Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

We'll I started today and I guess I'll continue through out this grow and see what gives.
Doc will you be at the Las Vegas High Times Cup in march?
I don't like the HIgh Times events. They are not honest and a lot of crap is peddled there.

My experience is:

1. Bogus lab testing and competition
2. Vendors selling unrooted MALE clones for 20 bucks....claiming they're females.
3. Mites. The strongest, fastest, most irritating mites ever.
4. BORING! It's nothing more than a swapmeet where people take dabs.
5. Crappy food

I did recently attend the Marijuana Business Expo in Las Vegas and it was fantastic and excellent. Below is my souvenir from that one.

When I entered the HT Cannabis Cup as a contender, the first "lab test" was mistakenly run as a concentrate. Then they "found" my sample and supposedly re-ran it at 17% THC. This is after I had it tested at 26%.

High Times riggs everything so that their large vendors always win. It's a joke. I do not participate in their events.

Exactly. The novelty is wearing off as there becomes more legalization, more scientific application and more legitimacy. I hope there WILL be some "expo's" or competitions some day where there is truly little or no bias and reasonable entry criteria.

Learned alot this run, thanks for all the support. I cut down a plant early and this stuff is soooo smooth. Flowers are full of false flag seed pods. Veg got fixed, letting em dry out and a destress, they look damn near perfect.

Thanks as usual team.

Doc or fellow brixmen, (am I coining a new term?) not sure what to call us.
brickaholics, brixmeisters, brixologists, brixosapiens, or birxn'at maybe only Sweetsue will get that one.

any of you foliar spray with plain water between brix waterings?

good, bad?

Not exactly, but I do spray with plain water after I foliar spray. I wait until the leaves are nearly dry from the foliar and then hit them with water-lightly. I only spray water on top of the leaves-not the underside. I've noticed - and this more true for Stress- that doing this results in less nute residue and "burn" on the leaves. I think it's really made a difference in keeping the leaves nice and shiny, not to mention clean:yummy:

Medman, good idea sir, yes it keeps the foliar residues from building up. This burn you describe is what mixing at too strong a dose of Brix does too. I find the plants i grow like the foliars mixed on the lighter side, dunno why. I only spray DeStress when training and tieing down . After i like the shape, the DS gets put aside , and i only go with BrixW/Way X10 once a week. Seems to be working well. Cheers Medman, and gang.:high-five:

I have something going on that's got me mildly concerned as I've not seen it before in my high brix grows. It looks like some leaves are uncharacteristically necrotic. All the new growth looks healthy, but Ive never had this type of look before at this stage. They are all in veg right now in 1 gal plastic pots and about 5 weeks from seed. Normally I would be planning on pruning and upcanning to their final pots this weekend, but I'm reluctant to just move forward without some type of explanation.

Here's how they are presenting:

Notice the fan leaf in the middle is ugly and withering, yet most below, and the new growth on top, all look fine

Here are some leaves I trimmed off today. I looked at them through reading glasses and loupe and see no signs of pests.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing damage from foliars. :hmmm:

The one leaf in the first pic (to the upper right of the toasted one) looks like Brix burn. But I haven't seen damage as extensive as those really bad leaves. I'd be thinking back on my foliar use though. :hmmmm:

I'd think so too except for the fact I haven't sprayed brix at all yet and only 1/2-strength destress a couple times.

I've had those little "rust" looking spots on almost all my last 4 grows and think it's the lights. Could be the strain-sensitivity too I guess as this is all I've grown with the exception of a lone gth#1 in each of them for variety. Those spots haven't been a real issue though as they haven't affected the quality or yield that i've noticed and the plants have all been quite healthy otherwise.

These seem healthy too, but those leaves have me wondering. This is in unused 1st run soil too...that is very much alive

Phosphorus Deficiency ?

I suppose it could be, but P-def isn't something we normally run into in the kit...as far as I know.

Yes....150ppm tap water should be fine. Over 200ppm and I'd get a filter. Mine is about 310 from the tap so I use an RO filter.
So I actually have an RO filter but it only works under a good amount of water pressure from the source of water. So far it only barely works when attached to a garden hose. Do you have any good recommendations on how I can increase the water pressure going from my sink to the filter? Also what do you recommend for water storage?

I have no idea what might be causing that. Only those plants and not others?

I don't know what brand RO filter you are using, but some manufacturers offer booster pumps.

Thoughts?

Observation: I see damage at 3 node levels. 1 leaf below worst leaf is less damaged. 1 leaf above is only affected on tips. This suggests to me that damage occurred in single instance when worst leaf was fully open at top and next leaf was just opening. I'm guessing necrosis took a while after damage to appear. Mild heat damage will appear that way. Leaf section dies slowly and turns black due to enzyme activity. Whatever the cause it appears to be over.
