Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Prune it back and look to new growth. I'm not sure what happened, but obviously the roots and soil aren't on speaking terms.....
I gave them a good pruning, a second Rescue (with a little Epson salt) drench and they've improved dramatically.

My conclusion is that two things happened. 1) I had the lights too close too soon, and 2) they're heavily root bound and I'm guessing the soil went flat.

The plants seem to now be back on track. I'll be up canning to 7s in the next week or so.

As always, thanks for the advice. :Namaste:
Hey Mike. Are they in 1s. If so, I bet up putting will help. It sure cannot hurt.
ween, yes, 1 gal. I agree - working on it....

Guys, I'm gonna' flip my plants next weekend and just want to confirm I'm reading the schedule correctly. Is it true that, once you switch to 12/12 (or 11/13, etc.), you do NOT give any TP drenches until after the CAT drenches?

I just gave a GE. I was going to do a H2O next, then flip. Should I do a TP before or at the switch, or just GE's until after the CAT's?

:thanks:

When I transplant and flip I give a transplant drench. If you've transplanted them and continued to veg them then just continue to alternate drenches until CAT. My schedule is usually something like this....transplant drench at flip, h2o, Growth, H2O, CAT, CAT, H2O, Growth and so on.

You should definitely give at least one Tp drench after you up pot and flip and before the cat. Doc explained at one point that by giving a transplant drench before the cat you are loading the cation sites and once you give the cat drench it allows all the loaded up cation sites to release their nutrients (not sure that is the correct term but bear with me) making the cat drench even more effective.

Thanks, guys! They have been vegging in their final containers for a while now so I'll just keep alternating drenches until the CAT.

Just a note: The v2 PDF shows up-potting in week #1 of flower (with presumably a 1/4 strength TP) and then does not show another TP until two weeks after the last CAT drench.

Something I just noticed on that V2 instruction sheet

It shows the RECHARGE at 1st few days of Up-Pot ? Is that correct would a recharge be
required that soon ? seems after being up-potted just a few days earlier it would not
be needed that soon. Even considering the time it takes to get it working thats still
kinda early. ?

ALSO DO we Recharge 2nd Run ?

Gazoo....yes...ReCharge second run.......for timing of the ReCharge it depends on a few factors bud. How big are the finals...how long u gonna veg in them for and how long a bloom time is the strain. All these factor into when you use it ok!

ok Thanks, I do have it planned to come into play later for the SATIVA but
seeing that in the instructions gave me PAUSE. Figured if your adding it so
soon why not just mix it in at Up-pot

Wow... lots of little mistakes on that PDF eh... that’s why I never printed or downloaded it.

Hey there Gazoo! On that Panama, it was a 12 week sativa. I did first recharge 3 weeks post flower and again around 6-7 weeks. Pretty sure that right, I’ll have a look at my notes later to confirm.

Yep, that’s confirmed. Bit of course I’d take Duggans advice over mine any day!!

Not really mistakes I think we just need to adapt/adjust it a bit to our own style and strain ;)
THANKS I would appreciate the TIMING help. If I remember correctly I did the recharge just
prior to the CATs last time and a second one a few weeks later but also need to look back:)
to see exactly how I did it.

Yes...great point G!
I would like to see growers wait a bit ,once in the finals...like 2 or 3 weeks...or even longer. But like i said...depends on those factors. For a fast finishing strain that gets flipped as soon as it goes into the final...i recommend adding it sooner ..of course!
Remember too bud...its also good for the next round of soil too.

Ok guys im finally apart of the hi brix community i jus made the plunge today n ordered docs kit all i gotta do is get some promix hp an some ewc then ill be ready to cook some soil. Is there anything i need to do differently to make the soil able to handle seedlings or will i be good once its done cooking? Cause my plan was to start off with seeds instead of clones but i dont wana burn em n have them die off n not make it cause i didnt do my research so jus wana make sure lol.

No nothing special for SEED germination HOWEVER some use those Root Plugs in the soil to start the seeds in.
I simply use 1 inch of straight Pro-Mix on top of the 1st run soil and start the seeds that way, 100% germination 3 times
in a row.

Also a little heads up SAVE SOME 1st run for future 2nd and 3rd run starts.
Use starter pots with 1st run then up-pot to the 2nd or 3rd run soil

1st run cooked soil is fine to start seeds in. Some like to start the seeds in a root riot and bury that in the soil. Either way is fine.

I used 1st run soil for germinating seeds with no problems.
However after some had cooked for approx. 1 year, the soil did start eating my seeds.

If your soil cooks 10 months or longer you may want to switch to the root riots.

Interesting ;) my 1st run is over a year old so probably a good idea I have been using the
layer of straight Pro-Mix when germinating

Well they are mistakes in my opinion if it isn’t following the directions... just sayin...
Since that chart is really meant to guide people new to the system, it should be as close to the directions as possible.
