Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Re: Dropping the light like it's hot.

Maybe the footprint won't allow it, but can you lower the lights a little more? I don't use LEDs, but it seems like you could get the CFL within a couple if inches and the LED closer as well. That should help with the stretch. I had a 600W HPS less than 16" away with no problems. Just an idea.

I can lower the lights, but I'm hesitant. The Mars Hydro LED lights in my flower tent range from 10-14" away, but some of the top hairs are getting a little singed (one Papaya is more sensitive to light than the other). I'll probably leave the LED in my veg cabinet at 15-18" above and let the ladies grow up toward it until they don't like it anymore, then I'll raise it. Bringing the CFL closer makes sense, but I don't have a convenient way of getting it closer without blocking the LED light. Anyway, I'm gonna go with this setup for a few days and see how the ladies do. If they get too unruly, I'll chop their tops off again. Henry the 8th I am, I am. Henry the 8th I am!

Are you guys talking about the TOPLED MarsIIs? If so I wouldn't really go under 18" with them if you can avoid it. If I remember correctly my plants were happier when I kept them around 2'. :thumb:

In my flower tent are the older Mars Hydro 300w (100 x 3w) and the Mars Hydro II 400w (80 x 5w). Since I only have 5' of height, I don't have the option to raise them to 18" and my plants are doing fine. In my veg cabinet, I have a no-name 138w UFO LED light. The no-name brand has 3w LEDs and still puts out a lot of light, so I'm staying cautious for me at 15-18". If you can't tell, I like to walk the line between the perfect amount of light and too much light. Thank you for the input, though.

Right on the 400w model doesn't need as much height as the bigger ones. I thought u had the 900 for some reason maybe someone else was talking bout that one and it stuck in my :passitleft: head

Took some pics today.

We all do our weekend updates and are all like "fuck yeah!!!!" Then here comes Doc...puttin us all to shame! Damn you Doc!!! *shaking my fist in your general direction*:loopy:

Me, I love Doc's updates....he's so consistent, just like a machine...pumping out grow after grow...I am a newb, and get to compare mine with his.....unfortunately my grow #3 had to be shit canned because of PM....lost my handle on my environment....I can hear him preaching....cried in my wine for a time, ordered a sulfur burner, and am picking up new beans tomorrow for grow #3......Doc inspires me, his concepts are sound, and he is priceless in my book.... so I didn't throw in the towel and I'm charging forward.....thanks Doc :circle-of-love:

CRAP! What a bummer.
Your next round will be awesome! :cheertwo:

thanks, PITA, I lost control of my environment....Doc preaches about it all the time....this time of year in Michigan the RH is all over the board in spring and summer....I realized my dehumidifier was recalled and caused house fires, so I shut it down....and boom.....PM....I really beat myself up bad for a few days....got rid of 36 plants....and I'm a perfectionist...but I am stepping up and fixing the problem....

I keep onboarding new patients as well, so my marketing skills are top shelf, I have Doc's kit, check....I just need to dial in the environment factor....there is so much help available through all of you, to give up would be really weak, but that is not me....I am Shawnee fierce....:nomo:

Morning Doc, thanks for all the time and advice. I'm probably not worthy of your knowledge but I am sure going to use it anyway.
I'm interested in getting a Hi Brix Kit for my next grows. It's taking me longer than I'd like to get to the 50 post minimum, so if there is another way to contact you please let me know.
Thanks!

Sulfur burn will set them straight.

Get the humidity up to at least 80%, 100% is best if you can manage it. Then run the sulfur for 5 or 6 hours in the dark with the humidity way up there and your PM is gone.

We might have a problem if your "location" on your Avatar is accurate. I don't ship kits to people who aren't growing legal crops.

Doc - Is the high RH to get the sulfhur to "stick" to the surfaces?
