Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Oaxaca yeah, another dream of mine :) I almost got the seeds while my friend was in the region, but he couldn't take them with him, cause he was passing USA, where they're illegal :) But I'm gonna grow Mexi anywa, just from Sinaloa :tokin:

Quick question, Doc...

I'm getting close to using the Recharge for my air-pots and I was wondering, now that I am down to 4 air-pots (which hold 5.8 gal. of soil), whether I can use all of the Recharge for just the 4 pots? So, instead of 60 grams for each if you have 6 pots, could I give them 90 grams each for the 4 pots? Will it help, hurt or not make too much of a difference?

And, on that subject, I notice that some HB'ers are adding the Worm Castings right before the second Cat Drench. Is this an update to the instructions or do we still just go with what feels right depending on how the plants look?

EWC-top off......personal preference. I haven't done it in several runs, but I'm on used soil too.

I think you could get away with the heavy re-charge. Do it sooner, rather than later and try to water it in over two or three waterings, not all at once.

Hello everyone. Doc,....would like to jump in here if ya don't mind and comment on how i use the Recharge etc. We all like to tweek things and kind of figure out how it all works .Make mistakes etc. I add the Recharge first ,scratch it in a little ,all around, then cover with a good 1-2 inches of EWC. Water this in slowly with a drench of your choosing a week or so before flip. When i get thinking of it all though ....it depends how long you veg for ,or how long theyv'e been in their final pots. We ask alot of our soil in these dinky little pots we use indoors eh! If i could just cover the whole floor ,i would. Since growing in the bigger side of pots ,i've noticed alot more room for error and less concerns of the soil running out of gas ,so to speak. Rambling , sorry:lot-o-toke: I like to give the Recharge ,also as you mentioned, early rather than later .

On another note....Sativas, all you people that can grow them are so lucky. Conradino, would love to puff some of your finest, and Doc ,your WW must taste incredible! Gonna try some Desfran soon. it's Destroyer X Destroyer. Has won many awards down in S.A. and has been fine tuned to produce some special smoke. Growing them in my little space ,in these 26 gal. pots should be quite a challenge. Well i've said more than enough ....have a great night Gang. Cheers :circle-of-love:

Hey doc, one of my neighbors has a jar of seeds from back when he used to grow outdoors maybe 10 years ago. Are these any good still and if so how do I go about choosing the better of them?

I'll be a lot of them will grow!

Choose large, hard, speckled ones, but really at this point you're just going to go with the ones that sprout.

Soak them for 24 hours in water, then plant them. Give 'em a week to 10 days. I'll bet 50% of 'em germ if they were good to begin with.

I am still trying to pop my 35+ yr old Oaxacans.

A few actually oozed out some white the other day and I stuck them in some dirt to see what happens.

I have about an ounce of those seeds and will keep trying till they are all gone.

One of the Colombian Gold oozed too, into the dirt she went.

"Seed germination is accelerated when humic acid black is added. Humic acid's effect on seed germination is similar to its effect on rooted plants. Humic acid, carrying both micronutrients and water, is drawn into the seed through the pore, stimulating growth of the radical. Not only do they germinate faster but also there is a higher percentage of seeds germinating. "

My product "Tea" is humic acid, beneficials and micros. It's in the soil, so it need not be in the soaking water. When the seed is put in high brix soil and watered in, there is plenty of humic acid and all it's benefits on seed and root is enjoyed.

I always think this when I top water my LOS pots. Build a good soil and every watering becomes a beneficial tea, doesn't it? One of my initial goals was soil to grow from seed to harvest. Now it becomes a matter of making it stronger. How nice of you all to share so freely.

Hash hound,

Do you have some humic acid? soaking seeds in solution of humic acid may help them germinate.

I have tried every recommended method over the past 6 years with nothing more than a little ooze from a few seeds.

I had a false alarm this morning. I checked on the seeds I put in dirt the other day and when I checked this morning I saw a little green peeking out of the dirt. I chuckled when I saw it was a piece of perlite that turned a little green. lol

I did a good watering the other day, then came back the next day and added the CD. I took pic the day before then the next day there's more tric's in the morning on the bigger leafs and the small leafs look like there is a oil slick. Just all sticky icky. I believe I have a slight trip damage, there are some white splotches on some of the leafs but cannot find any bugs. Will the bug and pest take care of it or do I need something else?:Namaste:

If you've got bug/pest, that will work. But I've had reports of PM trouble using it indoors, so be warned.
