Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Holy crap, Capn! That's a lot of plant you have there! :thedoubletake:

Your pot is 17-18 gallons. Are you feeding proportionately? That would be 10-12ml of drench at the dosage I use.

But whatever you're doing is working great!

I was going off proportions that I *thought* where appropriate, but apparently more "fuel" is acceptable so that's where I'll go from here. Thanks Graytail!

Beautiful work! Remember, the kit directions are based off of 6-7 gallon pots, so when it comes to dosages, adjust accordingly. Graytail is right, I'd be going with 10/12 mils of drench and 1 mil of tea for each pot. We dont feed the plants, we feed the soil in said pots. Oh, and if its veg'd that long in that pot, when you flip to flower, youre going to have to feed quite often because the soil is gonna run out of steam pretty quick. When it comes time for recharge id apply it then top the container off with as much new soil as I could get in there and maybe half a cup of ewc. That plant is so large its gonna use up the nutrients in the soil really fast...especially after she begins to flower in earnest. Good luck!

I was aware of the kit being made for six plants, but I've had several plants fail up to this point, before they were three months old. This is my first successful monster plant so I hadn't done any math up to this point. Thanks for the guidance!

Wow! I might have to learn how to grow a bunch of those.

My immediate thought on seeing your lovely shrubbery is to double up on feedings, top off the pot with Recharge/EWC and BLOOOOOOOM. I'd probably prune it up a bit first. It looks amazing!

Just so I'm clear, double the amount of drench, correct? Not the frequency with which I feed? I've never quite been clear on what is a good start for the watering pattern. For example, straight water one watering, then water with 1/4 Transplant, GE drench, etc.

Also, you suggested EWC and Recharge. Should I do that now, or still time that with the first few weeks of 12/12? I may wait another week or two before I start 12/12 because I need to get another fan, do some tent maintenance, a thorough cleaning and I'd like to fill those corners just in case it doesn't stretch much. By the way, how much Recharge?

Yes double the amount of drench since the pot is more than twice as large. Frequency is dependent on the plant's metabolism and water uptake.

I wouldn't wait two more weeks, the plant is huge. But if the environment isn't right, fix that ASAP and then bloom.

I think about a quarter or 3/8 cup of recharge is about right. Looking really good there! :goodjob:

Got it, thanks for the clarification and for your kit! Nice to know that even with half of the dose I should have been using, she's found a way to make it this big. However, her mature stems are kind of brittle...super hard and prone to snapping where a branch meets the main stem, or where a split occurred. I assumed genetics.

I need to top off the soil about a gallon, so I will mix that Recharge and EWC into a small amount of cooked soil, scratch up the top a little and put the mixture on top. Water it in and flip on the bloom switch on the Mars 1600 and then go 12/12 after a week.

I think I'll start a journal. This is uncharted territory for me so I'm going to need you veterans watching over my shoulder so I don't waste 7-8 months of veg work.

Lovely show, Doc Bud and all the high-brixers. Doc, would you please send me a PM ? I'm very interested in obtaining multiple kits or bulk, if possible.

Thanks!

Hey Doc, I'm sure it's easy to miss posts here and there, with all that's going on I thought I would resend my request for a PM. Thank you for all of your hard work, it really shows off! Hoping to get on the brix band wagon!

Doc, another question. I have a tub of soil that has been cooking for about a year now. It's probably one-third of a bale of Promix and I didn't really plan this, but I've been using it as a "digester" for everything I've trimmed and pruned from my HB plants over the past year. (I'm not talking about waste after harvest, just trimming and pruning along the way.) I add a little Roots every couple months and to speed things up, I keep a seed heating mat under the tub to offset the cold basement.

Is there a such a thing as too much of this adding plant matter to the cook? Since all of the plant matter is coming from the same species of plant and only from DBHB grows, I assume I can't "over do" it. What say you? Not sure where/if I can use this soil one day.

Edit: Should have mentioned, the soil in the tub is fresh kit soil that was never used in a grow, was just leftover from when I switched to drums instead of totes.

i have made too hot of soil by adding and not utilizing xs additives :)...what i did was 'dilute' the hot soil with unrun soil or even some unused promix, or second run soil without adding anything to it, and see if seeds take to the soil in a few weeks. Too much, or too little calcium , magnesium or any other important mineral and your grow will not be optimal.

Has anyone ever seen the white fuzz on the outside of their cloth pots? If so, is it good or bad to inhale such stuff? It can't be right?

ok..put the bong down..:) why are you inhaling white fuzz off your cloth pots?
..not everything white and fuzzy are trichome covered pistils

First, I want to thank everyone who provided feedback on whether my girls were ready for a CAT drench. I took your advice and gave them another 9 days. Here they are on day 29 from flip. Definite change in the smell/flavors overnight!

Yes i had the same issue with my first run (page 8) I was over watering and not sure if the 2 were related. After doing some digging I found an older post that said it was probably from the mycorrhizae growth and could be cleaned off with a peroxide solution. I never had had any fuzz that I remember but decided to leave it and started watering less. Im using the same pots for this grow and dont see any negative effects :Rasta:
