Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hello Brothas
What is opinion of EWC tea as a foliar ??

Lookin forward to input !

Have a good 1
Bulldog

I only use 2 foliars: Brix and DeStress. They are designed to be used with high brix soil.

The benefits of foliar feeding are not fully realized until the soil is done right, but if you are growing in regular soil and you feel compelled to spray your plants, I suppose EWC tea is as good as anything else.

What do you hope to accomplish with it?

BD...Doc, the mix sounds good ,but next time ,leave out the Kelp and alfalfa. Also ,you let this mix cook,right...then it's pretty "rich" so keep feedings of neptune to minimum use tea regularly with just water. Doc...sound like fair advice? Just wonderin bro! Seein if iv'e learned anything in 25 = yrs.
Has anyone heard from S.G.A.? Have a real decent day Gang!

I think compost tea or EWC tea would be fine.

Why would you be worried the product comes from China? I've not heard of any ferts that are Chinese made before.

Anyways, I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but if you're just searching for something to spray on plants this product will do, but if you want higher brix plants this is the WRONG product.

1. very low in calcium, which is the most important element
2. VERY HIGH in Potassium, which is the enemy of High Brix
3. Not compatible with Calcium Nitrate, sulphates and phosphates.....oh well, there goes the bloom phase

So, I wouldn't use the spray you reference. If I was dead set on spraying my plants with something, and I didn't do my homework and scientifically, properly balance my soil, I'd spray a compost tea solution.....but that's only if I couldn't help myself and just had to spray my plants with something.

Knowing what I know now, I'd skip foliar spraying altogether unless I had a soil test that called for it......IE in high brix soil, or some other tested soil.

It just doesn't work if your soil isn't done right.

Have you thought about selling pictures of your buds back to the breeders lol. Who wouldn't buy the seeds with pictures like your's on the pack...

I have no idea who brought the Lemon Paki to this hemisphere, or who bred it. It's something of a mystery, indeed the guy who gave me the cut told me it was sacred. It's definitely one of the best strains I've ever seen and it really likes this soil.

I went a little hot on the soil, as an experiment, but even so the buds are looking and smelling fantastic.

Champagne is a landrace Thai. Again, no breeder to thank....just some soldier/sailor/traveller/diplomat who brought seeds stateside sometime in the 1970's.

I've got some interesting strains by seed. Every now and then I pop a few and look for treasure. Next on the list Colombian Red...the lowland variety that grows faster and shorter.

Doc

I harvested today and when I emptied out those grow pots I may have found one of the problems that hindered the plants vitality.

It was recommended to put 2 inches of perlite on the bottom, which I did.

When I dumped the soil out the perlite was real real compacted. Almost looked like it had melted together. It needed to be forced to breakup.
There were roots growing around the mass, but very few roots throughout the packed perlite.

I doubt I will use them again for anything but house plants. And skip the perlite.

I think HP porosity is good enough it would have been fine by itself at the bottom of the pot doing the wicking action.

Live n learn.

On a good note the frost on the core of the buds packed on pretty good at the end.

And the little hash ball I made from the trim scissors was the fruitiest tastiest flavor I have tasted since I have been growing.

I sorry those pots let you down HH. I sure hope you give it another go.

IMO you should buy some 7 gal or bigger air pots and give the high brix soil another go. You already have your soil all tuned up and ready to rock would be a shame to give up now.

GL with whatever you choose :thumb:

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Smokey, I've already got new 7gl fabric bags which have worked very good in the past and are also easier to handle.
They are loaded with my own version of mineralized aged/used supersoil.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Right on. I was hoping those fancy pots were gonna work out for you, I was looking at them too. At least there is always another grow right around the corner. Best of luck to your next round :thumb:

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc, graytail, tavosvo, and the other members (sorry if not listed) of the HB Fellowship to Grow The Best Cannabis, if you have idea how many oz of your dense buds fit into a qt Ball jar? I know doc listed a couple of times one strain he grew was extra heavy... :)

I can get over 4 oz of anything in larger sized jars. However, one time the Paki was so dense I got a QP jammed into a regular sized jar.

It's quite strain dependent, of course, but when you get one of the strains that really likes the soil, you'll yield very well.

Pics later today....

I use quart canning jars and I typically can stuff 1.5 ounces in there. Some of them get a little tight, but the Boveda is reassuring and I'll shake 'em up a bit to loosen 'em up, after they've cured a few weeks. So far, so good. :cheesygrinsmiley:
