Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I've a question too (I hope it wasn't answered back on pg 18...I swear I've read it); With the drenches and foliars keyed on reproduction, how would autos fare? I don't have any, and never grown an auto, but I may assign 1 grow slot to an auto this time...not sure.

I have no idea....as I've never grown an auto. It's the kind of thing you just have to experiment with. I'd be tempted to really pump up the growth side of things using Growth Energy far more than Transplant and Cat.

SGA ran some autos in high brix:

Sir Grow Alot - High Brix Autos Indoor/Outdoors

I've thought about it, and it'd be a little tricky to try to do it "right". It may not make much of a difference - dunno - but I'd want to get the early Transplant to them for root development, and then I'd want to switch to Energy and stay with it, to get as much growth as possible before the blooming hormones completely take over. I'd probably feed a bit more often or heavier, too, while they're in veg. Then I don't see any reason that Cat drench wouldn't be just as effective, so I'd time that the same as a photoperiod plant, and again, finish on Energy. They'd just end up getting less Transplant, essentially.

Relaxed Lester's KC-45s are mighty nice ruderalis crosses ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Here's a long overdue update on stuff I'm doing:

As of right now I've got 6 plants in bloom.....about 1/5th of normal. That should be changing rapidly in the next 2 or 3 weeks as my schedule clears up. I'll be running one full tray under 2 brand new LED's that I'll be demo'ing. The other tray will be the usual 2000 watts of HPS.

My AC froze up solid a few days ago, so I yanked it, tossed it in the bin and put in another one. Other than that, no problems. I've got 4 lemon Paki, a Grape Ape that looks like a keeper, with 5 more on deck waiting to grow if I like this one, some Purple Cadi, Champagne and Willie Nelson on deck, as well as some landrace Afghan.

Things should be getting back to their sticky, smelly "normal" pretty fast. In the meantime, here's the Grape Ape, which I think might be a keeper.

Also, I've got the stalks of Grape Ape, and Willie Nelson. The thicker one is Wille. Minimal staking...the stems are very strong and the plants are healthy.

Hey Doc, sorry if there was an update but are you still doing the leaf wash foliar during mid bloom then again 2 days after a final spray of brix and stress(separate applications)? Then harvest 5-7 days later? Thanks

I'm not using that product indoors anymore. While it works like magic....I got maybe a half dozen reports of mold issues after spraying and the product even says, "not for indoor use."

Works like a charm outdoors, however. I loved the way it cleaned everything and made it shine....and I never had problems, but the reports were pretty conclusive.....don't use it indoors.

I'll rephrase: most ruderalis crosses come out crap.

Agree , it be hard times, if you want to do rudealis scratch around for some bag seeds. Like after all we put a lot of time and effort and cash into the soil like material, why someone would put trash genetics into it baffles me !

Have a good 1, Bulldog

That Grape Ape is going to taste so good. That is in my top 5 favorites (so far) though I haven't had it in HB. I am sure it's going to be fantastic.

It's nice to see your plants again bro. That Willie is nice but man that grape ape....

New LED?!?!?!?! What ya gonna be using Doc?

They, autos, rock in HB soil :) if I may, and if I can post a picture... I will post some autos photos :)

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hello again,:bongrip:

Doc, How much time is the soil viable without plants after its cooked for the 30 days? If say I cooked 60gal but wanted to pot only 12 to 15 gal per month (or a month and al half), so it would take me about 4 to 6 months to use it all. I´m asking this because it could lead to an increase in the anaerobes and stuff, im not troubled about the nutes I think the ammendment has plenty.
Anyway, if it could go this way me be a solution would be to stir it every 3 weeks or so, the use of perlite is also good for good soil airflow.
I appreciate the thoughts on this. :Namaste:

It will keep for months....think bags of soil in the nursery. Just keep it slightly moist an turn it over once in a while. Extreme temps are the problem. 68 degrees is the ideal temp for STORING the soil. You want to COOK it in slightly warmer temps if possible.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thank you Doc! One more question, the shop offers two kinds of peats: Spagnum Acid and Neutral peat. Which should I go for? :O

Will it be ok storing in 74-80 degree temps. Thats about what my house fluctuates between and I use less than half of a kit per batch since I only run three plants at a time soon to be two and would like to get a recycling program going if my temps allow it. I did just get bigger pots 12gal so maybe it wont be such an issue now anyway but was curious how the soil would hold up at these temps.

Also my promix came with basically no perlight in it this time. Any idea on an estimate of how much I need to buy to get half of a kit up to normal amount? Pic below.

The flush seemed to help my amazonias, they look a little healthier tonight already then they were looking last night and they were getting worse by the day. Thanks everyone for your help figuring out what was wrong and the advice on how to get them back on track!

Here is a pic of my soil mix that is missing the majority of the perllight. It looks like the top all the way through.
