Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

It's so weird unless my containers arent what they say I only got like right around 70 to 75 gallons of soil but I got 2 kits so I keep tryn to figure out what happend lol. Like did I misplace an lose some soil some how or did the plants eat it up. I jus didnt think they wud eat up that much. Unless since I'm using sunshine mix #4 it's less then what normally shows up in a bale. Idk its jus weird I'm some how this short lol. I guess I'll jus have to get another kit or 2 to even things out. Then hopefully I'll have enough HB soil to keep my whole garden perpetual.

I think the Pro-Mix bales are more than 3.0 cu ft. I think they're 3.3?

So that'd be a 10% difference. And did you add 20 or 30 lbs of EWC? It'll vary a little bit, depending on settling and how wet it is, etc.

No I havent added the ewc I jus added up how much soil is still in use then I jus used a 10gal pot to measure out how much i have already used and waiting to recook. So I got roughly 60 gallons of HB soil left over after 1 run with two kits is that normal to end up with?

I think the issue is that we don't want to use too much, so it's best to hit the undersides, which absorb better, and would get nothing if we didn't.

Hi Graytail, sorry I missed this earlier up.

I'm actually using less because my target is much smaller. I'm curious myself too if the undersides really are best input source of plant food....or not. That's a good subject for study. I have plants in various stages and plenty of time, I'll enjoy observing their responses.

How many ML's do people mix their Brix for 8 oz water?
I would think 7.5 would be good. I know some mix 1ml per oz. but I think the PDF would lead you to around 7.3 or so.

I have seen my soil do a better job of eating leaves if I leave them on top of the soil and if I sprinkle some Roots! powder on top of them. Whenever I bury them, even when dusted with Roots!, they do not seem to get eaten nearly as well.
I agree TGY, but I want the microbes in my soil to devour that leaf, without my help with more microbes. I added about a 1/2 gal of water to each container, (graytail's suggestion) and I'm betting that leaf is gonna be toast in a week ?
The other thing is, I used my tap water for the original wetting. After that, I got a filter, but the original water was straight 140ppm ph 7.6 tap. I can hardly wait to get something going in docs soil ! Never tasted hibrix anything before, that I know of ? Thanks TGY !!

"tap water"......ya'l know wat i said about that. :passitleft:
I know you did, right after I did it !! :surf: But I been using this water for like 12 yrs. and had good crops. But that feeding hydroponically, in pure coco mostly. But these microbes are picky, just like you snob brixers. :meatballs:

And I'm using same water for the current grow in Coast of Maine platinum super soil, once recooked. the 4 inzane in the membrane clones are 3 weeks since flip & they're happy. So I don't think water is going to be an issue. Thanks for looking out for me Duggan ! one day, I aspire to be a hibrix snob, just like you !! :nomo:
