Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

These four OG Kush (in the back) started as 100% perlite Hempy clones in 32oz pots, just like all the smaller plants in front. I transplanted them to the cooked kit soil (first run Sunshine #4) sometime mid July to 1gal pots. On their first Brix spray I had the lights turned too high and they got a bit burned (one more than the rest). They recovered pretty quickly.

I had been more or less following the pdf schedule making sure not to over water. About three weeks ago after a plain water dunking they started to droop and never really recovered. I kicked myself and assumed they were over watered but the soil was drying out quickly. It seemed like they were going from over watered to under watered every day or two without anything in between. After reading some posts here I read they were probably severely root bound (thanks @Graytail ) and not really overwatered at all.

Last week, I transplanted them into 2 gal pots and they seemed to be recovering nicely. But they still don’t seem to have fully recovered. They’re still drooping a bit and not really looking super great. I feel like if they could go into their final 15gal pots right now it would solve these issues, but I just don’t have room for that for a couple weeks yet. Any advice?

Yes, prune them up....mix drenches at triple strength and water them daily. No problem.

Yup your right, I confused recharge with cat drench o_O.

Trying to enjoy the weekend before I work on labor day. Some Holiday huh... :passitleft:
I hear that, I too shall work tomorrow. I'm self employed, so could take the day, but I hate getting behind. Would rather work tomorrow, maybe make it a short day, better than having to work later everyday to make it up.
But that does suck you have to work... you get major holidays off?

Technically I have the day off but being on call am required to work. Getting paid double time and a half so that helps, but probably not as much as you baller

one thing I forgot to mention:

Hempy is passive hydro. The morphology and physiology of the roots in a passive hydro environment are very much different than roots that form in living soil.

Hempy roots are incapable of hosting mycorhyzae like soil roots. For one thing, perlite is sterile...or should be. Soil is filthy, dirty and full of bacteria.

Hempy roots grow to soak up salty water, while soil roots should be very fine hairs, barely visible, that give massive surface area to the mycorryzhae to live and work.

In other words, starting the plants in small hempy buckets is a no-go. Don't do it.

Follow directions and start them in High Brix soil!

The reason the leaves are drooping is because the roots can't keep up, cuz they're not the right kind of roots.

Prune them up to the third node, dunk them daily in strong drenches and be patient for 10 days or so and things should be right.

Next time, start them in soil as recommended. :Namaste:

Okay great thanks for the reply. So I just trim the under growth, then keep alternating each drench like the schedule but triple strength and every day for 10 days? Thanks!

Doc, your Amazon site shows everything is sold out! I will try again Tuesday. Side note, I killed aphids on 3 fan leaves at week 3, now week 6 of 10 and still no sign of aphids. :) I don't think they like hi-brix very much! I put EWC accidentally in with 3rd run soil, I believe hi nitrogen may have attracted them?

Were working on it! Promise.

It's incredibly frustrating....just when we get everything perfectly in line with all regulations....boom, payment processors stop.

Now, the state of CA is "inspecting" products that were recently registered by me. They steal about 80 bucks worth of everything and then test it to make sure the numbers line up, etc. If they don't, it's a fine of course.

please be patient!

Damn its like a wild fire, Put out one hot spot and 3 more pop up.
Seriously you cant control what people do with what they purchase,
do we stop selling knives and forks because someone used one as
a weapon ? or used bleach to poison someone ?

Makes no sense at all

Actually, the issue isn't really the Payment Processors. They'd all LOVE to get a percentage of the legal MMJ industry.

The real issue is that our government still has Cannabis classified as a "Schedule 1 Narcotic" which means (ridiculously!) that it has no recognized medical use.

Because all the Payment Processors are banks that get audited by the Feds for FDIC insurance, compliance, etc.; they're all afraid of being accused by the government of crimes such as Money Laundering or Aiding & Abetting Drug Trafficking; so they will not provide merchant accounts to any business even remotely associated with the MMJ industry. The card brands like MasterCard & Visa also have some issues regarding brand reputation, but I would bet those issues would go away as soon as the scheduling changes!

The best solution to this problem (UNFORTUNATELY!) is to elect representatives who will vote to change the scheduling of medical cannabis.
