MMM, your setup sounds eerily similar to mine right now except I'm just in a spare bedroom (leftovers from the 5 kids that USED to live here too, lol). It sounds like the others are on point with the numbers (ffs masonman... ) and while I've found an acceptable balance, I'm in a similar boat. In my own research, the best option (i.e. best bang for the buck too) would be an inline booster fan on your home a/c duct venting into the room.
It doesn't answer all the questions, but as masonman so eloquently explained, increasing your inlet cfm will make balancing temps/rh a bit easier.
I've considered an off-set room-to-room vent through the wall to the other spare bedroom (see above note) to help balance the pressure and increase cfm. I'm still tweaking after 3 years in there...
