Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

The root structure of your plants is second to none Doc. Thanks for the visual. Makes things so much easier. You mix your drenches at double strength when you dunk them, correct? What do you do with the leftover water?

About an hour before harvest:

Stunning.....I'm speechless!

What I notice is that in veg and early bloom, pretty much every strain should have green petioles. In late bloom, when the plant is starting to digest fan leaves, they often go purple, but hopefully the leaves stay green.

The difference between good and great is often a couple degrees.....basically we're talking night temps in the high 60's to 70 degrees.

Ok, I gotcha. My night temps stay around 72-73 40%rh, daytime around 78-80 35-40 % rh... this is as close as I have been able to get to your recommendations. I did test my soil temp this morning and it was 70... so I found some thicker styrofoam to set it on... several hours later its now at 75... though I don't have a soil thermometer, I dug a small hole several inches deep and shot my infared thermometer in there... you think this is at all accurate? I figure it'll be pretty close. Dang man... guess my soil temp may have been too low for a while. every rime I grow this Nirvana White Widow she's always got those purple petioles... but it stops at the junction where it forks off, never continues all the way up the leaf and the leaves are aways so dark and pretty shiny... nothing like your fake plants but still pretty nice. Ill be ordering a kit one of these days, just so short on cash and the shipping for that bale of pro-mix is crazy and can't find it anywhere locally. Thanks Doc Bud you're the man!

I often use the leftover to water plants in bloom....or I just toss it.

My dunking method uses 2 to 3 buckets at a time and when they get low I combine the, ending up with one bucket and not much left over at the end.

Oh man....75 is too hot for roots. You really want them around 68 to no more than 70. Keeping it slightly most at all times it critical, as the evaporation naturally cools things.

I only grow 4 plants at a time. I would think I would have some left over. Once I get into perpetual mode, I will use your tip with the bloom girls. Thanks Doc

Well sh!t, my bad... so I guess the infrared is pretty accurate huh. Ok then... ill try and get them cooled back off. I'm still so curious wy the purple petioles. If not temp, and they were purple long before bloom, only been in bloom 2 weeks. idk, its cool. I'm not running your kit so it could be tough to say. I'm still using up that super soil mix, takes forever one plant at a time. Ugh I'm such a noob man, thank you so much.

We give our left overs to the veggies. They love it. :thumb:

That reminds me doc, I'll be shooting you an email for the veggie products.

Oh.....it could be any number of things in a "super" soil. Generally speaking, they're over-the-top full of organic material, which makes the soil life sluggish and promotes pathogens.

This is why when you harvest, many times you'll find that the roots never really colonized the lower part of the container. The soil is way too "hot" and has way too much organic matter, and of course massive amounts of potassium, which makes high brix impossible.

Please, when you harvest take note of the roots. 9/10 times they never really develop right in "Super" soil. Been there, done that. Still kicks ass over salt ferts, tho.

I am just astonished at the difference between the aero I use to grow, and docs kit grown! Just the smell of the veggie girls is sweet! Holding my temps at 81 day/ 70 night RH 48-58% co2 ppm 250-390 lights on. The two in the 7gal cans are lemon OG autos I'm experimenting with...never grew autos before. The 2 small ones are Blue Dream. The other 4 are left to right -Nitro lemon haze, AK47, Headband OG, and lower right is Bubblegum.

I'm taking a piece of Doc's advise, and will grow out each, and not top this round, and observe how they do. I may even whittle down the ones that don't do as well, and only clone the ones the seem to excel in the kit, or should I say my application of the kit. I was just reading Doc's recommendations on proven cultivars with the kit... must find a landrace!

I notice the Headband OG is slightly weaker looking than the others, she's at 3 o'clock in the pic. Not sure if she needs something more...I keep seeing an OG drench and "way ahead" mention in previous posts, and wonder if these are products I should have on hand?

I also notice now that the 4 medium sized girls in 1 gal cans start to wilt every 3-4 days, even before the soil is completely dry, like when they were younger.

I'm thinking a couple more weeks before I upcan them to 7gal cans and start the bloom

Just want to shout out to everyone a big thanks thus far!

As always, love any and all opinions

Top of the day to ya DL. Yes, you are 'on track' by following Doc's advise and , or tips. Just a note,..yes you are correct too, get yourself some OG Drench and some Way Aheadx10 from Doc. These strains you are growing/experimenting with will all benefit from these products , as they have been designed to help out "Frankenstrains" and salt loving OG types like you have there. The Wayx10 is great for adding to Brix for foliar spraying during early/mid and late bloom to ward off any micronutrient deficiencies later in bloom. Keep up the good work and KEEP listening to Doc and the gang OK. Cheers to ya.:high-five::bravo:

Well, crap. I've been spraying it on my veg plants unaware! woops. Guess I should read directions a little better, huh? They still look good, though...

Another quick question for Doc.. I just bought some Root riot plugs for the first time. Do you water these things at all when you put a cutting in?
