Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey brixers, just got done with some 3rd run soil and need to get some 4th run going just forgot if I need to cook it at all after I cut it with some fresh promix or coco, or do can I mix it up and go ahead and use it right away?
I don't use past 3rd run personally, but people have had success with it. You'll want to cut it with fresh pro-mix and it will definitely need to cook. I would assume 3rd run amendment, but @Duggan would be there better one to answer this question. He should be along shortly to better answer your question.

A couple relevant and somewhat recent posts on the 3rd run topic. 3rd run amendment, 10-15 lbs of ewc, and cut the mix with some extra Promix and perlite to restore some of the balance. For past 3rd run I have seen Duggs mention 5 gallons of Promix and 2 gallons of perlite as a measure to add.....somewhere in there should do the trick.

Those are beautiful buds. And the jars I just love them. How big are they and where did you get them...

Thanks they are 1/2 gallon mason jars. And the amber jars are well I’m not sure I’ll check when I get home but they fit 2 oz’s and $12 for a pack of 4. There’s also the amber 1/2 gallon jars in 2 packs

...from my reading, not a lot of brixer's go beyond 3rd run...@Duggan is the exception, and is on 5th run kit with the help of Doc, to see his grow flourish...so far, so good...nice fake plants...cheerz... :high-five: ...h00k...:hookah:...

Ya I sent Duggan a PM, waiting for him to get back to me but if it can go 4th run then I’m gonna learn how to do it, might just take a little for me to get it down but I know it can be done with good success

Most of the strains I run don't care for 3rd run so I don't push it past there. I do have a cross that's mostly skunk and OG genetics and it loved my 3rd run, so there are strains that will do fine in higher runs of soil.

Hi Gang, Happy Hump Day!

I've got a couple question for those who want to discuss and I'll drop my main question first to save time.

My main question is - when does it get to the point of too much watering? (with the assumption that your plants needs water before it's wilting. )

Reason for this question - It seems my plants need more frequent watering and i do not want to over water them. When i was checking on the plants after work, they were wilting and needed a drink. It has happened three times so far and it seems just about every four days, the plants needs a drink. Honestly i do not mind it as i came from hydro / coco grows. I'm thinking my plants would benefit more frequent watering compared to once a week like my previous run. I would like to continue another week or two of veg however if they are root bound.... they would need a bigger potting. I'm doubting they are root bound and just happen to be really thirsty over the past week. I've been wrong before lol just want to make sure that i dont regret it later in flower. Feel free to check out the plants in my second journal, I'll post new updated pics soon this weekend.

I see a few options:
Should my plants go into larger potting from their current 15gal pots? (I really do not want to buy 25-30 gals lol, if i have to then so be it.)
Should I start flowering now?
Stick with it, go another week or two then flip em. ?

Last question: How often do some of your plants need water? once a week? twice? three time? more?

Thank you, have a great hump day!

Depending on the strain I water every 2-4 days in the final pots. Most plants get water every 3rd day, but I have had some that it is every other day basically. Then there are plants that can go a week or more. How big are your plants? 15s should be plenty big enough for most indoor plants. If you feel you have enough space taken up with plant matter then by all means go ahead and flip bud! It just sounds to me like your plants are thirsty every 3 days. how much are you giving them at a time? When I was in 15s I was using 2 gallons of water per pot per watering.

Good to know....they look like a score. Too bad .ca never has all the goodies .com does. We are freezing up here:rofl:
crazy right! they meters themselves look no different then the circle ones, hole cut into the lid and some clear silicone. short of the fancy plastic cover for the meter, I'd think they are fairly easy to make:passitleft:

Hey gang here’s those lids. They work great. JUST remember they aren’t for curing!!! They aren’t 100% air tight so once you’re in the humidity range you want just remove these and use your permanent lids. I liked them so much I ended up purchasing a second set :passitleft:

Ordered a set. Thanks Farmer! :high-five:

Evenin ya'l. A thought or two on watering your/our plants.
After we figure out how much water the pot will hold , and you start watering that amount thru veg ...they start to grow faster , drinking more . Just water one day earlier ...as they grow and get even bigger, again , water one day earlier, until they are at the maximum they will drink thru bloom. This goes for all pot sizes , no exceptions.
Some DBHBB Super Lemon Haze...10 days out.

Hello fellow brixers. The "great and wonderful" Duggan has flipped me over to the high brix growing method. I bought my bulk kit and got my first batch cooking. Just a few questions. I added 30lbs of ewc and 5gal of h2o. Mixed it real good but I was left wondering if I had added enough water to the mixture. There was moister there but not a lot of it. I guess I'm asking how moist should the mixture be when I'm done mixing? Is this an organic grow?
@Duggan helped me get my current grow back on track. I can't thank him enough. I like the bud porn on in this journal. I look forward to many happy healthy juicy buds being produced by the kit in my closet. Found this journal two days ago. Started reading and im on page 13 right now. I jumped back to the end to introduce myself and let you know you have another brixer in the fold. Time to go back to page thirteen.

My garden is always filled with heavy OG crosses that always love 3rd run so kinda in the opposite boat which is why I was looking to do 4th run, everyone has their own methods for fake plants and they all seem to work great!

You made a great choice!
If you added 5 gallons of water, I'm sure it's moist enough provided you mixed it well. You should be able to grab a handful of soil and it should fall apart and back into the bin without leaving a bunch on your hands. Maybe someone else can describe that better but that's the idea. 5 gallons is plenty though.
