Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc input I'll order today! If I can find it.

Also how you guys check your soil high brix pot leaves on top? Sprinkle roots on? Any water? I'm on week 3 want to check soon never did before.
I don't know anything about those worm castings. I'm sure they're fed the best diet possible on planet earth, etc. Probably some naked hippy/gypsy's sing reggae music to them on second Friday's every month, etc. That's all super cool and makes me feel really good....no doubt more love goes into them than my low-budget organic Wiggle Worm. (republicans own the company I'm told....bastards)

But none of that matters much to me. It's the K levels we worry about!

I'm in the works with George the owner to have regular pallets delivered to Seattle. Since the website links for distributors in WA are not accurate.

I would just like to say apart from "likes" that VonD and Contradino (sp? reminds me of my boy Courtinho - GO REDS!) are my favorite "outside" contributors to the High Brix discussion.

I won't pretend to delve into the scientific stuff, but along with Doc, they manage to break down alot of info into shit I can absorb.

Cheers homies!

ps: wtf secret shit is Curso working on?! or maybe I've been missing a journal?!?!

Hmmm thx man, but I post on this thread like once a month :)

Stoked to see someone mention worm gold plus. Just thought I'd point out that worm gold plus is 92% WORMGOLD® Pure Worm Castings, 3% Fossilized Kelp (to supply Calcium), 5% Rock Mineral (to supply mineral balance). The kelp and Rock minerals are added. They aren't present in the worm castings. The best thing about WGP is that they have 200 million CFU Chitin Degraders and 400 million CFU Cellulose Degraders. The higher the Chitinase enzyme is present in the plant. The more potent it will secrete through the flesh of the plant. It is like the scent off sour milk to pests.

Sounds like a wonderful product. Just don't use it in my kit please!

After hearing about the kelp and rock minerals (both of which are in my mineral amendment in the exact, correct ratio's) I'm confident that this product will decrease the fertility of my kit soil!

If someone was absolutely dead-set on using this product, they would have to get the soil tested with the product added and go from there. I promise if you used Promix HP as a base and added these EWC your soil would FAIL the test!

It's possible that some other base material could be found with lower potassium, at which time these EWC could be added successfully. But I chose Promix because it's peat moss and readily available.

I placed my leafs on top of the soil after a watering. Sprinkled with "Roots!" then place a little mound of soil in the middle on top of the leaf. 3 days later, lots of life.

Hey Doc, quick question for ya.

You're gonna think this is hilarious.

So, started my HB seeds in Coco to get them germinated and popped, cause I have had only success with that method before, and I didn't want to waste my expensive genetics! Well, I killed 2 of my three seeds. I think it was to warm when they were in there, my Pure Kush popped but has been growing EXCEPTIONALLY slow. The Auto cracked its husk, then died. The Exodus Cheese shot out a huge tap root, but couldn't pull itself out of the seed husk, and it was rotting under the Coco.

I might pop some more if I decide not to just start from Clones. What temperature should my soil be for seeds?

The goal with worm castings is to get some with "Zero" for K in NPK. .1-.1-0 or something like that.

When the calcium/potassium ratio drops below 18/1 brix levels decrease. The more potassium in the soil, compared to calcium, the poorer the produce.

Oh sure, it will be green and the buds might look decent, but potassium will have substituted for calcium in the cell wall, stems will be weak, sugars will be low, terpenes will be less....generally low quality all around.

So, when you shop for worm castings, make sure the potassium level is GooseEgg.

Just a recap:

Calcium should be 18 times higher than phosphorus and potassium, which should be present in equal amounts.....1/18 of the amount of calcium. The Cal/Mag ratio should be 7-10/1.

This is why I won't use products like silica, or coconut water (sky high in K) I'm hearing about. It's not a matter of opinion, it's firm science. When the Ca/K ratio narrows, crop quality goes down. Period.

Preach mate preach! Couldn't be more on the same page with you if at all possible. The thing I love of Worm Gold Plus is that its 1-1-1 for N-p-k. I've yet to find a casting lower in K than 1.0. Do you have one you use that is .1? Cheers Doc

68 degrees.

BTW, why not just start them in the right soil to begin with?

Wiggle worm is 1-0-0. It's OMRI certified organic.

I don't pretend they're the "best" EWC out there. I like them for these reasons:

1. They are available in most places
2. They are zero K
3. they are relatively inexpensive.

They work in my kit. It's pretty much all I use. I'd gladly try another brand, it just has to be zero K!

Republican here. I'm sticking to wiggle worm.

Laughed my ass off. Bet there's a drum circle involved as well.

I soak my seeds for 10 hours in 74 degrees ro water. while the seeds are soaking i put my solo cups with pre soaked light warrior with a little extra ewc in the humidity dome with a 2 foot four bulb t5 about 6 inches above the dome to get the environment ready for the seeds. Then after the 10 hours is up i plant them in the solo cups, a couple water droplets on the seed while in the hole then cover the hole and usually i don't water for almost a week. I for some reason never can get seeds to sprout in lower temps like 68. I always get real purple stems and really slow growth when they pop up if i have the temp lower. I find it easier to use the humidity dome so i don't have to keep the top soil moist as much. My seeds are usually poking out of the soil in less than 36 hours after going in dirt.

Whew, glad you said that cause that's what I already did! Thanks for the quick response Doc! BTW I just sprouted 5/5 crappy bagseed just to see if I could. No problem at all starting just the way you layout in the directions.

I know she's an ugly women but hey everyone needs a trashy girl every now and then.

So the cbd widow was inside I pulled her out she's in a 7 but guess what up potting it to a 30 as soon as soils ready. My personal goal is 4 lbs

So this should be one of the biggest docs high brix outdoor plants in my neighborhood anyhow.
Any tips or suggestions welcome. Just picked up the 30 gallon

Libertarian Independent here, but that's not helping me. Doc, if I received clones in rockwool how should I proceed transplanting?

Actually I lean more libertarian but Washington is so far left I have to try and do my part to balance it out. Lol.

I'm 100% libertarian. I just did a radio show on police brutality/libertarian philosophy. If anyone is interested I'll PM you a link to the podcast.

It happened on 05/05 on 920AM KVEC. Podcast. If anyone is interested they could search that link pretty easy. Start at about 1:10 in.....

I'll bet with air temps at 74 degrees, your soil temps are about 68. Evaporation cools the soil.
