Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I think it’s kinda optional Blazin’.

Doc recommends always doing the dunk method if you can.

There are growers who don’t dunk at all tho. (And some who go to elaborate lengths to dunk right through flower!)

If you’re not dunking, then the recommendation is to put half in the saucer to wick up from the bottom and half down the top.

I’m not sure about watering to run of. I’d think that’d only be required if there was an issue of some kind.

Other more experienced folk may add to or change that, but that’s what I know about it :)

Awesome thanx n wow dunking wud b a tough one n a major pain on my back. Fully loaded 10 an 15gal pots weighted dwn by water lol im gud with all tht. But yea during veg it wont be as hard.

I've always watered the bloom pots until runoff ... well, dribble-off. I water a cup or two at a time, letting it soak down, rotate my way around the other pots, then come back for another couple cups, etc. When it starts dribbling out the bottom holes, I'm done. If I think they need a really good soak, I'll come back the next day and add more until runoff.

In veg, it's dunk n' soak, pouring water through the pots while they sit in water, until they're saturated. But those are only 1-3 gallon pots.

Lol i was jus talking about this with amy gardner in my journal. Haha yea it wud be a pita tryn to dunk during flower. A 10 to 15 gal pot loaded dwn with wet soil lol im gud i got enuf back problems as it is.

Gazoo does something similar, only very exact. He has little measuring thingies under his pots, so he always knows how heavy they are. Then when it's time to water, he has an automated drip system that soaks them slowly over like an hour? :) He never has to maneuver those suckers. :slide:

If you’re dunking the. You need as much water as needed to make that work. I use a bucket not much wider than the pots so I can use less water.

If you’re not dunking, then I think somewhere around 1/7 of the pot size is about it. That’s only based on what Doc and others mention when they talk about watering the 7gals - folks always say 1gal of water/drench per 7gal. Don’t know if that necessarily translates to the little 1gal pots, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t.

Awesome an thanx for the info. I did a 2gallon mix. An let each pot sit in the mix for alil bit like 3 to 5 min. I ended up squirting jus a tad more tea then i was suppose to use. It said like 1ml per gal so i was guna do 3 ml for the whole 2gal mix. But i slipped tryn to squeeze such a small amount an alil more then intended accidentally shot out. But it wasnt a ton so hopefully the girls all take it in stride.

Also why are the directions in the little pamphlet different then the ones on docs site? I jus kinda went with my gut feeling of somewhere in the middle of what is put dwn tht way its not to light a feed or to heavey n then burn them or sumthn. Plus i dnt wana waste this liquid gold any more then necessary lmao. I wana make this stuff last as long as possible so i can continue to run hb plants at all times till i can convert the rest of my garden to hibrix lmao.

Those dunking in buckets and having leftover water in bucket, use X 2 amount of ge or xp per Doc. What I love about flowering 10g pots in saucers @ 1 1/2 g drenches from above is that the saucers continue to look brand new and clean- no sign of salt build up, no waste. Love this about organic hi-brix. Lite surface water in between drenches has been working well for me.

My plants had some root issues so Doc told me to do daily drenches for 10 days in a row. I haven’t done any drenches since and am well over the whole concept.

Now I just do similar to Graytail and top water 32oz at a time rotating between each plant. Plants needing ~16gal at a time I thought I would only last a couple waterings using the small bucket before I switched to a one gallon, but it’s not bad at all. I actually enjoy the mindless repetition of it, it’s kind of meditative.

Yep, many successful ways to water our girls.
I enjoy seeing the percolating bubbles when I dunk, indicating the air purge, and then the subsequent pulling the pot from the bucket, sucking in fresh air with the suction of the water exiting out the bottom.
Makes me smile everytime:)

Have a great day!

Hey Buck enjoyed your bud porn pictures! They look awesome. Just curious why ur stating that they are fem seeds and that you will use 3rd run soil.

Little bugger looks great! Digging the Sunset Sherbert, Just got an email from Seedsman and that’s what caught my eye  first.

I’ll pass by your journal and see what your doing over there, rock on!

Thanks, I'm running docs kit, and the soil we will reuse up to 3-4 times. These sunset sherb/wedding cake are feminized. There's a couple of sprays that you can use. The breeders will find the female they want to keep, one spray is called sts I think, it's does something to hormones. It'll cause sprayed plant to show male. Since all the pollen is from a female all the seeds will tend to be female. But there are occasional males mixed in too, but should be 97% female. Lot of times you'll see a cross, like jelly breath s1, if you see s1 that means she's been sprayed and reversed. It's a great way to keep genetics because all the seeds will typically take after the mother.

Sorry for half ass explanation, I think there's a better way to make fems but it takes a lot longer, it's called cubing, it's where they breed the Y chromosome out. I haven't read up on that technique :Namaste::passitleft:

I do it this way too:Namaste::passitleft:

Yep, I can actually get a very similar effect by pouring just enough into the saucer to cover the holes, then pour the rest over the top... pretty fast at first so you can cover all the soil and the edges with the liquid. Then just pour slower to maintain that thin layer of fluid, it’ll percolate pretty good once you get the hang of it. It does help if the saucers are only slightly larger than the pots diameter.
But I get where you’re coming from, there is some satisfaction in dunking too. I just hate having the extra left over, hate waste... and I don’t have enough plants to need to save it or use it unscheduled in my flower girls...
