Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Go big or go home Dutty......

Quick question about the recommended worm castings with an NPK of 1-1-0. Most worm castings I find don't list NPK at all, and the ones that do aren't 1-1-0. Can someone suggest a brand or website?

I believe Wiggle Worm is a pretty popular brand of EWC around this website. :cheesygrinsmiley: I could be wrong, or their could be other better alternatives, however I have seen this one mentioned several times around here.

Max is correct I asked the question a few weeks ago......can't find it now. Anyway to quote curso....."wiggle worm is the defacto brand most use"

OK Thanks guys, appreciate it. I'm sorry for the noob questions, but I do have a few more:

Is it worth getting an atomizer for foiler spray? If so, any recommendations? If not, what would you use?

What is the most LED wattage per square foot you've seen for a high brix grow? This is more for shits and giggles. I have a CLW Solarflare 880, but have visions of three Platinum P600's in my head. Hahahah I should probably get my first grow out of the way before I consider more wattage though.

I have 5.6 gallon air pots. Should I get 10 gallon?

Thanks again.

Hey Doc, out of curiosity, how would you start an outdoor grow that has from mid May until early October to finish? Both strains I have selected are done by the last week of September and lately Colorado has had very late winters. I had a long wall of text with my questions but I'll just make a quick list haha.

1) For largest possible plants outside would you suggest starting from Clone or Seed?
2)If I mother the two plants I want to grow outside, clone them for the High Brix grow, then move them outside (from under 18/6) when the outdoor season starts will they immediately start flowering?
3) Off my last question, would that pose any problems for the plants? Like potential hermaphriditing?

Thanks everyone! :cheesygrinsmiley:

EDIT :: My kit came in the mail yesterday Doc, and everything looks great. Very well packaged and all of the labels are very aesthetically pleasing. Very professional Doc, and SUPER fast shipping. Thank you for everything! Pic on my journal for anyone interested in what the entire kit looks like.

When starting from clone, the important thing is to match up the photoperiod, so your clones don't get put outside when the sun is out but they're used to darkness. They don't do "jetlag" very well.

So, go to the Farmer's Almanac and find out the best day to plant....I just did a quick reference and they say May 1st for seed, and May 4th for Transplants.

From the same source, determine what time the sun will come up on that day and have your cloning/veg lights turn on at that time every day, so when it's time to transplant nothing is stressed. Have your soil all prepared and make sure you have a way to keep them warm if needed (quick and dirty greenhouse from visqueen will work if needed) and you're off to the races!

But if you really want to supercharge your grow and don't have enough homegrown to meet soil building needs, find a source for Worm Power vermicompost. I got mine from Build A Soil, but there are many other sources. Unbelievable quality in those bags. Worm Power makes everything but homemade pale in comparison. Well worth the investment. I was so pleased I increased my soil volume to add more in. It was likely one of the contributing factors in my grow's success. When I redressed my no-tolls this morning I used my leftover Worm Power and topped it with homemade. My next grow is going to surpass my initial one, no doubt about it, and that Worm Power that makes up a major component of my soil (about 1/3 volume), along with my super-charged home grown, will assure that.

Bigger is better. Increased soil volume, assuming you have excellent soil, means more roots. More roots means more attachment points for fungi and microbes. Happier soil, healthier and more abundant roots leads to bigger, more vigorous plants.

What's the potassium content in that product Sue? It sounds interesting.

Can't find it now Doc, and since it's the weekend I probably won't be able to track anyone down before Monday to find out. What I do know is that the worms making this vermicompost are fed thermophilic compost instead of peat moss, so the castings are superior quality. Beautiful and potent stuff. I highly recommend it.

I like that website very much. The lab they use for testing as a very good lab! They're following the Albrecht protocol pretty well, which is very similar to what I do with a few exceptions.

I'm looking forward to incorporating a few new things going forward. Thanks for the info!

This bubblegum plant was badly neglected. Temps ranged from 49°F to 90°F. It's at day 55 of12/12. I could only care for it once every three days. But with Doc's kit (I cut a couple early buds) it smells, tastes and has as good a high as anything i've ever had. Wow!
