Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Why aren't we using vermiculite in this mix? I understand that the biota like it, so I've been considering adding some in my next mix.

Give it a try! It's not called for in the soil test and it does effect CE...but worth a try!

I did see that 5% of vermiculite in there. I suppose I'm the test monkey.

Hmm it's possible my bugs are beneficial predatory mites...still trying to lock that down. Will likely bring soil back indoor and rejoice if that's the case

Hey doc, Im new here but have been following your journal in the background. I also read threw a few of your older ones. I'm really interested in trying high brix but dont yet have the means of creating a perfect environment just yet. But I want to make a step towards a higher brix. I want to know what would you recommend I try as of now to get a feel of brix. My soil mix consists of premier peat moss and perlite mostly....small amounts of vermiculite and coco fibers. I think I have maybe 2 cups 0-10-0 bat guano per 4 cuft and 2 cups of bone meal....10 gal worm castings per cuft..1 bag ancient forest(had it on hand, used just to get rid of). My next step was toward adding the 6-5-3 rock powders. With the knowledge you have now, could you think of anything I could add to help get me towards high brix? After this run, I will be investing in my environment and your kit.

I mean 10lbs worm castings, not 10 gal

Doc, the SC 12/12 from seed has some seriously purple/red petioles. Sprayed brix pretty good twice over about a week and a half and since then its gotten worse. Just transplanted about 6 days ago btw. The relatively older leaves are kinda droopy as well. Good energy drink instead of water next?
Thanks bro

You're feeding and spraying too much. Brix should be sprayed every week to 10 days on large plants. New tranplants should get DeStress....but don't do that now, because you've already sprayed twice with Brix.

Did you dust the rootball with Roots?
Are you using the old Roots that needs transplant water, or the new stuff that doesn't?

I'd give them straight water with a bit of Tea and let them dry out before giving another feeding.

Yeah doc, it was about 9 or 10 days between sprayings and i am using the old roots. Ditch it and use it for my veggies?
So just tea no trans?
Thanks btw bro

You said you sprayed twice in a week and a half.....that's too much for small plants. If you're using the old roots, give 'em a good dose of Transplant water: 1 oz per gallon, and add 4 mils of Tea to that. That should do the trick!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thanks bro. They aren't on the plants though. In my soil recycle bin. Now that I can see them a little clearer, they don't look like root aphids as much as soil mites or weird spider mites.

Is it possible these are beneficial bugs?!

Edit: still can't figure what kind of bug. Taking no chances. Soil going to outdoor garden.
Hey Tav...glad you got rid of it...no sense fuc...ing around with it! Cheers.

Brother hahah emotional roller coaster of a ride those critters gave me.

Took the bins to the outdoor garden at lunch yesterday, then at work graytail mentioned I should ask relaxed Lester about them, and the consensus is that they are beneficial predatory mites. They eat fungus gnat larvae and all kinds of other junk in the soil.

So, back to the garden I went last night to rescue my bins from the outside world and return them to the safety of the indoor garden.

It sure looks these bugs are my new friends

No way...are you serious? Good one Tav...I know ,if it was me they would be some kind of mutant weed eating bastards...HAHA!When i go outside to do any yard work at all, i make sure i stay away from my very precious indoor garden when i come back in the house. From experience i've learned that most pests can be delt with ,by using some kind of product...but root aphids...forget it ,they're tough s.o.b's.I remember having nightmares trying to save a crop of "critical kush" that had R.A. ,so just be glad that's not what they are and that we have friends here that can offer pricless advise like Lester!Cheers Tav...and i'l have a Stella for ya:)

T, i hope you got those critters sorted.

guys, check out this high brix, bag seed beauty. I have a feeling she's could be all I ever dreamed of. She's about 3.5 weeks since pistils. Cold someone comment on her 'type'? I have no idea of her provenance.

Nice brix on that plant. No idea what she could be, what kind of smells you getting? And how was the weed from that bag?

Ludweed, I haven't grown an OG, but doesn't it have that sort of look to it? Kinda reminds me of an Afghan habit, small compact buds ... and don't White Widows grow like that?

I'm guessing indica dominant Kushy genetics. :scratchinghead::bongrip:
