add them a week or two into bloom, but haven't used either since the new formulas.

I think you'll recover....be patient and keep the drenches light due to the bloodmeal. Don't overspray either. they don't look bad....just a little stunned from the Blood meal, which is very fast acting.

I think you missed my question Doc. Let me know if I understood correctly.

Pretty sure it doesn't matter... but just Incase there could be some strange reaction to stainless steel... will this bucket work ok? It's a nice fit and the lip comes just above the top of the pot... thinking I can make this work with little waste.

In that one gallon pot is a clone I'm currently abusing . gonna veg her the whole time the others are in flower and then have one bigun in there for the next run.

Lots of great ideas for dunk buckets out there! Here's my el cheapo version: I cut down a round, large size plastic bleach (or similar) bottle. It just holds one of the square 1 gal. containers. I fill the container about half full, insert the pot, pour some drench on top and keep adding drench until the plant quits sucking it up. I leave it for 5 minutes or so. Then, I remove the pot, tilting it this way and that and then put it in an empty dunk bucket on an angle until it stops dripping. Very effective, very cheap!

I see you added some square holes up the edges for better soaking action, Nice

I think you missed my question Doc. Let me know if I understood correctly.

I think I got the question. For Resuce Drench, the directions say:

1 oz. Transplant per gallon of water with 6 mils of Tea. Feed a solution with this composition to all the plants. It will re-colonize the roots and get things back on track. Do not do this if you aren't having any problems.

That's for a gallon. Adjust to get as much as you'll need. I don't like to do the mils thing.....no time for the math and each one is different.

Thanks Doc! So 45 mil would make sense since I normally give each plant 1 1/2 gallons of water with each drench but my main question was about your suggestion to only give 1/2 gallon of water. Did you mean to give each plant only 1/2 gallon or did you want me to wet the soil with 1/2 gallon and then drench as usual.

I am considering waiting until the soil dries out and drenching as usual unless you tell me to do it ASAP. It will probably be 10 days before they dry out. They do look good and perky today.

Well, if they look good the great!

What I was trying to tell you before was to chase the flush with the drench. Since we can't do that, if the plants are happy, then give them a nice Rescue Drench next time they need water.

What should one do if I do have a mag toxicity? I used snake oil in every brix spray every 7 days for a solid month and well I know not to do that now but I'm suffering the consequences....
