Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Nope, this is strictly for the chloramines and chlorine. Minerals pass right through, and that's fine with your level. Eventually, you'll want to get a RO system.

My ppms are over 400 now so I have no choice. I mix about 20% filtered water to get to about 80ppm.

Thanks so much for the timely get back. i'm also finding the ppm of my 2d. floor water is 25 points higher than downstairs. Now do i need to let this water set, after running it thru the filter? And one more question, can a mix hot & cold, as my cold spigot is 45 degrees. Ha !! Come on spring time !!

Greytail, or any of you guys using a water filter,
Does your water change, after running it thru the filter? I mean, the one I received today , made by that same company, but made for hydro & organic gardening, is not changing the ppm of the water. As a matter of fact, it added ppm?? Shouldn't we see some reduction in ppm ?? Thanks !
The first couple gallons you run through tend to add some carbon dust to the mix (as with most water filters), so you need to run a little before it runs "clean".

I use my water straight from the filter - no settling. And plants will prefer water that isn't cold - should be in the 70s.

:Namaste:

[Edit] You get that blast of charcoal dust when you first run water through it, but not from day to day. Oh, and make sure the cartridge stays wet. Don't let it all drain out the hose each time. I hook the end of my hose up higher than the filter, so it holds water.

I know water need to be in the 70s, and i know that I'm not good at asking questions. What I need to know is can I adjust my tap to warm, before filtering it. Some where in my past, I remember reading to not ever use the hot ta

I’m not sure of the correct answer, but for a year I was mixing warm and cold through a inline filter, and I did not notice anything negative in the plants. I never tested the water though. After a year and a half it eventually plugged up, and I switched back to my RO system, but I want to get another inline. The RO system is a slow fill, and it is very cold, I have to let the buckets sit in the GR 12hrs min. to warm up before I use. The in-line was convenient when I need to water quick, and didn’t have any RO set aside...buckets of Warm filtered water in 5 mins.

Thanks Smokey! I was hoping for a lil feedback on that one bro! Ill be using 2 mars 900s for veg and 2 p450s for bloom and each plant will rotate on its own axis, not around the light per-se. One large belt wrapped around 4 pulleys so the lights and the plants will stay where they are. The plants will just piroette in place...if that makes any sense! Lol

Thanks for the info dopey !! I’m gonna use the hot cold mix till someone tells me differently !! Thanks so much !!

Curious if we did throw a air stone and bubble for 24 hours would we see an increase in life? If we knew what effects it had we would have another super fine tuning measure.

Hey everyone, I stumbled upon a podcast that had someone from docs crew on as a guest a few weeks ago. He does a great job discussing high brix and bud washing. Nothing new for the HB vets, but pretty good info for newbies like me. Here’s a link if you’re interested. It’s a pretty quick listen and hopefully they have him back on in the future.

It’s the 5th one down about nutrient density and bud washing.

I want to start by saying I swear, I have searched through this thread for information on Epsom feeding and didn't come up with a thorough and complete explanation. I'm reading through this thread, currently around page 200, but when I saw Snake Oil being sold, I guessed that's the foliar for OG?

As mentioned, I tried to purchase it without having to have it shipped through a freight forwarder here to the US Virgin Islands. While I'm trying to get the logistics figured out, would members here recommend using Epsom salt on Bodhi's Black Triangle? They are 6 weeks into flowering, and I'd like to experiment on one or two if it's worth trying.

Cheers neiko. That’s good to know! I’ve just seen others talk about it and assumed it was a thing... :Namaste:

Doc used to recommend letting the tea bloom for about 10 minutes in water before use. I mentioned it a while ago and he basically said it isn't needed at this point.

We used to used Epsom on salt loving strains. Doc reformulated the kit though so that it is not supposed to be needed. I used to add 2 tablespoons of it as a top dressing every couple of weeks for salt loving strains but have not used it in a while.
