Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc & fellow HBers,

I've searched the forum unsuccessfully for the following. I need clarification for applying Transplant in week 7 of flowering. Earlier instructions said Transplant at full strength, but I know Doc has modified the formulas so were now typically applying Transplant at ¼ strength at each watering.

There a lot of experimenting going on, which is great, but I'm still "new" and want to do this by the book. So, what is the recommended drench for week 7? The previous three weeks drenches were: Cat + Tea, Cat +Tea and Energy + Tea. Thanks!

That little bit of transplant is just to keep the soil happy. You could just use energy and the following water add the little bit of transplant. I dont have measurements I dont go that far. I have a good eye with that shit. Its just a blop in the 5gl bucket. Like .25oz in 5gl of water..

In my schedule, I do Cat, Cat, Water, Energy, Water, then full Transplant. After that I alternate Energy and Water or straight Energy, no matter how long the plant goes. I'm giving 1/4 Trans at every watering but not in the other drenches.

:Namaste:

Wow! This stuff is finally beginning to make sense to me, and I can see many correlations between what you're doing and many of the things that make my method so successful.

But I'm excited that I'm reading along and suddenly I'm understanding and thinking "Yes! That was an excellent point."

You guys do a good job here. You're contributing a valuable resource of material. Thanks for that. :green_heart:

Oh...you're on the right track Sue....no doubt about it. You also have the "greenthumb" thing going on.

It will be really nice to see more light in your garden someday. Here's hoping!

RE what you're doing/we're doing........we're both trying to grow the best produce possible and given that purity of mind it's only natural there should be correlations. When the bugs aren't around and the plants are bright green and shiny/waxy looking, that's what we're looking for.

Oh, it'll happen Doc. I have no doubt about that. And a bigger space too. It will be fun. :laughtwo:

Planning for it, dreaming about it, anticipating it - it's kinda what makes me tick. I'm having a blast Doc.

Doc, do I have this correct? Its the energy released from the flipping of the plant from anions(growth) to cations (reproduction/flower) that pushes the pistil formation to the max? The foliars help flip that switch?
If so then a gradual flip, one where you slowly incorporate Cat into the watering, phasing out the Growth Energy probaby wouldnt be as energetic as a sudden addition of the normal amt of Cat?

Correct, Ziggy.

Keep in mind that the plant hormones are the main factor driving the bloom process and that is based on photoperiod. What we do with the soil and foliars is maybe 5-10% of the overall "control" of the plants growth characteristics.

Cations, especially NH3, help further stimulate reproductive response to blooming hormones.

Also, for some reason, playing one drench off the other seems to have a multiplier effect. This is actually what the lab recommends, switching between growth and reproductive growth.

How we do it is what we're all figuring out.

Doc, :thanks:

FWIW, with this soil I am playing with. If anyone is following along with the rescue soil, the further along you get in its development the less frequent the drenches are. I have only used drenches about 4 times through my whole flowering phase this round. Its the tail end of my 7th run. It seems that more water does wonders.

What I mean is I have always watered at least 2 times between each drench. These later runs its 3-4 depending on where it is in the grow.

So dont be afraid to just use good ol' H2o, they kinda like that shit.

doc helped me knock out the trimming and washing of my purple cadillac today,
couldn't be happier with how it turned out.! ill post pics of buds when she's dry:thumb:

Question for you guys about fans.

I'm used to seeing the multiple 3 speed oscillating wall fan as the standard solution, but considering a single industrial style ceiling fan for my room instead, then making a bracket to hang the lights below it.

Some of my paramaters: 4 lights, 2 over each 4x8 table in a 10x12x12h room

Thanks for your thoughts as usual my dudes. Things are entering reality this week, I expect to begin a journal with visible content within the month.

I have a 48" ceiling fan in my room as primary circulation though I have a small fan in the cabinet too. I've considered adding another floor fan, but as long as they continue to do well, I've been able to hold off on that upgrade. On highest setting, it makes the fans dance, but not the branches so much. Seems to be fine.

I need some expertise - having some leaf issues with my girls. AK48 day 42 of flower, so it's close I think, but the fan leaves, not all, are turning rusty in center and a couple are browning on the edges. Wasn't apparent at all two weeks ago. Environment isn't perfect by any means, 25-40 RH, 63-81 degrees temp ( it's been record cold February here, -15F tonight!, yikes) but it's the best I can do right now in the dead of the coldest winter ever. Fabric pots, been feeding/watering about every five days, one gallon, 1/2 bottom and 1/2 top. Was on cruise control til now...

Everyone's plants look so beautiful, sorry mine are lagging. They are close to the end so I'm not freaking out entirely yet but I would like to understand how I've erred. Pics to view the carnage!

Looks like the roots got cold and the room was very dry. The fact that the condition is effecting all the plants is pretty indicative of that. If you can bump up the temps and rH it will help quite a bit.

Try a double strength Transplant/Tea drench the next time they need water. That should help get the roots happy again.

The canopy looks great!

Thanks for the quick response on the salty drench

Ok ill post so up to date pics soon. So far I've just watered that initial time with transplant. It's been almost a week and there ready for water soon. Just water correct?
When will be the next product growth, cat, brix etc. Last time you said once there's more leaves.
So after this watering then growth Energy?
The reason I ask is my Strains I'm intended on using the salt drench
Pestelence s1
Jedi kush
Ultra grapefruit
Power flower or Blackwater not sure bonza messed my pack up
Jillybean
Chronic thunder
9# hammer
Bubble Yum
Pure kush.

I like to add 1/4 strength Tranpslant to waterings. Next time, use Growth Energy. Feed on the high side for those strains.

As for the Salty Drench, use it in bloom. Talk to Pakalolo about his timing for it. I use it in the latter half of bloom and mix it with Transplant and Epsom salts. The salt lovers like it strong....LOL.

Seriously Pakololo Ha had some great success with it. Make sure you ask him exactly what he did. Either way, you won't kill anything.
